  • The DEADLY Traffic Jam On Mount Everest In 2019
It was back in 1922 when the first trip to Mount Everest was made with the goal of getting to the top. The trip failed, and it wasn't until more than 30 years later that it was proven that someone had reached the top. On May 29, 1953, Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay did this amazing thing. Since then, more mountain climbers have reached the top, like the famous Jim Whittaker, the first American to reach the top of Everest in 1963. About a century after first trying to ascend the mountain, today, mountaineers face a completely different crisis: overcrowdedness. The mighty Everest saw an unbelievable traffic jam in 2019. The consequences were dreadful. Before diving into what happened, let’s look at some events preceding the 2019 disaster.

Like waiting for a disneyland ride but in the death zone...I'm totally happy with my list of 4000 meter peaks.

4:46 Sagarmartha (or Mount Everest as the British call it) is not 500 miles from Nepal. The summit is exactly at the border between Nepal and Tibet.

True. Too many dangerously overconfident people like Yasuko Namba, who perished with 3 others. The incident is mentioned in the controversial book "Into thin air." I heard a story about another woman who tried to climb even though she had a PACEMAKER. I don't think she should have been climbing anything over 1,500 meters in that condition. It's tragic how people are so quickly overcome by "summit fever."

This craziness will end in a MASSIVE tragedy ! Only a matter of time. These governments and climbing companies should be held accountable for taking advantage and profiting off of mentally ill people !

Oh, it's already happening. 2023 is already going to be the deadliest in over 22 years. The death toll is 17, from Jan 1 to now, that's one death every three weeks. This is insanity. Part of the problem is the govt handing out tourist visas like candy. They really need to put a limit on this. Oh, and they should also require all visitors to have prior experience with ONE 4,000 and one 6,000 meter mountain on their resumes if they want to climb.

You need to learn how to pronounce names, you mispronounce most of the mountains you cover.

No clue why the news still reports the deaths of the rich ppl who choose to climb Everest as a ‘tragedy’. The only tragedy about it is that they don’t give proper credit or pay to the Sherpas that make it all possible.

Isn't it funny how you wish you were rich but also think the rich deserve to die? It means you wish you were someone who deserved to die 😂

    What's the def zone?

It's called the death zone. There's only a third of the oxygen at the summit of Everest than at sea level.
The longer one stays in the death zone [even with bottled oxygen] the risk of dying goes up.

That’s the specific altitude where you quit drinking water and switch to def ( diesel exhaust fluid) so you don’t freeze
