Just a tip when using that press. You need to apply some grease to the threads on that press, (actually they make a special high-compression grease for that.) Notice at 12:04 in the video how much you already had started to take meat off of the threads on that worm screw. By using the impact, you're going much faster, but you're building up a LOT of pressure and heat on those threads that you don't realize while it's happening!

Be sure to mark the position on the parts with a paint marker as its all balanced together and you can throw it out of balance by not putting it back together in the same orientation.

@@joshuapitts6843 from the factory the drive shaft and yoke on the differential is balanced together. So you want your driveshaft to line up with the original position it was put in the yoke of the diff. Some say it doesn't matter if the shaft is already balanced but its good practice to do so.

joshua pitts only on 2 piece driveshafts you mark them..there is no reason to mark them if it’s a one piece driveshaft

Hey thanks for the video ! It helped a lot 😆
Do you have a body or a suspension lift on your truck. It looks really nice ! How many inches ?
My Canyon rides really low, so I need to do something I just dont know whats better. Maybe a leveling kit would help ? Idk

On the ball joint press. On amazon there’s a $49. One and an $89. One. Is there any advantage of getting the $89 one?

Hey dude thank you for doing this video. It is extremely helpful. I always use these videos to diagnose my truck. Then after the fix it video if I think I can handle it. I just try fixing myself. I managed couple minor fix's. But this drive shaft I really want to do myself; if I actually can. Lol I'm hoping I don't get stuck in that last step of prying it this way n that way. If it takes muscle that'll b end for me . But if it's just aggravating trying to extract the joint this way & that way. I c removingan deal with aggravating. )(,Only for my truck though. It like my best friend. Only one I count on.) Sorry got sidetracked. Anyway ya if u start video with list of tools needed; I know it save me from 5or 6 rewinds in video. Perty pls

Does anyone one youtube know about phasing a driveshaft , that when you mark it on the yoke and the rear end so it goes back on the exact same way cuz shafts are balanced. I guess I payed attention in my school and of coarse I got the class award anyway. Hehehe. Seriously everyone should be doing that

I’ve done u joints before, with the age of my pops, watching over me, but we didn’t put one quite right together, and a cap fell off while driving, causing me to go into panic mode, so we took it BACK off and took it to a professional, of course. 2002 avalanche with toasted u joints. How much they’re gonna charge this day and age for replacement, because I simply don’t have the strength.

Instead of buying that press, you should have rented it from a car parts store. Especially since you normally don't use it that often.

All sockets are impact rated until they aren't. (This is not advice, nor is it safe... but yaknow, the job gets done.)

U probably knew that not b end of me. Sorry but I need also to ask if u-joint feels locked up when trying to turn it by hand;;; would that b my sign that it's a good or bad one? Or is a very loose one sign of it being bad. Mine rattling like a metal dice going round n round in my wheel. My son said wiggle driveshaft . ( He lives to far to not try advising me first.) So loose gd Right? tight bad , right? Or opposite? ,I try my best not to ask mechanical questions when talking to my kid. It's hard cuz he is the best mechanic I know. But nobody wants to work 24/7.He's also his citys mechanic there for u know cop cars city trucks. Anything with a motor. I can't budge it. So gd or bad? ( O it only started the noise late last night backing in my drive way. It was driving me crazy cuz even though aside from noise it running great. But noise has to mean it won't b running gd for long. I'll Google how long it takes later but if back one is fine there is a front one, right. I missed that n havnt gone back to video yet. I'll go ck n u let me know if taking off the front will b exact same as back one. k? Pls sir. O the ball press; what other uses does it have.? ( I'll b needing to know wether renting or buying it, is in my best interest.. And $50 is halfway to new floor mats. I swear that was my last message. Lol ha didn't say I was done with this one quite yet. Any tools I buy between 2 yrs ago and the end of me using tools;;; they'll go to Anthony2cnd. Ya he just like his dad when it comes to b a natural.with all things motorized. He 16 and already been through one full dressed Harley . So scary some drunk hit him. Bfore he even healed he was back out popping wheelies and doing his thing. I know he has basic tools but I think he get a lot of use out of special tools like the press. Hahaha I'm done 4sure now. I'm off to watch u video . Prob 4 more times lol bye

  • @neglectedprincessdaisy2814

Some tips if you want to make better videos.
    1. Cut the bullshit. It's a how-to video. I don't wanna have to skip half the video to get to the point.
    2. Get a camera man or a tripod with a swivel head so you can show people what you're doing.
    3. Make a list of necessary tools or other tools that'll get the job done and check them off before you start the project. (Ex. Hammer vs. ball press).
    4. Speak louder or get a microphone that clips to your shirt or something cuz I can barely hear you.
    5. Divide and check off the steps to make it clear.
