Yo we finally got lone star from daisuke. I’m pumped for the Trainspotting review!!!
Hi Daisuke, you know I'm happy about Lone Star getting a bluray and 4K , no less. Just one of Sayles' masterworks in my opinion. Confident, assured, beautiful and how to do a perfect cross-cultural , present and past. All about myth making, storytelling, family and how the past is living with us, on our shoulders, rather than a separate entity. Love your exposure of it. Hopefully your viewers will discover it and more of John Sayles work.
I saw Lone Star in the theater when it came out. Blew me away. I own it (still) on VHS! John Sayles and Chris Cooper are 2 of the many reasons I adore this film so much. Great soundtrack, too. I was so happy to see this & Dogfight, To Die For, and Trainspotting coming out on Criterion. Sayles is a top-notch director/writer. Chris Cooper is one of my favorite actors
GREAT film, very underrated
I’ve heard quite a bit about this film lately and I want to get it and watch it. Thank you for talking about this Daisuke, I hope you’re doing well. Please take care and have a great rest of your week!
It's utterly fantastic. Rightly regarded as one of the seminal pieces of American independent filmmaking.
Lone Star is a lot like Hard Eight from Paul Thomas Anderson. Both are more obscure and also truly great at the same time.
Lone Star is actually up for free right now on CZcams, which is a great way to experience it before purchasing.
Really enjoyed this one. I made a point to watch it before buying, and it’s one I definitely plan to add to my collection.
