I love the sound, too, but if I'm comparing it to the version on The Black Album I wouldn't call this version "crispy". It actually sounds quite a bit warmer in the mids (especially with the guitars) whereas The Black Album has more attack and a darker drum sound.
I think if Enter Sandman would have been on Ride the Lightning, the riff would have been much more aggressive. There is not enough downstroke in it as it is!
They have enter sandman with ride the lightening sound. It's the first recording of it Metallica did and they still.had the old sound. It's on CZcams. Pretty cool version
Man James' "Eeexit liiight!" in this song is one of this best vocal moments. Too bad he lost that voice. He doesn't even sing it that way live anymore. Just cuts it off short.
Well, when you're an aged man, the benefits of your younger self do fade away. This is precisely one of the reasons why I just can't do live shows, because I crave the sound of when the music was originally released.

James had said this song had been in his lyric book for a while, it's cool what people can do to try to emulate what it could've been in previous, or maybe in later albums!
Wow, i didnt know what to think when i clicked this. But you made this actually feel really fresh and exciting to listen to again. I didnt realize how much i missed their old tones
Love this! You've perfectly captured the sound of Metallica circa 1984! Love the addition of the bells from "For Whom The Bell Tolls"! That was an awesome added touch! 🤘
I’m gonna say it right now…this is better than the original…by far… I’m a huge fan of RTL and I love the tone of the album. And this is like a damn near perfect tone to RTL🤘 RIP Cliff Burton
Small but important attention to detail: the way you took out the little 'jazzier' Kirk licks at the start of the second verse to match the '84 sound. Very nice.
For Whom the Sandman Tolls????? Holy shit this kicks ass!

I really love Ride the Lightning's frosty, crispy sound
Yes, it's almost like it is Trapped under ice! 😂

Try it with the whole black album 🤕 this song tho shoulda been on an early thrash album agree this song is an old school metallica song.
@@rexsepheI saw this coming lol
Same. I love the ethereal mixing of the album.
Even better - you are doing amazing work. Just like the first version, I turned it up to 1.25 speed and it sounded even more like 1984 Metallica.
Has a bit of a Ride the lighting song vibe but I prefer the original tempo
Thanks now I like it even better
I agree
I feel like 1.5x speed sounds more like RTL
Agreed
RTL just has a thinner and more crispy sound. The sound of the drums and the bell really kicks some ass!

I never thought Ride the Lightning had a thinner sound on guitar at least. It sounds huge. Maybe the thickest tone they had.
I like how you even brightened the timbre of James' voice. Awesome attention to detail!
Seriously. How'd he do that?
@@INeverWanted2010 Probably Audacity or some Vocal editing software which I do not know

The vocals sound to me like a fourteen year old boy doing a really good Hetfield impression.
That voice is SPOT ON !
i’d certainly hope so, being james hatfield and all lo
For some reason it kind of reminds me of Sebastian Bach. 😆
@@Cthulhu_Awaken Very agreeable
Not really lmao
You even threw in Cliff's bass tone. Legendary!
I like how you incorporated that certain sloppiness and slight timing fluctuations that were so typical for early Metallica.
The imperfect timing is what made Metallica so good
@@criddlegakes2650 I think they were able to fix that problem later in their career

Same here, not fast enough
The lyrics and playing style don't really fit perfectly but this is still a cool thought experiment.
Definitely a faster tempo with triplet strokes
Set the playback to 1.25, and you get what you wish

Bravo, dude. I don't know how you did this, but it's incredible. Just wish I could hear the bass guitar and not have to use EQ to hear the kick drum.
I think it’s so close to perfect! The speed of 1.25x is basically the missing piece. It’s flawless.
Fix the bass man because it's inaudible

Ironically this song name was born around when this album came out.
The entire Justice album needs this mix.

Very good! The only think I would change is the wah on Kirk's parts, since he wasn't obsessed with the wah pedal at the time of Ride The Lightning.
