So the episode is called Betrayal, and just like you'd expect in any spy thriller, there are lots of betrayals in this episode.
Nick’s wife, Priscilla Fury aka Varra, is now a double agent working for Gravik-and that voice on the phone [clip]. Is Rhodey! So Rhodey is a skrull, like we predicted in our video last week, where we broke down every moment in the MCU where he could have been replaced-and he may have even been a skrull the whole time [the whole time].
We also have confirmation that Giah betrayed Gravik, Gravik betrayed her by murdering her-but more importantly, the word Betrayal does not just imply individual people being betrayed, it refers to how Gravik and his followers feel betrayed by human beings and Nick Fury. This ties into the painting that he shows Talos which I’ll talk about later on-but remember that Gravik’s motivation has nothing to do with dreams of conquest or religious prophecy-like the skrulls in the comic-gravik is doing this because he feels betrayed.
So the episode begins with Beto, the agent Giah recruited in the first episode, being given his first assignment. He and two others are changing into the centcom officers that nearly launch a nuclear weapon later in the episode.
Doug: Oh I didn't catch that.
Yeah when you watch it again, you see this guy is the one who is really pushing for the launch, then he’s the one who calls it off [clip].
Now in this scene Beto expresses doubt [will it work, causing chaos]. And their answer is telling [have faith in the future]. So in the first episode I talked about how the skrulls were carrying out the terrorist handbook, recruiting disaffected young soldiers with nothing to lose and promising them the world.
And terrorists often use this same tactic trading fear for faith. Could be faith in a higher power, or faith for a cause. This is an interesting way to tempt the secret invasion comics, where the skrulls’ conquest of earth is a religious crusade to obtain a promised land for their people.
It’s also an important change that in the comics, the skrulls are a conquering military force. In the show, they’re terrorists. Terrorists don't have the fighting power to win a straight-up fight, so the skrulls have to put the worlds’ militaries against each other.
Might move keeps ad here
The episode opens with Gravik bringing the skrull council into his transformation room, and explaining his end goal [super skrulls].
Doug: Yeah, so how does this work again?
Well, skrull can't replicate powers. But in the comics, they did create skrull with the abilities of the fantastic four: Klrt, aka the super skrull. We’ve kind of seen this before, in the 2007 movie fantastic four, rise of the silver surfer, when johnny storm got the abilite sof hte entire team [clip].
Then during Secret Invasion, the skrulls underwent a religious ceremony that allowed them to replicate powers of the heroes. And now, just like in the comics, Gravik has worked out how to transfer abilities from others onto the skrulls.
Gravik refers to the heroes-and super skrulls, as weapons of mass destruction. And remember, this is the exact comparison that future president thunderbolt ross made in captain america: civil war [clip, banner nukes].
Now there's a very interesting wrinkle added to the skrull council in this episode. Gravik is showing them his chamber, right?
And later in the episode, we see the members of the skrull council hooked up to these fracking pods, to pull out their memories.. So, I’m wondering if the people hooked up to the humans, or the skrull council members. Let me explain-
Back to what I was saying. So later we see the skrull council members hooked up to the fracking pods. Now remember, until recently, Talos was on the skrull council-and the council is still fairly moderate when Gravik meets with them [clip]. - Krátké a kreslené filmy

The ad inserts getting upsettingly clever; why did it have a plot😂😂
You guys like to jump to conclusions, wether it's theater or not it's pretty annoying at times, almost as annoying as your horribly handled sponsor plugs. Which are so forced and random it honestly comes off as desperate.... considering the fact that some of your sponsers (established titles) have been scams. I suggest making them more natural feeling in the future rather than shoving them into the middle of your video, kids are smart dude, they can tell when you're being insincere.
Anyone could easily tell that Prycilla was only working for Gravic until Nick returned, and if it wasn't obvious by the end there she was planning to flipping shoot the bastard.
Stay away from Keeps. Their drugs cause your blood pressure to drop and several other issues. They don’t really do their due diligence. You tell them what meds you’re on and they basically ignore it and prescribe you expensive meds. My doctor almost had their licenses pulled for their malpractice!
I have one question, the code was Zachary because Bob loved his son, but why did the skrull who was pretending to be Bob saved Zachary from Nick when
Zachary is not the skrull's son?
@@manalidas8140 he was still protecting another skrull loyal to the cause.
That talos ,and gravik scene was great . Talos taking charge at the end was tense ,but showed the resolve of his character to know he was surrounded, but stood up for his daughter.
I didnt understand why Talos didnt call out Graviks cowardice since he didnt dare to meet Talos alone and apparently only dared to run his mouth while he had back up. Also I dont understand why the skrulls wouldnt use their own tech to try to scout out for a planet. I mean, after 30 years, they forgot about telescope tech? What gives?
@@elmojomalotalos probably set the meet up publicly but didn’t know that they were skrulls, i dont think that gravik was scared to meet him one on one he probably woulda killed him honestly

I kinda expect that G'iah already been exposed to the machine, and gotten powers. I think she will heal from the gunshot wound via extremis ,and it will be super scrull vs super skrull in the mix I don't think any other supe will show up.
Wow great theory that makes 100 percent sense
And that also set her up as a new member of avengers team in future maybe
I really really REALLY like this theory. BTW I also suspect Rhodes is Skrull now, which means the Skrulls have the War Machine suit.
I have seen several point out that there are scenes with her in the trailers that not yet have been shown in the show ...
Probably and in the secret invasion trailer she is working with furys wife
The skulls helping shield fight the red room is pretty cool.
The skrulls been helping Fury this whole time since the 90s is nuts.

Yeah those skulls are fearsome. Especially since it's just bones no flesh😅
There are still several scenes with Emilia Clarke’s G’iah character we haven’t seen yet(like the scene where she is crying over a body in the what looks like the president attack scene, and the back to back shot holding a gun scene with Nick Fury’s wife). There is also a scene in a trailer where she is walking into the machine that makes them a super Skrulls as it lights up. My money is she is definitely not dead!
Beat me to it😅
Exactly thinking the same thing lol
I agree. When she got shot, I thought, that was too easy.
@@WDG1999I, on the other hand, thought the scene was too real for Marvel!
Woah I didn’t notice this. Thanks for pointing it out.
Talos is slowly becoming my favorite post endgame character in Marvel . Beyond enjoyable in every scene. Secret invasion page for page is great as is and I can’t imagine if it followed the comic! I’m happy with what we got regardless and next to G’s Vol 3 we’re cont to get some quality back!
the comic is brilliant, but lasted for many months not just 6 weeks. nobody knew what was going on for sure, until it was pretty much finished, and it also had multiple tie-ins, so a lot more content -deception and tension, and waiting for each instalment. but also we're talking two different mediums here, book vs tv, and they're not really comparable to be honest. story wise they're quite different, but also similar. i guess that might sound vague, but it's just like that with most of the mcu.
the tv series so far is brilliant as well, but until it's over, its hard to tell. still i'm loving it
01:40 The soldier (Skrull) who pushes for the nuclear strike to be carried out while his commander isn't sure doesn't call it off. He wants to go through with it, his commander pulls the key out before he can.
More than likely he was caught afterwards which would explain why Rohde was calling Furys wife as he would be worried the skrull will talk
@@joshuaburris6805 that's actually a pretty cool theory. But there were 3 Skrulls and I don't think it was Beto. So it probably was the old man Skrull from the start of the episode
@@OBP_Simon_Phoenix it doesn't matter which it was the idea of 1 skrull that knows the location and future plans of their group being caught would alarm members outside gravics inner circle
I'll be honest, it's kinda off-putting to me how a channel dedicated to explaining plots could misinterpreted such a clear-cut scene. And I've been noticing stuff like this very regularly lately.
@@danpsou yeah, especially since the commander angrily looks at the Skrull after. We'll probably see him captured next episode
What if... Varra is ACTUALLY Gravik's mother AND this whole thing is her idea? She introduced Fury to Gravik when he was a child whose parents were "killed" and she actively changed forms until she found one that pleased Fury.
I think G'iah is alive, her blood was red not green plus she knew that Gravik would be waiting. Likely she made herself some kind of super skrull power.
good point, i def think she has at least extremis or the other powers as well.
also she shouts "RED BLOOD RED BLOOD" in one of her red carpet interviews, about how to tell a human from a skrull. so its very interesting, and she may have given that away by accident in that interview 🤔🤔🤔
@@slack__ Oooooh...what if she released the human she's impersonating, and THAT is who Gravik shot?
@@LatenightLyle I like this theory more 😅

Ryan Arey has been replaced by a Skrull. The real Ryan might not catch everything (he catches a damn bit more than I do) but no way he'd have entertained that Gaiya died in this episode when there are a myriad of officially released images and promotional videos that he's discussed that show her very much involved in events that have yet to take place in the show. Nice try K'lurt!
I don’t want Emilia’s character to be dead, she has so much potential in the MCU. That said, it was a great episode. Marvel is at its best in these thrillers.
There's shots of her in the trailers that haven't happened yet.
@@TheLewistownTrainspotter8102 i actually hope she isnt dead. We already had a death that shouldnt be undone. BUT this isnt the first time the trailer shows images that dont actully happen in the series.
It could be that she just turned back after not fatally being shot so it appeared that she died, honestly would be a smart move for skrulls fighting other skrulls
@@Clownking12345 that was my first thought as well!
Me too!! 🤚🤚
Didn't Rhodes call Fury Nick in ep 2. Fury might've be in distress in the bench scene since after that encounter he realized that Rhodes was a skrull 🤷🏻♂️
i noticed that one too, at first i thought that rhodes didnt have anymore respect to fury thats why he called him Nick plus he also fired fury so rhodes doesnt have anymore reasons to call him "director" or "fury"
THIS. Absolutely agree. Fury knows Rhodes is a skrull.
Oh yeah, that probably is ehy he's so upset. This episode he tells Talos he thinks there's a Skrull high up in the military. So he knows/suspects Rhodes.
The tell is the glasses. Fury's glasses let him know Rhodes was a Skrull.
Woa! By that time I interpreted it as a simple disrispect from Rhodes, but you are right! Indeed, this makes the following scene even more deep, because Fury throw himself on the park bench in despair at knowing his best ranked ally it's not there anymore!
Emilia Clarke's G'iah character likely survived because there is a scene in the trailers where she is grieving over someone's body. Maybe G'iah used the super skrull machine before escaping the compound.
When giah runs away from the Captive pods after revealing the code , you can sort of see rhodey's body , cause the face structure looks exactly similar and he's wearing an official suit so this could be the first reveal and hence his voice later in the episode. This could also mean that he has been captured recently once he started rising ranks in the government after endgame
i was surprised that scene wasnt covered in the video. it was a really quick shot tho
I love the actor / character Gravik ! He’s so good ! I’m diggin the series so far , it’s definitely better than the last project!
Better than many previous D+ shows
I just watched World War Z for the first time the other day, and i saw him for like 2 seconds in it, guy doesnt age lol.
Better than a few others!!
@@apoorvsingh4459and yet you watched them
Why do you have to put negative in with your positive?
I thought this episode was somewhat light on plot advancements tbh. Gravik seemed to already know G’aia was a spy so the super villain plot he hatched to confirm and kill her seems like it was either a waste or unnecessary plot twist if she’s in fact still alive. Especially if that twist would rely on things we didn’t see (eg her using the machine to gain power)
The whole series so far has been somewhat light on (genuine) plot advancements. Stuff has certainly occurred but nothing of any Earth-shattering consequence.
That phone call blew my mind. Even though I expected to find out Rhodey was a Skrull, I didn't expect to find out there and then, and that way, and IT WAS DOPE.
This episode, & this show as a whole are just so good!
Why did Talos appear to age 5 years in the last 30 (normal for a Skrull) but Priscilla looks like she aged 30 years in the last 30 (normal for a human)? Is she just choosing to do so because she is maintaining an ongoing human identity that other humans expects to age?
Loved this video. Love the show so far.
Thanks for clearing a bunch of stuff up. Now, I’ll rewatch a the series and the movie to reacquaint myself with everything!!!
Rhodey isn't the Skrull ... Fury is. The rebel faction is active on the base and replaced him there, sending him down to Earth to help set Gravik's plan into motion. The real Fury is still on the space station, hidden away. I think Rhodey has it figured out and has enlisted Fury's wife to deal with him. That's why Rhodey volunteered to meet with Fury in person. To see for himself.
That's an interesting theory, and one I hadn't heard yet!
If this isn't true, I'll always say it ought to have been
Nice theory and plot twist
Rhode being a skrull all this time is crazy. Maybe that y Nick had a breakdown and had to sit on the bench last episode after they talked..and I wonder if Tony knew that his best friend was a skrull all this time…man this show keeps getting better FINALLY
He was a skrull when don Cheadle took over for Terrence Howard they thought we wouldn’t have noticed
If he is a skrull, Tony didn't know. There's no point in speculating because if Tony ever knew then he would obviously try to free his friend.
I doubt it's going to have been for too long they aren't gunna wanna ruin all our favorite rhodey moments (as few as there are) by having it not be him
@@Collect2DisconnectThe only way a Skrull could have taken over his body is after he was injured in Civil War.. If he was a Skrull, when he was shot out of the sky and Tony removed his face piece his blood would have been purple.. I thought that it was tight!!!!!! Rhoddie's voice at the end threw me!!!! Love the content.....keep ot up bruh!!!!
THANKS for this, Ryan and Doug! OMG, are you guys parodying "Indecent Proposal?" LMAO!!!
There's actually a great song about skeletons who use bones as their money, it's also about the day Robert Palins did something, idk, but the bones as money part is amazing, Doug gets it.

Love your videos! Thanks 😊
I think if Rhodey is a Skrull he's only been one recently. I think Carol Danvers would've known. Also Fury was able to tell Rhodey's servicemen were Skrulls. So someone would've known
Gi’ah is still alive we see other footage of her from future episodes. The one I don’t think that will be making it out alive is Talos. She probably has extremis in her body which will heal her.
I love your breakdown
The other interesting thing I noticed was Priscilla used a pink flip phone in the kitchen with Fury when she took the first "suspicious" phone call.
The phone she used after that was a regular "slate" shaped phone
I noticed the same
G'iah probably exposed herself to the Super Skrull machine and just posed dead, as I'm fairly sure there are still trailer scenes with her, that episode had me shivering for like the whole submarine story...
When Gravik had his hand stabbed, it wasn’t because it was similar to the human torch, he was using Extremis’ powers.
He was using Killian's powers
Yes, but they can't say he has the human torch's powers because he wasnt introduced yet. The four dna samples Gaia Saw was "coincidentialy" matching the fant4stic's powers...
So, as Eric vauss said in his video, maybe after "the marvels" we could see the fantastic 4 origin related to that.

Can we just acknowledge how silly it would be to send Beto on a mission? The newbie who just arrived, can't maintain eye contact, and clearly isn't as invested as the rest of them is the perfect person to trust after just a few days in your secret organization right?
I think that was him getting Exposed to what’s go come so field experience is needed

My only real question is why did the Bob Skrull care about what happened to Zachary?
Had he just spent so long around the kid he’d come to care for him, did absorbing the originals memory give him some of the same attachments or did he just not want to see a kid die?

Again, just because Rhodey *might* be a Skrull now, doesn’t mean he has been this whole time. I don’t get why you’re so hung on the theory he was one all along. It would be really stupid of Marvel to erase the role Rhodey played all this time as an Avenger and Tony’s best friend.
Seeing all those humans in comas in the radiation plant means their slowly being subjected radiation poisoning and if Roadeys a Skrull he may be their too. What does this mean for Don Cheadles character? Could this plot point be brought up in Armor Wars?

There is something odd about the painting at 8:46 "Statesmen of World War I". Gravik focuses on Chruchill during his speach about two groups (one dying and one posing for pictures) but Churchill was the one man, in the picture, who both fought in the trenches (after he was sacked for the Gallipoli decible) and was a statesman. Also the paintings title is a bit odd. It was shown in 1930 before WW2 so could not be called "World War I" as World War 2 had not happened yet. Its original title was "The Signing of Peace in the Hall of Mirrors, Versailles, 28th June 1919." Another example of this shows ambiguity.
Omg this makes armor wars so much crazier I think
I think killing Gaia now would be a wasted character. also, this story isn't an anyone can die story, it's an anyone can be evil story. I would want some Gaia Monica interactions as they seem to be starting to become friends back in the day and she might be a good pick for young Avengers, (or new Avengers.)

I’m confident this Fury is a life model decoy. It’s the perfect time to finally introduce this into the main MCU considering it allows Fury to be steps ahead playing the same game as Skrulls. It kinda explains some of Fury’s interactions, most notably with Talos.

I think having another scene in this episode of the "hostages" in those pod things is a reminder that while "x has been a skrull", they're still, you know, alive. Still there. Still can be a character dependent on when they were replaced.
So I don't know if I completely buy Gravik put the Fury Skrulls in those pods to be replaced by his own crew. But I don't know comics about Skrulls impersonating Skrulls.
I'm pretty sure Rhodey is not a Skrull, and in fact, he is working with Gravik to gain Gravik's trust or something along those lines.
I think that whole thing with Fury last week was just for show...
I laughed when she answered her phone without so much as a hello and said "I don't have that information." Totally normal phone call... pfffft
Edit: Also having your sons name as the security code is so boomer
G’iah isn’t dead, my guess is that she got the extremis when she was in the lab.. either way regardless of the how, she survived bc there’s a bunch of footage of her from the trailers that we have yet to see

Awesome video as usual. Rhodes called him "Nick", Fury told Talos that he had a Skrull high up in the government while Talos was eating. Fury knows Rhodey has been compromised. I don't think Rhodey has been a Skrull the entire MCU, the Skrull version of Rhodes had an attitude that was much different from the Rhodes we know.
I just want to thank you for putting the Joker clip in at the end because that’s exactly what I was thinking about when you said “Who do you trust?”

The "Dracarys" into IM3's Killian breathing fire was inspired!!
When Braddock says “I like my espresso with some sugar” it reminded me of a line from the song “Intergalactic” by the Beasty Boys.”I like my sugar with coffee and cream” The song is about aliens and such and I thought that was fitting.
The 2 tapestries in the background i think is funny, on Graviks side there is the King/Leader, but.. can only move slightly, on Talos's side there is the Queen, not as POWERFUL atm, but can move a lot more atm.
You all should review sound of freedom!!
I think this is one of the best Disney Plus shows yet, it's a shame not many people are watching it
Adding Sally Fields from Mrs. Doubtfire was genius!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Another subtle Battlestar Galactica note:
As words smash together or in the usage of the possessive, Gaia's . . . I kept hearing Gaius, as in Gaius Baltar.
Surprised you didn't mention the use of green. They can't afford to have the Skrulls looking like Skrulls all the time. But for the opening scenes dealing with all Skrull characters they went out of their way to fill the scenes with green. Big pieces of the set, costumes... They even have them using computers with the old school green crt monitors. And when Fury goes to meet his future wife the diner isn't all green but has big hits if green here and there.
first, this episode was good, can’t wait for more.
The show is great!
7:20 is gold😂, who comes up with that
I think it's interesting that Talos did to Fury what Fury tried to do to Rhodey in the previous episode in doing the whole "I made you" claim.
It's like poetry; it rhymes.
Never thought I'd see my hometown referenced in the MCU. Big up Portsmouth
Nice episode that sets up the second half of the season well.
