      Chrome is going out of fashion. It can be very gaudy.

    • @DodgerFloof
      @DodgerFloof Před 2 měsíci +17

      @@jeffs6090 I'd argue it's not if you actually do it right. Chrome details add a sense of classiness to cars, but if you overdo it, it can look very cheap. There's a fine balance but I think car companies, mostly luxury brands, are too afraid to try and do it right so they just make it blacked out which just looks boring.

      Chrome and Mercedes fit together the best. I'd never remove the chrome from my Mercedes. I rather add even more chrome on specific parts. Like they do between the rear tail lights. My clk w209 doesn't have that unfortunately

      I have a black S63 and love the factory bright chrome. It was designed by a designer at the top of his field (Mercedes) who felt the chrome expressed the aesthetic of THIS PARTICULAR CAR best. And since mine is a cabrio, the wrap-around chrome supports the nautical design theme of the interior - it looks like a boat and like it should be parked by boats. Over 600 hp and it never races anybody - it just cruises and sometimes gets zippy for fun.

    Tail pipes are fake. And that giant gaudy logo though? Anyway the hybrid part of the scenario is a joke, but the power is functional. Last but not least, is the shelf on the trunk that will hold water snow and dirt. The integrated headrest sets are just dumb. Those are race car seats and I wish manufactures would stop putting them in passenger cars and SUVs. Another trend I wish would die. Second only to piano black.
    On the bright side, Mercedes does a few things right. First, in that their infotainment display is completely integrated into the dash, and does look like an aftermarket iPad add-on like in Teslas and all its imitators. Second, the very clean and functional look of the center console. Everything can be covered and looks nice and neat when not in use. The materials are also high-quality. Who doesn't like carbon fiber? Well done Mercedes.
    Finally, I agree with the wheels. You can see the attention to detail they put into them. Its hard to find a set that I don't like. Although I do prefer the 5-spoke for the performance versions.
