    I think the best joke is when Cliff is telling Mikey about how Priscilla's family reacted to him as a suitor. Mikey's response was "Yeah, it's always heartwarming to see a prejudice defeated by a deeper prejudice."

    Can't go wrong with John Sayles. And so diverse in genre. Baseball in Eight Men Out, politics in Silver City, family fantasy in The Secret of Roan Inish, sci-fi in Brother from Another Planet.. And all the State-themed films. Obviously this one is Texas, Silver City is Colorado, Sunshine State is Florida, Limbo is Alaska, and Matewan is 1920s union-busting in West Virginia. And he wrote a novel about oil in North Dakota. Brilliant artist.

      He’s one of the greatest and underrated director. Obviously directors who don’t work on the studio system don’t get as much overall praise but directors like him and John Casavetes. deserve more love then they have gotten.

      @@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia It's probably too late in the day to hope for Sayles himself to direct, but I'd love to see his novel Yellow Earth put on film. It's about big oil, fracking and the exploitation of local people as well as the land in the Bakken region of North Dakota. Not the stuff of big budget Hollywood movies, buy maybe an indie devotee could pick it up.

      @Hexon66 That’s a movie I would love to see and a lot like this movie it’s still very topical today and that’s something people should see and hear. Maybe if more people saw a movie like Lone star there would be more pice in the world.

    I guess I was looking for more of a film analysis, especially the ambiguous ending, rather than a Criterion commercial.

      My reviews are split in to two halves. The film review and the 4K blu ray review. I don’t go to deep because of time when it comes to the film. We do have other shows on the channel that are long form reviews of just the films themselves. When you see Film & 4k blu ray review. This is how they are structured. But check out the rest of the channel. We do a lot of different things.

    I had given up on this movie ever being released on anything other than DVD. I've ordered the 4k version and I cannot wait to see it. It is such a good movie.

      It really is an amazing. I’ve been thinking about this movie a lot since I saw it. I honestly can’t believe this film doesn’t get brought up more.

    Hey! Loved your review! Do you have any idea where I can find this John Sayles's blueray interview online? Thanks! :D

      Thanks for watching I really appreciate it! I would say it’s on youtube somewhere unless it got copyright claimed. Which could have happened.

    I still think you made this movie up
    Most of the stuff you talk about about, I’ve seen or at a minimum I’ve heard of them.

    • @LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia
      @LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia  Před 5 měsíci

      Same with me. I’ve heard the name but had no idea of the plot or who was in it. The artwork caught my eye and then I looked in to it. I’m telling you give this one a try.

    Permanent rotation, have you watched them all again or is there a massive queue with no end in sight... tell me more? 🤔

    • @LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia
      @LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia  Před 5 měsíci +1

      So when I say permanent rotation that means i’m going to rewatch within the next two years. I have movies that I watch every year and then there are movies I watch every two years any more then that I wouldn’t say their in the permanent rotation i’ll just I might revisit this in the future or sometimes their one and done for me.

    • @LaughMuBai
      @LaughMuBai Před 5 měsíci +1

      Cheers! I guess as you're a reviewer you have a good excuse to collect at will, else a watch on streaming to vet your choices for likely a more pleasurable re-watch would make more sense.@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia

    • @LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia
      @LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia  Před 5 měsíci +1

      @LaughMuBai Ideally I would rather watch it on streaming first before I buy a movie to see if I like it but I like to do one NEW release 4K blu ray a week at least for the viewers and this one stuck out on a pretty slow week for new releases. I have gotten burned on this strategy before lol. Sometimes like Lone Star it pays off and I find one of those special films.

    • @LaughMuBai

      Lone Star was a good choice, and one I'm waiting for is Vanishing Point...

      @LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia  Před 5 měsíci +1

      @LaughMuBai That’s one that hasn’t had a solid physical release in a very long time. I can see Arrow Video doing that movie actually.

      I didn’t see that comment actually. Sorry about that buddy. Sometimes they don’t sent it to me for some reason. I haven’t seen that yet but it’s on my Hulu watch list. Did you like it?

      If you hold it in that high regard I have to check it out. I haven’t heard to many people even bring that film up. But the reviews were great and it’s gotten other award buzz. I’m definitely checking it out.

      @themtgdude486 Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia Hell yea! I hope you like it. I also noticed the same thing with nobody talking about it. Maybe if it gets some traction online more people will check it out.
      I actually saw on IMDb it’s currently #57 on the top 250 list too. In my opinion, absolutely deserving. I’ve seen it twice now and showed it to my wife. Her review was, one of the best movies she’s ever seen lol.

    • @LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia
      @LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia  Před 5 měsíci +1

      @mgehani90 It’s really all down to promotion. All the movies that get the award buzz, Their holding screenings in LA and going out to meals with voters. Thats why you see everyone taking about the same 15 movies from 2023. It bothers me because they’ll tell you those are the best but that’s not the case. I’m glad you told me about this because i’ll be checking it out for sure now!
