One of my favorite movies. Outstanding performances. RIP Elizabeth Pena. Excellent review and explanation of the movie.
I really enjoyed this film and this 4K edition is a good one.
I just watch this Movie. Incredible movie. Mystery. With all Flashbacks. Acting of Chris Cooper was Amazing. An that ENDING oh boy. This must see movie 🍿.
Really good movie totally agree. Was a first time watch for me too. Looks amazing on the 4K format as well.
As long time fans of John Sayles, when Lone Star premiered in 1996, my wife and I saw it in a theater and we loved the film. Some time later, I bought a laser disc copy of Lone Star. Back in 2023, I watched the laser disc again. Yes, it's true, I still have a working Pioneer laser disc player!
Your recent review of Long Star as a 4k Criterion release now got me interested in purchasing it
the next time Criterion has a 1/2 price sale.
I've watched a few of your reviews and am impressed with them a great deal. Thanks!
Bill, glad you enjoy the reviews! That is awesome you and your wife had the opportunity to experience this film in the theater when it came out. This new 4K looks like it recreates that experience nicely for home viewing. Hold on to that old Pioneer laser disc player!
I am 46 and remember seeing this film when I was young. It's a testament to this film that it is still 100% relevant. In some ways, I wish it wasn't, but Sayles absolutely is ahead of his time here.
I love this film so much!!!🕺😎
It’s a good movie for sure! Thanks for watching!
I love Lone Star! It's peak John Sayles. Next up, they should remaster Sunshine State, Matewan, or Brother From Another Planet (if they haven't done so already--I dont follow Criterion very closely)
Will be interesting to see what future releases Criterion may do of Sayles’ films.
Criterion actually put Matewan out on Blu-ray in 2019. Great Release! 👍
@@stimpy2695 thats awesome! i looked it up soon after posting this, and noticed it had already been put out. i'm going to get it for sure!
Watching for the first time, it's a good movie overall a slow burner, but was disappointed in Matthew McConaughey's lack of screen time. I assumed he was at least in a supporting role.
I just watched it and wanted to see some commentary on it so thank you. I was somewhat confused by the message but watching a film that came out 28 years ago was so fascinating. It really feels like people haven’t changed in some regards.
It's a good movie for sure and I'm glad you had a chance to watch it and glad you enjoyed this review!
I'll definitely be getting Lone Star 4K during the next flash sale and replace my DVD 😀 I also have Matewan and Liked that film as well. A couple other Sayles films worth checking out are Baby It's You - one of his early ones from 1983 with Rosanna Arquette, a 1960's high school period piece, and one of my favorites of his - Eight Men Out, which is about the 1919 Chicago Black Sox and their World Series scandal. Also of note - he wrote the screenplay for THE HOWLING and has a small role in it. That's a great movie to check out and review 😄
Thank you for the recommendations of other Sayles films, PDX! Ha ha. Another The Howling connection 😀. With Sayles writing it it’s bound to be good. The stars are aligning for me to check it out soon.
Great review. May definitely check it out for the upcoming Flash Sale.
Yes, a good one for the 50% off sales for sure, Travelin Man!
Thanks James, well done as always. Yet another film I've never seen but interest generated.
Glad you enjoyed it, Pete!
I can recommend the films Eight Men Out and Limbo from Sayles.
Thank you for the recommendations!
I need this bad 😩
It’s a good one!
