  • The Marvels is the MCU sequel to Captain Marvel. Disney needs this latest Brie Larson movie to succeed and is throwing everything at The Marvels movie to do so. Featuring multiple heroes from other Disney+ tv series including Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau. They have to team up to fight Kree Leader Dar-Benn, apparently a Thanos level threat. But will Disney Marvel succeed with Brie Larson's The Marvels? Is the Marvels worth watching?

The Marvels will Save Disney as Brie Larson gets revenge on all those unnecessary critics. This movie isn't made for, well, most people it seems like and that's why it's going to save Disney. It will save them an absolute fortune in the cost of printing tickets as no-one will want them. Trying to change a brands entire audience base is probably the most stupid thing a company could ever try to do, but no-one ever accused Hollywood of common sense. So as Brie Larson continues her position as Captain Marvel in The Marvels, doubling down on the same ideas that have destroys many Disney Marvel MCU movies in the past. For some reason, everyones surprised when this movie isn't the unicorn that turns this all around :O But what do you think of The Marvels? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

You don't need to be physically intimidating to be a villain. You just need to know how to actually act intimidating. For example, I doubt anyone alive would be physically intimidated by Steve Buscemi, right? But his portrayal of Nucky Thompson in Boardwalk Empire made you believe he was a very intimidating individual, and he delivered a phenomenal portrayal of a villain. The problem with these modern actors is the only role they know how to play is themselves.

They're not interesting themselves and they can't possibly act out an interesting character because they can't act. All they want is to be a celebrity onscreen to inflate their egos and bank accounts and they don't care about the audience or the movie or the legacies they're destroying and actively hate everything and everyone, and are miserable for it

Anyone know why these 3 are bound together and swap places and shit?
Plank's powers came from goo sucked from the Space Stone splooging all over her face.
The one that knows what you sacrificed for them got her powers from walking through a wall made of chaos magic.
There isn't a third one I think, but I still feel compelled to say something about a totally unaffiliated magic bracelet. Not sure why.
Their powers are not related in ANY way, even their NAMES aren't actually related. Plank never calls herself Captain Marvel, in fact her entire movie makes it explicitly clear she prefers Carol, and when Fury comments Marvel sounds cooler than Mar Vel, she rebukes him.
Camel Girl just pulled her name out her ass, it's not like it was bestowed unto her by the Living Tribunal.
And Fro Lady doesn't even fucking have a name yet. Regardless, it's Photon, has nothing to do with the word Marvel.
They're completely fucking unrelated within the MCU, so I can only assume they WON'T justify this place swapping at all and will just say it's because they're bound together, because that's what the script says, so it's gotta be true. Or the magic bangle just did it because reasons. There's an equal if not greater chance I've put more thought into all of this than anyone working at Disney.

The Rings in the MCU aren't even ACTUAL RINGS, they're fucking magic bracelets too!
And if she and the baddie both have these rings which could logically share a connection, how come THEY don't swap back and forth?!
That would actually be an interesting plotline they could ruin. The baddie and the hero literally trading places at unpredictable times, neither one knowing who the other even is yet so the hero needs to figure out how the fuck to handle suddenly being in this villain's lair at random basically. And the villain needs to decide how to navigate this strange world and discover how to either break this strange connection, or track it down to steal whatever is powering it and grow stronger.
Disney could REALLY fuck that up, but no, instead we get "Duuuuuuuuur light?"

"Let's remove all the people with attractive looks and personalities and try to sell the movie to anyone!" Brilliant strategy, indeed.
The thing about women saving men makes me think about how in the story I'm writing there's a moment where a girl jumps in front of a dagger to save a guy, but I at least try to justificate it by having her be raised from birth in the military to be a bodyguard, and him a prince with several debilitating illnesses who's employing her as his bodyguard.

    • @missAlice1990
      @missAlice1990 Před 9 měsíci

You don't have to justify a girl saving a guy to that point, my God! The girl is the bodyguard and it isn't enough that the guy is her VIP, a prince, but he has to suffer from several(!) illnesses. There's nothing wrong with a girl saving a guy if (a) she is established as a person brave enough to do such a thing, she doesn't even have to be trained and (b) the guy is unable to defend himself, not necessarily for lack of skills but it might be due to the circumstances (he can't see the danger, he doesn't have a weapon, he is busy fighting with another enemy). Or he is more important than the woman in question, like him being the prince. Usually it's women who are saved because they are seen as more important than men (due to them giving birth). But a woman saving a man is fine. There's only a problem when women are constantly saving men but men can never save women.

    • @SoRePeSi
      @SoRePeSi Před 9 měsíci +2

@@missAlice1990 Alright, my exaggerated wording there. None of those factors exist to justify the scene, they all relate deeply to the rest of plot and it just happened that the scene fit neatly considering all of them. I totally agree with you, you can definitely have such an event happen in any number of ways as long as it makes sense. If I put my character's sister in the scene instead, for example, it wouldn't work because she just wouldn't do that, but his cousin would, despite the fact all she would contribute would be serving as a human shield.
It all comes down to how you establish them, not even just for women. Think Momohime in Muramasa the Demon Blade, her whole side of the story happens because she jumps in front of a blade to save the guy she was going to marry, and she's virtually useless in any physical struggle.
Little edit, and referring more to the point from the video. Off the top of my head, I'd say the difference in the most typical portrayals of the "out of impulse" sacrifice between men and women, without considering established personalities, is that when a man does it, he's a great person. When a woman does it, she really loves the person she's protecting.

I really don’t get the idea. I know, some older comic books did also feature a multitude of Kangs, but the good Avengers books of the past always had a main Kang being the major threat in those (often manipulating or even murdering his own variants). But with the MCU there seems to be no real Kang threat around, just a couple of villains finding their death everywhere. And if they try to throw in a last minute „this is the real Kang“ for Kang Dynasty, it will not work, because they built up the opposite.
Not to mention that the original Kang Dynasty comic book story had not a single Kang variant or copy or any such thing (there was only one character with „variants“ in that book and those were clones instead of multiverse variants). …. but then again, there is absolutely zero chance that the MCU even gets close enough to that comic book.

And yet, they forgot one important thing -- I hate being pandered to. It's infantilizing, I feel like they're talking down to me. And rather than find them empowering, I see these types of movies as just furthering the false idea that there is only one true form of womanhood: the girlboss. All other shades and choices are wrong and bad and you've internalized something if you feel that way. So go off and girlboss gatekeep gaslight harder further faster. I occasionally have a look around some of the popular female-centric youtube review channels, and so many have issues with how these Disney girls are all the same now, and they ask why can't we have gentle female characters anymore. The enormous backlash last year among women to Netflix girlbossifying Jane Austen's Persuasion says a lot. So I'm not so sure that the female audience really is the target, but that Feige just wants to be seen as supporting feminism.

You just have to explain them; if it's different, fine, but what's the internal logic holding the choices and consequences together? And once you've decided on that internal logic, you stick with it, or else explain why it's changed. Ideally, if you're good at your craft, you'll find ways to SHOW the explanation rather than needing to resort to constant exposition.

i would have bought the idea that she attacked the attacker, but the notion she's going to jump in front of a spear is beyond plausibility except in feminist writer's mind. it's why the man is cowering in fear for his life, because men in these movies have to be depicted as weak and needing rescued by the wahmens who are depicted as strong because they've taken on the traits of men.
don't get me wrong, chicks are violent af in a ton of situations, irl typically involving those of a certain socio-economic bent. or if you're a karen being arrested for DUI, if body cam videos are anything to go by.
to suggest it's a woman's nature to take a bullet for a man is laughable. in this instance, if the 'writers' wanted to build that character up to do that in a plausible way, fine and good luck with that, but here it's simply pushing an agenda/narrative that doesn't ring true because we know it's vastly unlikely to be true.
you want to argue that a woman can be heroic, and of course that can be true, but it's so unlikely in this kind of a situation that it's not worth arguing. the whole 'ride or die' thing is greatly a myth. getting into a fight over a dude happens on the daily, just not sacrificing their lives for them intentionally.
why these kinds of characters are so unlikeable and don't feel real is because we know otherwise and realize they're just female empowerment roles, it's why they're all mary sues.

To be fair, the large amount of men being left behind on the Titanic was largely due to lt. Lightoller, who made it his mission that no men should reach the lifeboats and even threatened them at gunpoint out of one before launching it almost empty.
Yes, he was of course totally going down with the ship, but then just happened to be pushed by a miracle of air to the surface and onto the last lifeboat. Fancy that.
(He also gunned down the crew of a surrendering U-boat in WW1 because he "refused to accept the hands up air business".)

Bringing Thanos back is stupid because _Multiverse of Madness_ established that things not from their own universes are incursion threats, so even a revived Thanos would ultimately be living on borrowed time anyway. (Presumably reviving the 2018 Thanos would require finding what planet he was on, as if anyone remembered that detail.)
Come to think of it, since 2014 Thanos got into Endgame due to Pym Particles, an Ant-Man thing, it's kinda' funny to think how close the fan theories about Ant-Man killing Thanos with Pym Particles were to being right. Except it was the wokies that got up the all-powerful MCU's ass and blew it up from the inside.

Batwoman said it right after taking all of Burce Wayne's stuff, the girl in Gotham Knights said it about something I forgot but after letting some man go to prison for her because she did got caught hacking and then pinned it on him...What is that one used in this video?
