  • How to hang a floating reclaimed beam mantel. Extreme DIY fireplace makeover/makeover with a solid oak reclaimed beam mantel and painting the stone white.
I finished this just in time for Christmas! Turning Rustic into Modern! I painted my 20 foot tall rustic stone fireplace white and added a floating 300 pound solid oak reclaimed beam mantel. I'll show you the proper techniques for painting a stone or brick fireplace white, and how to properly install and hang a reclaimed beam mantel.

I am a beginner to woodwork, the main test I have with this bundle czcams.com/users/postUgkxTNB_zFBSnTo_O1PqfVUwgi7ityw0JlKt is that I think that its hard to settle on a choice of the plan and outline to use as there are a large portion of them there. Nonetheless, I like the simple stride to step directions laid out there.

Removed a section in my camper where the entertainment area is and installed. Works great. Instead of propane furnace heat, I can use this czcams.com/users/postUgkxATHBlMJwipGgVWseuAFKvDQ_5R4_lywo to heat the camper as long as it's hooked up to shore power. Only thing I do not like is there does not seem to be a thermostat. I'm presuming it has a built-in one so it does not overheat. Really like all the other color options it has to offer.

I would never pain it, but each to their own. But when painting I would recommend starting at the top n working down so you don't get drips on work you have already completed.

Here in Finland it has been a trend last 15 years or so, to paint everything white. I understand, some people like it, and it's fine for me. I was working as an electrician for 14 years and I mostly was doing houses for people. I didn't like the white and everything looked like a hospital or Ikea catalog, so now when I have my own homestead, I can do what I like. So I don't have any walls with white paint, just window and door frames and it decorates nicely. I have some cabinet doors white, but they are MDF anyway. I have coloured walls and I do some of the furniture my self, to get some natural wines with wood and rocks would be super cool, like that fireplace.
But people like white, they even paint log houses white, so I think in the future new trend is to remove white paint and let it look natural again :D But this fireplace looks awesome white too. So everybody should do what they like. Good job. I love the mantel.

  • @tomrockholm-timeless_morph6691

Turned out better than I thought it would in white. A light white wash would’ve looked good too I think with some of the natural stone colors peaking through. Really like that reclaimed mantle, love the look of those rich wood colors.

Mantle looks really great, those rough sawn marks are priceless and show it is a real piece of history >100 to 120 years old. Should have never painted that stone though - almost couldn't even watch (like a slow moving train wreck....).

Soooo...I think the issue is with personal tastes... does the white look bad... no... but that's your taste. you have a modern taste so it really works. Is it my taste no but it doesn't look bad. I like the more rustic look so I love the stone and beam... but figure out how to install that is important I need to do it so it was helpful and I found a place with reclaimed beams. But I doooo have to mention... that dooooooor though, bro. That door is stunning.
