    This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection czcams.com/users/postUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.

    Live edge looks great. I just built my mantle from an oak barn beam I reclaimed from an 1800 horse barn I used to own.

    Wow Shown 😱 this is why i became a woodworker ! All of the colors and the grain , just amasing and breathless . Unfortunate that you had to bang the mantel to get it in to it’s place ! Hopefully it was’nt damaged 😬 All in all exellent job , love it and breath taking 👍🏼❤️🇨🇦😜😎

    I liked the mantle and I'm going to do something similar. My question for you is: how did you white-wash your brick? It looks great! We really want to do that to our yellow/brown brick, and I like how your project turned out. Thanks so much for the video and the help!

  • @GunflintDesigns
    @GunflintDesigns Před 6 lety +1

    Looks great Shawn! That's a pretty striking difference from what was there before. For your whitewashing, was it just watered down white paint, or was there more to it than that?

      Agreed, very solid idea! I was just trying to use some of their concrete anchor sleeves but those threads would have been even nicer. Great article on your website too - very thorough!

  • @Noahlochner0
    @Noahlochner0 Před 3 lety

    I got a question about doing this. So my fireplace is brick just like yours but the previous home owner tiled over the brick. I Imagine I'll have to drill through the tile and sink the sleeves deeper into the brick. How important is it to get the sleeves centered into the brick? In my case there isn't any reference for me to know where in the brick I'd be drilling. I'm going in blind essentially. Any input?

    Whitewashing brick fireplaces seems to be a thing this week. Did you happen to see Gunflint Design's video this yesterday (or maybe it was earlier today)? That video goes into more detail about the whitewashing process since it wasn't about the mantel.. Enjoyed your video as always!
