Anyone saying this is the worst MCU movie has not watch a lot of MCU movies. I present Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and whatever the hell the disaster that the last Antman movie was as examples of alternative worst MCU movies.
Iron man 3 wasnt that bad, mandarin was a little disappointing but it was a cool way to bookend tony stark, proving his brain makes the superhero, not the armor.
Thor 2 shouldnt have been a romcom with so many scenes on earth and was generally generic, but it wasnt really all that bad so much as kinda boring and missed opportunities.
Quantumania was just bad. The script was like a 13 year olds work. It was so unfortunate.

Couple things 1. Monica isn’t too old to be bitter about Carol leaving, she may only be her aunt but she did raise her literally from birth, imagine how pissed you’d be if one of your parents of their own choice left you without explanation, that’d be upsetting at any age. 2. It’s not that Carol can’t beat Darr-Ben it’s just that when they fight, her powers get temporarily drained not to mention the random switching with Monica and Kamala. Otherwise thanks for the review!

@@nailinthefashion not saying they had to be original, I mean they're using a familiar pathway, making a b line to the happy centers of my brain; that bit of excitement that the first GOTG movie brought; retreading old story beats is them basically copying their own homework but something in the way how they're doing it this time is . . . just all wrong and it's cuz unlike GOTG that was nestled in all the hype and buildup of a larger ongoing story, The Marvels have NOTHING to stand on!!! I mean, lol, Loki taking the Tesseract in Endgame was basically setting things up for a repeat of the previous 10/20 movie's plot with another 10/20 movies+tv shows, Cassie Lang, Kate Bishop, Riri Williams, Shuri etc were supposed to be the insert replacements of the popular titular characters drumming up hype, getting people invested, but they've been delegated instead to being the insert AGENDA and the last thing people want to do is to be preached to; Kang was the new baddie, he was built up and then subsequently written out; this is all so messed up now . . . now we can't possibly have old characters make a cameo . . . right now . . . we should be swimming, scratch that, DROWNING in hype and yet everything right now is going out like a hot wet fart; that post credit scene alluding to the Bryan Singer X-Men universe verse tie-in makes absolutely no sense when people already got their rocks off on DOFP, X-Men first class, etc; no hype . . . no point; I still say it to this day they should have paid the actors for their likenesses for that video game tie-in; another EZ billion

I actually really enjoyed The Marvels, borderline loved it. It was the most fun I've had with a Marvel project in a while. It was like Thor Ragnorak but in the best ways.

@hvyarms4496 yes but it was a lead up to ragnorak which is simply a world ending event it doesn't super long it simply marks the rebirth of the cycle. Even withing marvel it's not an even you would span across 2 hours of movie. Also something you want to try and prevent before you just try to fix it

But Marvel also completely undid Wanda's evolution in Wandavision and made her a psycho killer so ... Blah blah the Darkhold corrupted her blah blah.

It's wild how invested I was in MCU pre-Endgame, and now post-Endgame none of their content is able to do anything for me. I have no emotional investment anymore.
I had none either until the second season of Loki. It was arguably the best ending to any MCU project.
For me, the worst parts of the movie was the pacing. Nothing that could have made an impact, was given time to breathe. The main villains power was her luck. Otherwise she was fodder for all 3 Ladies. By themselves.
This would have been better off as a Loki style show. Let Monica and Carol's strained relationship play out. Let Kamala learn the lesson of "Never meet your heroes" firsthand. Resolve those issues in a fleshed out way and boom.. Cpt. Marvel is rehabilitated and you have 3 characters people will want to see more of. That's overly simplified, of course.
I really wanted to like this movie. I mean, I did.. but it was just.. Okay.. Wait to stream it, is my "rating".
They should team up Kamala Khan with Spiderman, the kid is obviously trying her little heart out and would make a great plucky sidekick to Tom Holland.
5:15 I think this was less about not being willing to endanger herself and more about not endangering the people already on the ship - the buildings and mountains are collapsing and rubble could easily crush the ship and leave them ALL dead
I honestly didn’t think the movie was that bad. I honestly enjoyed the story and had fun. Kamala was the MVP and man, it was just a good movie. It’s not perfect and it’s not terrible, it’s just good. And the fighting was very well choreographed. Also, I really liked seeing Carol having more of a personality this time around.

Yeah I had fun with it. Didn't particularly love the Monica-sacrifices-herself-to-heal-the-universe bit since it felt soooo overplayed by now, but I could watch Kamala all day long and still have fun. Great balance to Carol.
I agree. I had a lot of fun watching it, more than I’ve had watching a movie in a while, even though no one went with me. Iman Vellani as Kamala was definitely the highlight for me too.
Sadly, a lot of the hate this film is receiving is not because it is good or bad but is residual from Disney's past actions. It might honestly be quite some time before Disney sees the success they previously had.

I knew someone who has a degree in material science and engineering and he had been talking about the ladder to space for a long time and the visual makes it even more surreal
The CZcams reviews really discouraged me and ruined the hype I had for months for this movie. Decided to watch it anyway and I do not regret listening to my gut. I enjoyed the movie, I was cracking up half the time. This movie actually made me get re-excited about the MCU. I can’t wait to see what comes next!

Edit: I also liked Carol a lot better in this one compared to the first one. Although I think Kamela was by far the best character and had the best actress of the 3

Just seen this with fam yesterday. We love it. And same, I like Carol here much better than in her previous movies. Monica and Kamala seem to balance her out too. Won't say it's the best entry out there, but it's not as bad as people make it to be.

I watched this today and it was better than I expected considering the reviews
It flew higher, further, and faster than any of my expectations and even had cameos I didn't expect in the slightest bit.
I was hyped for Secret Wars, now I'm at critical overload

This film really occurred to me why it was that Barbie did as well as it did. Not just for the meme, but I think it was refreshing to get something that embraced it's feminity front and center and knew what it was compared to another Marvel Product trying desperately to mix many things in the hopes it'll formulate something. Works on some people, but looks like it's not appealing right now for one reason or another. I bet if it played again right now, it still would have sold better than "The Marvels".
Yeah I think it goes back to reference for writing....Barbie has tons of dolls each with a story.... Captain Marvel is just not the character u want for a woman superhero.....even in comics she never got enough pages...... Ms Marvel truly actually works because she represents the audience i.e people who are awed to see superheros..... Their isn't any connect with Captain Marvel

I played with Barbies too so yes pre-conditioned to accept fantasies of a Barbie dream house with shoes that don’t stay on and one boy doll to marry them all. It’s funny that people hate on Marvel as a product but love Barbie who is an actual product. We have a generational issue in which no one knows when to tap out and let the next create their own version of feminine aka evolve.

This movie was so much fun. I wish people would stop expecting MCU movies to all be like Endgame or No Way Home. Not every MCU movie has to be on that level and it’s okay. Sometimes people just want to enjoy a fun movie and not have to think so hard about.

I enjoyed this movie, it wasn't so terrible like people kept saying. Kamala was my favorite part, I might watched Ms. Marvel on Disney plus now after watching her on this movie.
It's a shame you didn't watch the show first cuz it really explains why she appreciates Carol so much if you aren't at all familiar with her origin

@@JohannyM imo Kamala is the best female MCU character so far despite my soft spot for Wanda. That series left me feeling hopeful, bright, excited and really interested in seeing her grow into a woman. So many of the heroes are "baked" but she has a ton of potential. Hide you enjoy as well!

The only reason I'd ever watch this movie is for Park Seo Joon, but i have a feeling he's only in it for like ten minutes.
As much as I love him, he was the worst part of this movie. I enjoyed the movie, up until his scene. Nothing to do with his acting. His acting is amazing as always. It was just the entire scene was over the top.

Honestly, I really enjoyed The Marvels. Kamala was a joy to watch. And the choreography was fantastic.
I think my main issue with the film is that it's a bit too short. Nia said that was intentional, but it feels a little too breezy. The film could use longer emotional beats.
I don't think people would have been happy either way tbh. Eternals is the most beautiful MCU film and barely anyone appreciated it. I think if this was longer, people would just flip the criticism to "this could have been 20 minutes shorter, why did they bother showing Monica and Carol chat so much" and so on
This is my second fave MCU film after Strange 2, so I'm glad Nia did her thing regardless of what the mindless herd thinks

Honestly I think this is *one of* the best MCU movies since endgame. The writing is a lot better and it genuinely feels like the writers are getting a hold on how to work within this oversaturation problem they have, though I still think itd be better if they just fixed it.
Also Kamala stole every scene and I hope her role doesn't flop because her career doesn't deserve that.

Imo Gal Gadot's acting is worse, but I'm certain she's able to draw more crowd compared to Iman Vellani.

I too actually watched this just a couple of hours ago🤣 The dude that's with Darr-Benn does make it clear from the beginning that if she ever puts on both quantum bands she'll likely die as a result😂 but this movie was like watching a trainwreck happening irl. Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and her family saved this picture from being worse than Quantumania tbh😅
I enjoyed the movie both times that I've seen it so far. I've said before in another video comment, it's a pattern that reviewers whom usually notice the most obscure minutia suddenly can't remember things already explained explicitly in the dialogue of the movie like Carol's power being siphoned by Darr-Ben's quantum band when Carol uses it against her, the switching works only when two or more of them use powers at the same time, Darr-Ben specifically targeting the planets that are important to Carol to steal resources from, etc. I watch reviews because I want to see good faith analysis and constructive criticisms when it's called for, but so many reviewers are just bending over backwards to phrase things to fit their preconceived bias against the film without actually even paying attention even after multiple viewings.
This team has excellent chemistry and their interpersonal dynamics are so interesting. Carol takes decisive action. Monica is very analytical, and Kamela is a combo of the two being both enthusiastic and curious. Carol and Monica finally reunite and they both go from an aunt who is so afraid to disappoint the kid she helped raised and the niece who carried pain from a parental figure who disappeared on her, to both becoming equals who can depend on each other. Monica referring to her aunt Carol as just Carol after they talk things through is such an interesting subtle shift in the dialogue. Carol carrying out Monica's idea to jump start Vala's sun before keeping Monica's home safe until she one day hopefully returns is such a lovely parallel to Monica waiting for Carol and Maria waiting for Monica. Carol and Kamela echo the relationship that Carol had with Monica with Carol as a role model that Kamela looks up to, Kamela finally meets her hero and learns that Carol as awesome as she is, is also a three dimensional person that she may not agree with all the time.
Marvel movies often try to be funny, but the comedic beats in The Marvels are actually very funny and moments that showcase their personality and relationship to the people around them. The action scenes are very cool, the switching is very well done, both during the chaotic confusion and after they've trained to become a cohesive unit. The music score is just right. The film would have benefited from having a longer run time to flesh out emotional beats a bit more, but otherwise definitely one of the top MCU films for me.

I agree with you. Can’t believe I read all that. What I do wish is that the villain had more screen time and for the heroes to struggle a bit. Also when Kamala got both bands, I was kinda expecting something cool to happen.

The comedy was ehh the funniest parts to me were fury but at the end of the day I don’t want comedy from fury considering he just went through some traumatic stuff in secret invasion.

This movie was fun. I really enjoyed it. Not sure why the critics are coming for it so hard. I liked it way more than Antman 3 and Thor 4.
The fight scenes were awesome and the character's chemistry was great.

These are comic book movies! And sure, some of them have been great like Inifinty War and Winter Soldier but they're allowed to just be fun ✨

Honestly I had fun. I laughed when a guy behind me mentioned a particular scene was like Space Balls. I'm a sucker for references so things like the "we have our heading" instantly make me happy. It's not a perfect movie but I really enjoyed watching it. I like the ham; the silly song planet with the silly jellyfish hat, and the silly lil kittens eating people as rescue pods, all just a fun little ride. And oh my god that scene of carol just gently floating out the ship with the dazzle of space behind her, that was one of the moments where it was like "yes, this is why i come to the theater." that and seeing the planet the Skrulls were on. Beautiful shots are truly breathtaking on the big screen
I absolutely loved this movie!! Its a fun filler and entertaing throughout. Iman Vellani absolutely stole every scene she was in and everyone in this movie is so charismatic and absolutely gorgeous😂😂

@@khaoss4024 Wakanda forever had a few great scenes with a ton of terrible ones. The Marvels had a lot of good scenes with a few terrible ones. Wakanda forever emotionally got me a bunch of times which The Marvels definitely did not do, but I was having a good time with The Marvels which Wakanda Forever did not do.

Besides the fact that Wakanda Forever is more critically received than The Marvels, it was also much more tonally consistent, had a better villain, and actually tackled a full storyline instead of doing pieces. The Marvels isn’t well received because everything serious is sped through so they can spend time being goofy, which is why people felt nothing when Captain Marvel had her 30 second pep talk but people cried when Shuri shed tears for T Challa. Better soundtrack, better cinematography, better character arcs, better combat- what are you actually talking about 💀

Yes The Marvels has so many problems, but I have just as many problems with Wakanda Forever. Namor was an amazing villain, but Shuri and Riri were so much worse than The Marvels trio. The Marvels was far from being an amazing film, but not much better and not much worse than Wakanda Forever. This is my opinion. I’m not going to tell you your opinion is wrong because that’s not how opinions work.
Was not excited for this movie at all, but really want to see some redemption for the MCU. It’s a 7/10 for me. Firstly, I’d have given an extra 30 moody & dark intro of an extremely angry Captain Marvel flying through galaxies, heading with great speed and we’re wondering where she’s going, then we see Hala and the Supreme intelligence as she dispatches some formidable Kree squads of somewhat anonymous Kree in Shadows. It ends with Hala in ruins and then Dar-Ben narrates what came next with artistic exposition. I’d have designed Dar-Ben to have a much more intricate & well designed armor as would her team moving through the story as mysterious figures unrevealed yet. The reveal could come later Aldana as Dar-Ben reveals herself and that she was one of the shadowy Kree guards buried by Carol’s wanton destruction but freed herself and began her mission of vengeance. All in all, it seemed too short, too artificial at times and emotional scenes didn’t land for me. It was still fun and Kamala absolutely stole the show.
Then she sings and then she becomes a princess and then there are lots of kittens and then they switch places and then…. I am convinced that writer guy’s 4 year old daughter did indeed write this script
I loved it when Carol stood there all seriously beautiful at the same time menacing, then said "It's Marvelin time" then closed her hand into a first. Goosebumps! So stunning and brave!
Watching this in the theater the other night, I definitely got the sense that they cut out 45 minutes in the final edit.
IF we get an A.vsX. movie, it's going to be just like BatmanvSuperman. Rushed 1st act of them getting on each other's nerves, 10 min tops of fighting, and coming together to fight a "bigger" threat that is not that threatening...

Strange how “this movie is so bad” seems to be the internet opinion yet the overwhelming majority of people I meet liked this movie and saw it as a “return to form”. The villain is boring and generic but that’s par for the course with marvel most of the time and it had good humour and some fun scenes.
I wasn’t blown away but I wasn’t bored or uninterested either

Honestly, I enjoyed the movie. It wasn't even close to a banger, but who expected it to be? It was just okay, like most movies. I think most of the community is hating their experience because of their own expectations in some cases, and this is one of them. The only recent release I genuinely got less than expected from was Quantumania

Especially when they actually WANT this movie to suck and bomb at the box office instead of hoping it at least improves some of the things the first movie did like I do. And the way Disney has marketed the last trailer has only fed those five year old trolls.
Tho, it sounds hypocritical for me to say considering I wanted The Flash movie to bomb because I didn't want WB to keep that POS even after they reboot the DCEU.
But that's the difference. Brie Larson hasn't done anything wrong. Her words were taken out of context and seems to have an awkward personality and I can understand how that can rub people the wrong way. I don't have the mental capacity to explain it further and would rather recommend watching the second part of CinemaWins' Captain Marvel video where he gives the movie fair criticism while also examining why people hate her so much.
Shes box office poison, don't talk about straight white men before a super hero movie comes out. She tainted her own image and she's a total miscast anyways. Not every hero has to be a well know actor, they force em in sometimes like with Adam Warlock

Just imagine the Barbie movie set in the Barbie Universe but with no Barbies, just a bunch of middle-aged flabby Kens uniting to fight another middle-aged flabby Ken villain using a disjointed idiotic story-line, and expecting the Barbie fandom to show up and relate to these Kens. Disney would never be stupid enough to make that movie, but it would make a comparatively similar The Marvels, where neither the Barbie nor the MCU fanbase showed up and was so obvious that neither would ever show up. Just brilliant Disney. I am sure Disney will be doubling down thinking the mass audience will eventually HAVE to come around.

My family thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
I really enjoyed the movie. It was way funnier than expected and very refreshing. The only thing that really really annoyed me was that all these women are fighting and their hair keep being thrown into their face. TIE UP ALL THEIR HAIR!! ORRRRRRR MAKE IT A POINT WHERE THEY KEEP SPITING HAIR OUT OF THEIR MOUTH AND EYES. But that was the most annoying thing for sure 😂😂😂.

I just don't have excitement for any superhero movies anymore. I am guessing I am jaded. I am in my late 30s, used to love the now cgi cringe spiderman, X-Men and Iron man. I just fell off after the Avengers.
If they didn't have dozens of movies and series, I think I would have heard more about this movie. I probably will like it. It is just lost in the sea of Marvel content.

The last Marvel film I watched was Multiverse of Madness. It was fine but I've had the MCU on snooze since then. Now you're making me want to see this one. For one thing, your vid is the first thing I've seen to mention Monica's mom. I was kind of peeved Lashawna Lynch wasn't in this one but at least she's referenced. The first Captain Marvel movie didn't do it for me. Just didn't connect with it much, like the needle drops didn't even hit right. I really want them to get Carol right in the films cause comic book Carol is MESSY!

yeah its a shame a few fans came up with better story beats than the studio. lean into the wide eyed teen meeting her hero and slowly losing that imagined angelic version in her head but come around to appreciate that carol has to make hard choices and thats why she is sullen and not bubbly or whatever. SHOW (dont tell) the destruction and how the AI controlled the unstable sun and why destroying it caused so much damage. once again a basic story element they cannot grasp. and they cannot write flawed women thats a no no. even if they did that im not watching a herd of cats or dance plant movie. just. no. but at least it might have had wider appeal.
