Thanks for the video. €50 billion from the EU might be mostly non-military. But the EU will also separately from that €50 billion provide over €21 billion in military aid in 2024. There is an EU ammo procurement fund. I think that fund is €1,5 billion or similar. And nobody should think that we in the EU are stopping there. We are only just starting. Mordor should really have thought twice about engaging the richest countries in the world. FAFO.

G , pretty sure Canada will be sending 83,000 crv7 rockets, basically a hydra rocket but nearly twice the distance and a bigger blast..there's also Flechette rounds....so should give Ukranian helicopter pilots more standoff range and better accuracy
Thank you Canada.
@@drogna3905 hopefully but they were set to be decommissioned 2 years ago so I don't see why they wouldn't be sent...saves us money and benefits Ukraine..a win win
@lukeamato423 Well, if they use American math, the decommissioned weapons will cost the same as whatever replaced them, which will have to be approved before they can be sent. Watch how Joe Public gets antsy when the scrap weaponry suddenly has a value counted in billions, rather than in the negative values it’s presently shown on the books with. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
Stugna, artillery and so on are not dependent on the weather. If it rains, if it snows there are not drones in the sky. At least for now. This is an important feature.
I can't give details, but I can confirm that tech similar to what you talked about is in the works. The speed that these technologies are being developed by UA should absolutely terrify any person in the RF who wants to live.
That's music to my ears and it brings a smile to my face, thanks.
Trust in the AFU. Their internal processes used to get a staggering amount of highly skilled engineering talent working for them are something I don't believe any military has ever done.
Hi Svd
This is the norm. Technology always advances in leaps and bounds, during war, because the need is urgent and the purse is open. Nobody’s doing time and motion studies, or cost/benefit analyses, trying to shave a quarter of a cent off the price of each unit. The developers are given a problem to solve and fee rein to do it. The products are intended for home use, not for sale so the final cost is less important than the ability to perform the desired task.
Making it affordable falls to commercial enterprises, when the conflict is over and the technology becomes surplus to military requirement's. So it was with jet engines, rocket propulsion systems, radar, and more recently gps. The initial development was done without budget limitations, for military use, then adapted and streamlined by the civilian sector later. This is another time of rapid development and things will exist next year that had not been dreamed of, two years ago.
Thanks for the update and views

Ukraine literally has an ammo shortage and Russian meat waves still haven't taken the city yet lmao
Just a friendly reminder to everyone: we are less than a month away from spring coming to Ukraine. And when spring comes to Ukraine, MUD comes to Ukraine. And you don't know want to be on the offensive when MUD is covering all of the battlefield ground. So if Ukraine is able to protect their supply route to Avdiivka, the coke plant in Avdiivka, and the center of Adviivka itself all the way to March when spring/MUD season officially comes to Ukraine, well Russia will be suffering one hell of a disaster if they(Russia) haven't been able to take Avdiivka by March and they are still wanting to take Avdiivka in March. And remember, there are only 29 days in February this year and we are now on the sixth day of February, so Ukraine just need to hold on to Adviivka for 23 more days before Russia is officially in a disaster.
Always good to hear your updates G.

Good job, Newman
About production of drones en masse is good. But Stugna is also important. Keeping fear factor up is good . Having 10 Stugnas or one himars rocket or 5 artillery shells vs one stugna then I say Stugna is important. Every weapon is important. For Estonia the weapon we use is side mines it is 10x cheaper than drone and Ukraine ataches those mines to their drones. But also side mines prevent tanks and infantry rolling in to positions. having claymores and at side mines fixed to trees in treeline tanks can't roll in as they do now also havinh thos in urban figting is very handy. Drones can be jammed as now and there is threat that it can be done so even more.
Denying Avdiivka to Putin's forces has a significant political importance, at least until Putin's inevitable 're-election' in March.
Strategically, its main importance is as a draw for Russians & a killing ground.
Exactly. I keep trying to make that point on various channels and every single time I try, the comment is deleted. Thank you.

Shells aren't the biggest issue, I heard it's the charges that fire the shells that is hard to come by.
A CNN report of last week reports on a howitzer position in operation which had exactly zero explosive shells. To compensate a bit, they started to fire smoke grenades at times. That shell shortage is very real. Maybe that charge shortage happens elsewhere, happens on top, or reduces the number of shells manufactured.

The massed 500tanks are in fact the remainder of the 600 that were announced in previous massing of the tanks in this same area... so thank you RU for informing us that you lost 100 tanks during the past months....
The story of drones is the war in microcosm. Russia has huge advantages (on paper) in men, tanks, planes, ships, artillery and now drones. But their innate inability to improvise, think outside the box, act independently, solve problems and continued corruption, inferior supplies, poor training, bad command and a lack of strategic thinking has more than evened the playing field for Ukraine. I can see Ukraine quietly overwhelming them with endless drones - not just tanks or troops but increasingly refineries, pipes, processing plants, fuel and ammo depots, factories...
Now that the US has effectively abandoned Ukraine I'm sure the thinking is, "WTF should we care about the price of oil or if Putin will get upset or if someone , somewhere will wring their hands?"
Exactly. Ukraine now has no reason to respect US red lines on hitting orc stuff in their country.

Josep Borell urging EU member states NOW to direct their production into Ukraine is just baffling. This should have been in effect since spring 2022 already. I'm just speechless how such a ruling wasn't implemented long ago already.
Another better late than never decision, yes. Not impressive I agree.
Yes we in the EU have been way too slow. I hope we speed up. Because Europe is on its own now. No help from the US.
You can stay baffled for ever wherever. E.g America...yet quite baffling to say the least.. Besides there is a lapse between perceiving a problem and acknowledge that it IS a problem..
Hello Georgijs. A good news update, and thanks for your thoughts and perspectives as well. I'm so glad to see the path Ukraine is taking to maximize it's strengths and to fortify it's production capabilities. That railway guy sounds like a great choice to head it all up. I hope that once this manufacturing hub is spun up their are combat veterans with service connected disabilities who would like to be on the team as advisors and employees where applicable adding their expertise in areas they have experience in, as well as good paying opportunities for those who gave so much. Really can't wait for the fighting falcons (F16) comes around.
Ukraine has already done a good job disturbing RU logistics, but those birds combined with a few HARMs will be a force multiplier... it's not just a 1 to 1 improvement. They can talk to Patriots, HIMARS and Skynex in real time...
Question will be if Ukraine has enough systems and ammo to keep up. (Please US, get your domestic politics sorted soon)
Regarding drones, it's also important to remember that Ukraine isn't hit by western sanctions.
So, if manufacturers have been wise enough to make their designs modular, you can replace radios very easily, making it very difficult to jam all of them at once.

Thanks Georgjis for the update . Good news about the shells, manufacturing and the reduction of soviet era artillery stock. I can't wait for covert cabals update on tank /apc stock with the amount that is being destroyed daily on the the front lines.
Ukrainian MoD reports russian losses daily. There are also websites providing statistics (google for "Tracking russia's losses in Ukraine") for these numbers. Currently 10 tanks/day and 18 APV/day on average over the last 6 months. That said, I'm keen on his satellite photo counts as well and will celebrate the day he says "can't find anything left".
This is very good news. It's so important to be not solely dependent on the Americans. Better, we need a strong defense here. Cost efficiency, effectivity and flexibility are very important. And we need a strong network with the best supply chains.

I worry that Russia can now more easily maintain fire control over the Ukrainian supply lines and then thats a wrap. Ukraine is doing a great job attiring the Russian military and has to be allowed to trade space for time. Eventually Russia will not be able to keep this up any longer and Ukraine will have its moment.
You have to take into account the topography @ghostmourn The city is on higher ground to where the z's are advancing on the railway/coke factory side. Urban fighting is a slow process. I hope you are wrong... we will just have to wait and see.
Some EU statistics that might be interesting. (Figures not including the UK or Norway, I presume). EU meeting press brief in Brussels, 31 Jan. 2024. Josep Borrell and Ludivine Dedonder.
NB: only 155mm shells were mentioned. But we already know that some ex. Warsaw Pact nations are providing 152mm shells to UA. If those countries are in the EU now I assume those 152mm shells are also included in these numbers.
Borrell: The EU has so far provided €28 billion of military equipment and support to Ukraine since 2022. The commitment by the EU member states for 2024 so far is €21 billion, and that figure will be adjusted upwards because some states are still pending. The EU have trained 40,000 soldiers, and another 20,000 by this summer.
The EU ammo initiative: the member states promised last year to deliver 1 million arty shells per year. Since last March until Jan. 2024, 330,000 shells have been delivered. By March 2024 there will be another 200,000 shells. By the end of 2024 planned deliveries will reach more than 1 million shells. The situation is however changing every day.
The EU arty production capacity has increased by 40% since Feb 2022. Today the production capacity is 1 million shells/year. By the end of 2024 the capacity will be 1,4 million. It will continue to increase because the industry has been mobilised. Procurement contracts have the remaining spare capacity for an estimated volume of 1,5 billions. (I think Borrell meant €1,5 billion, not sure).
Borrell: “We need to move from an emergency mode for support to UA, to a long-term approach”.
Dedonder, in French and autotranslated, in short: The EU will provide short-term and long-term support to UA. €28 billion is not enough and we will certainly not stop there. Belgium will double its UA aid. The EU industry will produce at least 1 million shells. An enormous amount of work has been done here especially by the Breton commissioner (?) who visited lots of countries. Strengthening of the EU defence industry is needed. It's not easy after many years of disarmaments. We need to put everyone back on track. Everyone has understood the issues. There will be a paradigm shift and structural adaptation. She also mentioned rapid deployment capability in the EU.
A journalist asked what the unbalance on the UA battlefield is. Borrell wouldn't give exact numbers presumably due to OPSEC. But he said UA needs more support and he has passed on to the member states that they need to do more, and quicker. The battle is fierce.
Another journalist asked why we are only at 52% of our ammo goal and what lessons can be learnt from this. Borrell: “It's about creating momentum, setting a goal and expanding. When we said 1 million shells the production capacities were not well identified. We managed to increase capacity by 40%. At the end of the year there will be a new goal. I don't know because the process changes every day. But we have gained speed. There is an initial inertia. But when the movement has begun it's the energy which sets up the factory. We have frameworks for joint procurements. It's about creating a positive dynamic. We will reach a ceiling and continue there permanently. Europe must increase its defense capabilities. Today to help UA and tomorrow to help ourselves.”
Thank you

I put it to you that much like Bakhmut, Avdiivka is more of a fixing type operation for the Ukrainians at this point.
By that I mean that whilst somewhat costly to the Ukrainians, the Russians have been throwing a lot of resorces at the area for a while now, to make minimal gains, while taking disproportionately heavy casualties (in a western country the personnel casualties would be a huge concern, but from the Russian perspective the equipment casualties would be the real problem).
Essentially the Ukrainians are bleeding the Russians as dry as possible for something of limited strategic value, and when the time is right, if they are smart(which they seem to be) they'll just pull back to another set of prepared defensive positions and pose the Russians with the exact same tactical problem again.
Just my opinion.
💛💙
Well loosing adiivka certainly isn't nice but like you said its isn't the end of the world. actaly for th defense it doesn't really matter that much. Especially if those new rockets are comming in. It just cancels some nice scenario's that would be possible if they go on the ofensive again. To be honest when they started to be serious about taken the city i expected it already have fallen. The taking of avdivvka probable can be considered a win for Ukraine even if they loose it. The russian paid a way to high price for taken it even if Ukraine moves out today.
The fact that the map hasn't really changed is solid evidence that Russia is losing.
God bless Ukraine 🇺🇦 🇺🇦🇺🇦❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
What Zelenski meant by "updating" is not about Zaluzny specifically but about all governance, including Zelenski himself, because it was 5 years rotation period after presidential election in 2019 and new election in Ukraine supposed to be in March 2024. And new parliament election soon after it. But it can't happen because of a war time and partial occupation. So governing rotation is needed (and not only Zaluzny) but it will not happen any time soon
Yes, that was how I interpreted it, when I finally got to see it for myself. Actually holding elections is not feasible, while almost 20% of the country is occupied and the residents cannot vote, even if a way could be found to make it safe for the rest of the population.
Zelenskyy has said that he won’t run for reelection, whenever the war is won and elections can take place. But I was hoping he’d stay the course and see the war out in the hot seat himself. He’s known and respected throughout the civilised world.

Ukrainian military has to be allowed to trade space for time to maximize the attrition against the Russian army. Eventually Russia will not be able to keep this up and Ukraine will have its day in the sun. The EU and the US are going to keep supplying Ukrainian army and thats going to start paying off as Russia runs out of material imo. What worry's me is 1) defending these city's (Like Avdiivka.) for too long for political reasons. 2) not dealing with manpower issues, if there was ever a time for a draft/mobilization this has got to be that time.
