2025 Mercedes AMG E53 Sedan Revealed With 603 Horsepower

Mercedes-Benz is pushing the boundaries of performance and sustainability with the introduction of the new AMG E-Class "53" series, marking a significant step forward in the electrification of luxury vehicles. Available in both sedan and wagon body styles, this new addition showcases the brand's commitment to combining high performance with eco-friendly technology.
Unlike its predecessor, the new AMG E53 doesn't compromise on power despite its electrified enhancements. It retains the robust inline-six configuration, with a 3.0-liter turbocharged engine that now delivers an impressive 443 horsepower, up from the previous model's 429 hp. This combustion engine is complemented by an electric motor, which contributes an additional 161 hp, culminating in a total system output of 577 hp. This power can temporarily spike to 603 hp with the activation of Race Start, Mercedes' version of launch control, providing a remarkable torque of 553 lb-ft, a significant increase over the earlier model's 384 lb-ft.
The AMG E53 accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds for the sedan and 3.9 seconds for the wagon, with both versions electronically limited to 155 mph. An optional AMG Driver's Package can increase these limits to 174 mph for the sedan and 171 mph for the wagon. Moreover, on electric power alone, the E53 models can reach speeds up to 87 mph.
The vehicle incorporates a plug-in hybrid system, featuring a 21.22 kWh battery pack that promises over 62 miles of electric range according to the WLTP cycle. This setup integrates seamlessly with a nine-speed automatic transmission, optimizing space without sacrificing performance.
The AMG E53 sets itself apart with a stiffer body, larger brakes, and standard rear-wheel steering. The adaptive suspension with variable damping, coupled with a fully variable AWD system, ensures an exhilarating yet controlled driving experience. Its design features, such as wider front fenders, an illuminated grille, and quad exhaust tips, underscore its sporty elegance.
