Secret Invasion is making us question everything we know about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fury has been using Skrulls for years to build up S.H.I.E.L.D., but what about Hydra? Why didn't the Skrulls detect that beautiful parasite? Or could the skrulls have been Hydra, all along?

#SecretInvasion #Marvel #Hydra
Secret INvasion is rewriting the history of the MCU. The show is making me take a look back at what I thought I knew about the Marvel cinematic universe, and seeing everything in a whole new light-especially shield, Hydra, Iron man, Thor, and Captain america: the winter soldier.
In just 3 episodes, we’ve learned that the skrulls did not all leave earth in 1995-and that Fury’s promise to find them a home was quid quo pro-he wanted something in return. As Talos tells us in episode 3, the skrulls made Fury what he is today [clip].
In episo des 2 and 3, Talos described how the Skrulls helped Fury rise through the ranks-but also, how the skrulls helped Shield to become the preeminent spy agency in the world. Think about it. When we first see shield in its full glory in the avengers, this agency is dominant on the world stage. They began as a US spy agency, but by the time of the avengers and winter soldier, Fury is reporting to the world security council, and not the united states government. Shield outgrew the US government-because, as Fury puts it [Ultron, eyes and ears everywhere].
And this was all thanks to an ar my of shapeshifting spies-well, at least 20 of them to start. [cip, 19 of us]. But this makes you think: What about HYDRA? How were these skills so dominant in the intelligence world, but they never stumbled across a shadow spy organization that was right under Fury's nose. There’s a few possibilities, but the first one I want to talk about is that the skrulls could have been Hydra, all along. [what]
Doug: Well….how?
Okay, so stay with me here, because I’m going to talk about the show Agents of Shield for a bit, too. I’m not totally sure that Agents of Shield is canon, or if it's in a variant timeline-but the show introduces some very cool concepts into the history of HYDRA that I want to talk about. It could even be that HYDRA was founded by skrulls.
Now, Like I was yawning, Hydra could have been founded by skrulls.
Doug: No way.
Yes, this theory is weird, but they could retcon it to be true. So in Agents of Shield, it's revealed that Hydra is actually hundreds of years old, and that they worship a mind-controlling inhuman called HIve.
Doug: What’s an inhuman?
Yeah, I’m guessing a lot of you would rather forget the inhumans show [clip]. Inhumans are basically humans that got superpowers form kree aliens experimenting on their ancestors thousands of years ago. And members, the kree are the mortal enemies of the skrulls. You need to know that for later. So in Agents of Shield, Gideon Malick reveals that hydra was actually trying to bring a mind controlling inhuman back to earth. In other words, they were trying to weaponize an old kree weapon.
And here there could be a skrull connection. If the kree visited earth thousands of years in the past, then maybe the skrulls thought earth was worth checking out too. They would want to find out why their sworn enemies, the kree, took such an interest in earth. So they would have disguised themselves as humans and formed an organization to find the kree weapon, Hive-so they could use it against their enemies.
Fast forward a few hundred years, the red skull takes over hydra and uses it to start up a super soldier program-similar to Gravik’s super skrull program. In the comics, skrulls have been tinkering with their DNAfor decades. Agents of shield also shows hydra agents taking a particular interest in a dead kree body-and a hydra commander named daniel Whiteha has a particular interest in the Inhumans-who, remember, are a weapon created by the Kree.
Doug: That just seems like a coincidence.

You and Eric voss and heavy spoilers should all be in a super gay super liberal relationship
Super beta trio
🎉
Again, what about Talocan? If Bilbo Ross has been a Skrull for any recent time frame, then the skrulls know about a vibranium rich civilisation that also doesn't trust humans. Super skrulls in vibranium.
(Shivers)
I reckon the thumbnail pic will be Fury meeting Talos in private because the Skrulls Kree and the military will likely be after him as humanity will see him as an invader like the others. Skrulls will be appointing a new leader branding Talos and his family and their refugee operations as traitors and the Kree will likely try and come back and brand themselves heroes by helping the UN chase down Skrulls Nick Fury Returns, Emilia Clark, Evil Skrulls Marvel Dark Reign Easter Eggs, Val, And introducing new characters like Emilia Clarke Veranke and Rhodey War Machine before Armor Wars. She-Hulk Trailer Easter Eggs Secret Invasion is partially based on the Marvel Avengers and X-Men comics crossover. The story involves a subversive, long-term invasion of Earth by the Skrulls, a group of alien shapeshifters who have secretly replaced many superheroes in the Marvel Universe with impostors over a period of years, prior to the overt invasion. Marvel's promotional tagline for the event was "Who do you trust". And Super Skrull Explained. I like the seriousness and intensity in this trailer. Looks like it will be a fantastic series. Glad for the update confirming Emilia Clarke’s relationship with Talos. Fury and Hill were so close it’s strange to hear they haven’t communicated in years. Excellent breakdown and video Charlie in Star Wars was Yoda was In space and come to drop that show about ET show from the Kids hate it to coming out in 2024 he is a Space frog who was Yoda played into become an ET on the kid's show I have seen it before come true confirmed in 2023 I am drop that show okay thanks.
Great theory but I though Talos eluded to the fact that the mass migration of scrulls to earth came during the Five year blip when posing as dead or missing humans would have been much easier to do during the mass confusion just a thought 😅
if you rewatch the scene he never mentioned the blip only to say that fury was gone, he said "we held them off as long as we could, and the million of us that were left we fled" notice how he says us and we, meaning Talos was with them at the time, but Talos has been on earth for 30 years, meaning all million came to earth when he did back in the 90's but fury only knew about the 19 that were brought into shield. And a skrulls cant shape shift into someone thats disappeared, they have to see them first
Yeah, but he says "gone" like "presumed dead". I think it is tied to the blip, but they avoid saying alot of stuff blip, ultron, thanos, stark drones, etc because they want to avoid 1. References that a causal will think they have to know 2. Specific dates. Here's my question: if after the end of captain marvel they came back, how did that work? What did they do with the special ship? Why couldn't they find a homeworld with marvel helping?
@ayezupe884 to me it sounded like he talking about Skrulls as a species with "we" and "us".
Its a fucking comic boom story..stop analyzing this as if it was world war 1
They Milking these skrull theories remember the endless Mephisto theories 😂
A small detail I noticed during this video (not about hydra) that I LOVE the show did was in episode 2, in the clip you have in here, Gravik explains to the council why he likes dogs, which is then paralleled in episode 3 when Talos says to Fury that he “doesn’t understand the whole dog thing.” Just an interesting small detail between the two that informs how each of them view the world and such, I thought
Oh flip I didn’t notice that 😮
@@chickenlittle2206 I think the show was trying to convey that one likes dogs because they can be controlled and the other doesn't understand the relationship because they see all lifeforms as more or less equal. With both equally missing the humanity of the relationship. Kinda lol
I think it’s to highlight that Talos isn’t a dog person nor a cat person as he suspects them to be flerkins… so he doesn’t have any pets… talos even calls gravik a mad dog.
So it’s clear the show is contrasting both of their preferences for household pets and which they prefer if they had to choose…
The 'Decanonizing' of 'Agents of SHIELD' due to infighting between Marvel Movies and Marvel TV (at the time) still ticks me off.
Agents was doing great work with integrating themselves into the MCU, particularly after the Hydra revelation, and what they did with Hydra starting out as a 'Religious' organization was brilliant, at least to me.
I think too many Hydra deaths would have uncovered the Skrull invasion ages ago to the point where it would be too difficult to keep under the rug.
I think the solution is more simple: only a small group of skrull worked for Nick (20 like Talos said in the episode 3) and they worked as spies and informants (like showed in the 1998 flashback) but they weren't agents of the Shield, so they weren't inside the organization and they couldn't know about Hydra
This is most likely the reason, but it’s harder to make a 20minute long CZcams video about that
The whole time I've just been thinking about the uninhabited planet Thanos went to after the snap that could be their new home because Carol knows it's out there but naaaah, she's busy 😂
Exactly 😅
Maybe that planet defied all odds and everyone on the planet was snapped away in the blip? 😅
I think about what you said that Damage Control has been infiltrated by Skrulls. There was that one scene in the trailer where there was a crate that holds Cull Obsidian's hand in has a Damage Control logo on it. Now we know why they need Cull Obsidian's DNA to make Super Skrulls, so that theory makes sense.
Fantastic theory. Definitely plausible. A one minute montage in a later episode justifying this would be awesome. Live in hope.
Red skull was probably a red scrull😂😂
I think the Asian on the counsel is a part of Shang-Chi in the MCU he's the reason they were able to obtain extremis to make Super Skrulls.
By the time of Winter Soldier Steven Strange was just a doctor. In Docotor Stranmge, before his car crash, he was offered to operate Rhodes after his fall in Civil War. So his hands were damaged at the time or after Civil War.
THANKS for this, Ryan and Doug!!!!! I enjoyed the five minutes of Black Bolt in MoM more than I did in the ABC show!
Great video Ryan. I said the EXACT same thing about some Skrulls buying into Hydra when I watched episode 3
Hydra was within shield for more than 40 years by the time the skrulls came to earth. So Hydra was entrenched so well that it was difficult to detect them.
the channel just comes up with theories to net the buzz fans are experiencing and drive comments/interactions, seems to work
Zola algorithm
@@jmarsh5485exactly one female said this make “total sense” lol total 100% or doubt it’s wrong or 💩
Shield aka hydra would have been compartmentalised so much so that even skulls would have had a hard time getting into their secret club without an invite…
Skulls were under the assumption that fury was incharge so they have no reason to sniff out hydra type rebellion within shield…
Good theory. I always took the Disney+ series as a precursor or explanation to an upcoming movie. The stuff you talked about might be explored in Secret Wars. I’m assuming Secret Invasion is the precursor to that to explain all the backstory. It’ll probably end on a cliffhanger to get people excited for Secret Wars.
It def will...
Maybe a few skrulls had to become members of hydra? So they wouldn’t be discovered sooner?
Why didn't they let fury know
@@TheDCbiz well episode 2 reveals there are a lot more skrulls than he knew about. I’m sure even talos couldn’t keep tabs on all of them. Or maybe talos knew all along and maybe had some infiltrate hydra.
@@marcomagana8329 but again why didn't those who joined Hydra let fury know Hydra existed in Shield?
@@TheDCbiz perhaps talos kept that a secret from Fury? I kinda see the plot hole in my theory 🤣 but who knows, maybe the skrulls didn’t know? Or maybe the skrulls did know but didn’t or couldn’t let fury know
It would be really interesting to see Hydra vs skulls.
Love all your videos
The extremius centipede cocktail wasn’t stable. The night night gun saved death lock’s life when he was about to explode
if it means Quake, Melinda May and LMD Coulson are Canon to the MCU, then I'm all in ;)
me too!!!
I'd love to see more videos about Agents of Shield. I love that show and they have so much fun with the possibilities of their world.
Great way to piece it all together.
I think the skrulls did learn about Hydra and that's what precipitated Winter Soldier.
They didn't find out earlier because they were focused on international espionage and terrorism.
“I wish the scale was amped up to that of a movie.”
Funny enough, they’re in a better position to address everything you talked about than a movie could ever possibly be, given they have 5 times the run time. But these shows tend to have really slow pace to appeal to as many people as possible.
Thor ended up parking his own people on earth and Nick fury didn't show up saying there wasn't enough room in earth, but he did say that to the skrulls.
The agent Carter short film is considered cannon according to Disney and it contradicts the agent Carter show
No it doesn't.
@@giovannigiovanni.7220 it objectively does though, maybe you should rewatch it, it is set a year after the first avenger and talks about sheild but in the show sheild doesn't exist yet because they reworked it in the show we actually hear about sheild being an idea in the second season. The entire premise of the short is contradicted by the premise of the show
If Skrulls were Hydra that would make project Insight all the more insidious. The Hydra goal of this weapon was to eliminate threats to Hydra's rule. If Skrulls were behind Hydra then they could've co-opted the weapon to eliminate all humans once they decided to take over Earth.
Thanks Ryan and Doug👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Secret Invasion should have been a 12 episode special event type thing, set up kind of like a movie the first act is introducing what the skrulls have been up to, showing some more of the reasons they were mad with fury, the ousting of Talos from the concil, the second act focuses more on how Fury and Talos are seen as old and out of step and why the Skrulls think its a good time to attacck and then the 3rd should have been when we see why Fury is Fury and he starts showing why he's "never out" and that he's was controlling the narrative from the beginning and his whole "old broken shell" of who once was, was him taking his time to collect all of the intel he needed, he does one last thing to make sure Talos is all in, takes him to his space station, sees that he in fact has been looking for a home and never stopped looking, that he has been collecting intel from way before he came down and that's when another Fury walks in and relieves the Skrull that has been posing for him some times and hammering home that no one has ever had his number and that he is capable af by himself.
I figure Fury was more focused on using the Skrulls externally from SHIELD so they wouldn't be exposed to the inside as much where Hydra hid and obfuscated their operations in a manner that both promoted theirs and SHIELD's objectives. Project Insight itself was a Hydra goal but they managed to get SHIELD to enable it following the Battle of New York. Fury was head of it and he felt the whole thing was running under him to spec. He could or should have had some Skrulls inside SHIELD but he never expected it.
Do you think the Skrulls were in league with Hydra?
I don't think all of them but surely some had to know about hyrda and that could be how gravik got everything he has.
It would set up a pretty interesting back drop for the next Captain America movie 🦅🇺🇲💚
I like this theory, because in the comics the skrulls are super religious, and could possibly believe the ideals of Hydra, and after losing their home world they want something to latch on to, and they are already used to the idea of 1 powerful leader
No. They clearly mention that the only after the blip the millions of Skrulls came out to Earth
They were a few until the blip
No this wouldn't make any sense.
Thanks for reminding me of one of the funniest moments in what about bob
The thumbnail got me 💀💀😂
Theory aside, whomever did the photoshopping on the thumbnail did an amazing job 😂
ScreenCrush, "everything is Mephisto"
It's not Mephisto....
Now, "Everything is Skrulls!"
Riiiiiight!
Skrulls are important for mephisto
If the Skrulls infiltrated Hydra, is it possible that they helped to create the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver? If they created the Scarlet Witch, they could take out all of the Avengers.
Another angle may be around the tesseract. The skrulls would have known to focus on Stark because he would have been the one to give the tesseract to Mar Vel.
It still feels like Secret Invasion is creating plot holes rather than rewriting the MCU. Hydra is a massive blemish on the Skrull plan. And I am enjoying the show.
Some of this is super sweaty and far fetched but a very fun video nevertheless, I agree I wish the scale was ramped up a bit more for this series, it’s a great concept that is being starved a bit in my option. But man, what a great show this has been. This is what I expect a marvel TV show to be - not more exciting than the movies, but expands on the world building and lore of the cinematic side of marvel. Good stuff so far.
What a fun and well thought out theory! Are you saying then in #2 that the Skrull council was puppeteering this whole Hydra thing? Or in #3 various Skulls just acted on their individual own without organizing into a tiny group of hidden Hydra? Obediah makes perfect Hydra, hope he's dead cold for sure. (Love the Agents of SHIELD references. Loved that show.)
Ah, HYDRA, I do think that itd probably just dome Skrulls sympathized with Hydra and didn't publicize it. But it could also be that a lot of those Skrulls were also in charge of the next generation. But I actually could see some of them regretting their actions now, like Varra seems to be.
You think you can turn that light up any higher at the end to make those infinity stones pop! Jk - Thanks for another entertaining, well put together video. Love your channel brother!
🎯💯on the spot 👏
In all etymologies, a Hydra is associated with water. It's a shame that this connection was never explored in Marvel, because Eels will rise up as a single whole so that observers think its many heads of one creature. And those same Eels were supposed by the ancients to have shape-shifting abilities. The word Srkull is a brick-word from various words like Skulk (hiding in the shadows for nefarious purposes) and Skull, which takes us back to image of Marvel's Hydra. Sometimes the original writers have a syllogistic connection they forgot to explore - a cardinal sin to put a shotgun on the wall in Act One that is never used by Act Three if you ask me, necessitating our retconning the original threads back together.
Nice video
nice video
getting a feeling that the reveal would not only be that it's Skrull-Rhodey, but also it's actually Skrull-Rhodey calling the shots, with Gravik being just the face of the operation.
Mind blown!
This is going to get amped up to the scale of a movie, probably three movies. Captain America 4, Thunderbolts, and Armor War
In Episode 3, Fury's wife is pretty clear that since her group is off the books, they have zero interactions with the rest of SHIELD, so it's at least plausible that the 20 Skrulls had no idea HYDRA had infiltrated them. Also, I doubt he'd trust Talos now if he knew.
In the painting in ep3 there were 18 statesmen, Talos stated there were him and 19 others, does this mean 2 more (I guess one more if G'aih is confirmed dead) skrulls will die by end of season?
That's just something that caught my eye, unless this is just a theory that's a bit out there, what do you think?
Love the ABC show tie-ins!
Asgard gets blown up and the Asgardians just move to some town in norway. Skrulls need to move to antartica and chill or smth
Imagine getting your ass kicked across the galaxy for a million years and having the audacity to say (we’re taking over your planet.) they might wanna make some human friends before the Kree come back.
Fury without glasses - Nick Fury.
“Nick” without glasses - totally a Skrull.
My theory, when you look at the Disney plus shows and phase four movies becomes clear that the skrulls have infiltrated Marvel's Script and story writters purposely churning out garbage in order to bring us back to, yes you guessed it, spaghetti westerns.
Nice Theories Ryan. Fury has only know about the Skrulls for 30 years but, Marvell a Kree Agent and Skrull sympathiser had hidden a group of Skrull refugees on her spaceship. The questions are, how long had they been there, when did they arrive and, were they the only Skrulls to make the journey from Skrullos to Earth.?
I don't believe the Skrulls and Hydra are connected but Conspiracy Theory number One is, The Roswell Incident. Skrulls.???
*Talks about Agents of SHIELD* WOOOOOOOO
Imagine if it was kang behind all of this as a skrull lol 🔥
skrull kang would be great idea, also whos form did Gaia take ?
Where can a single man in his 30's get himself a shape-shifting Skrull wife? Asking for a friend, he is quite unlucky with the ladies
Listen to you talking about the is so much better than watching the show itself
Regarding the part in Hypothesis Two as to Fury not asking Thor for help--we don't know that. It hasn't been addressed in any of the MCU shows, so for all we know Fury could have asked Thor for help and not gotten it, or at least not gotten enough to make a practical difference. And it isn't as if Thor doesn't have plenty of other tasks to keep him occupied elsewhere, is it?
I was hooked on Agents of Shield for a bit
Exciting summary and speculation.
Wanna clarify a rl issue.
In MCU after the Blip they can have whatever organizations and political structures that they see fit for their plot and world building.
With that said.
In rl there’s some misinformation going around that is worth correcting.
The one I’m aiming at now is the one regarding NATO and how it’s organized.
In rl the Chief Secretary does not have the power portrayed in ep 3 of Secret Invasion. NATO as an organization doesn’t even have any independent decision function. They cannot “order out” 1 million soldiers. They cannot even directly order 1 soldier out.
Each individual member country has full sole control regarding what and how much they contribute with every single issue. And on almost all occasions in rl history the members have had vastly different opinions about ongoing issues.
And, as part of this info, NATO doesn’t have any pre-emptive powers at all.
All this said - MCU post Blip can have whatever they want.
As a viewer, do not equate stuff in there with rl stuff like this.
This comment has nothing to do with this video specially - but it is a plea for you to make some Strange New Worlds content. The first season was great, and this season has also been awesome so far. The Easter eggs fly by like trees along the highway while I’m driving 80. I know you’re a fan and watching…as you said - this series defines how a prequel should look.
That wasn't actually Fury in A.AOU if you remember he ate a diagonal cut sandwich while giving that 👀 & 👂🏼s speech which in Cap Mar he said he couldn't. 🤷🏼♂️🤔
That's great but if that was the case all of the scrulls that we've seen get killed would have turned back to their original form. That really hasn't been the case in any other movies before Captain Marvel.
Is it bad I find these analyses more interesting than the actual show?
So i guess Loki the God of Mischief was right all along “You were made to be ruled in the end you will always kneel”
Ryan's hate for the Inhumans is always hilarious.
I like the Idea that Hydra is run by Skrulls.
The clip of the borg is from Voyager, no TNG xD
Do you think they're going to bring in the dire rates? The offshoot of scrolls that were in ROM space night
And in my opinion the dire rates were a lot worse
Introducing ROM would be awesome. End of day, how is Fury going to be able to tell who is a Skrull? Who invents that device?
Points were made 👏🏼
We're on Threads now bro
Maybe Gary Schandling but Sitwell and Steine died. We didn't see their dead bodies but they would've turned back into Skrulls and it seems unlikely no one would've mentioned it
Liked the video but I think the answer is pretty clear cut. Hydra had already been infiltrating Shield since the very beginning and the Skrulls only showed up in 1995. They probably already had Fury pegged as someone they wang to avoid and know wouldn't be an ally so when Nick Fury brings in a bunch of new agents they're not just gunna trust all these new people
This is a really out there theory
Guys, does anyone have the Hydra wallpaper shown at 1:56 in the video. I'm looking for that wallpaper in 1920x1080 and 2560x1440. That wallpaper would make an awesome background for a Hydra theme. Disney needs to make that available for download and take that same image and change it to a skrull logo with the same green lighting effect.
Surely a movie would have had even less runtime in which to tell such a complex story? I get your point about the budget but I don't think it would have been better because of it.
Secret Invasion so far more satisfying than Kang. Obadiah can still be a Skrull or Human Hydra. As a Skrull he would have been kept a secret by Fury, as just a rogue operative by Talos.
OH! That makes total sense that there are Skrulls in Hyrda because in Winter Soldier Fury is locked out of voice decryption *by his own authorization*. That's bothered me for so long.
RED SKRULL 😮
To Answer Your Question On Why Fury Never Used The Tesseract To Find A New home For The Scrools
1 - He Didn’t Know How To Or How To Go About It ( Technological Wise )
2 - He Didn’t Want To Experiment With A Force He Doesn’t Quite Understand
Hey I've found a good planet for the skrulls! What about Thanos retirement one? Looked like a good place and I think its vacant 😂
DISPLATE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏
PLOT HOLE: A lot of Skrull corpses discarded and not disposed of. Do skrull bodies decompose quickly OR are alien corpses second hand litter in this universe?
Am with Doug on this…”How?”
I'd love to see Tyne Daly return in any incarnation within the MCU.
Disney plus should do a show about agents of shield through the years of missions they did and show how hydra got In shield
Shout out to the What About Bob reference.
If Rhody was a skrull for years then that also means that it was a skrull on the mission to bring back half the universe during Endgame.
If Obadiah Stane was a skrull, the human version would have pop up somewhere afterwards and there would be a lot of explaining in Ironman 2. Now if black widow was a skrull, it would be easier for her return
I think the TV series is the prequel to the actual secret invasion. This is the demonstration that Skrulls are experimenting and creating super Skrulls.
We will think it's clamped down. But we will see them again further down the road. Where they will have actually infiltrated the Avengers. Maybe even Guardians of the Galaxy. This is just the beginning.
"Jarvis was in Endgame"
Mic Drop?? Lol...
Secret invasion would have been so good as a full season of agents of shield
They might be working together but surely they would have had to come a whole lot earlier to found it
Oh by the way did anybody else notice the extremist use of gravic at the diner scene when he got stabbed in the hand
What happened to all the people under Skrull control in stasis, when the snap happened?
