The Western Cape in South Africa has seen a phenomenal amount of rain in the past two weeks. This has caused multiple damns to open the flood gates and rivers overflowing.
Many towns are experiencing lots of damage which includes businesses, houses and farms. Lots of residents are sitting without electricity and even some towns that are completely cut off, because entrances/exits to these towns were swept away by the water.
I will try and cover more of the damages and flooding within the coming days. Be sure to like and subscribe if you don't want to miss out.
they must rebuild it better and stronger now
Agreed. They should make provision for if it happens again.
It's scary Iwas working on citrus dal ND, was lucky to get out there before it was flooding, otherwise I will be stucked on that sitrus farm,, called Allendale.... GOD BE WITH U ALL 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
That is scary hey, realizing you could have been stuck there now. The helicopters are only bringing in supplies, not taking out people.
I actually know where Allendale is. I think they also got damage from the water?
Thanks for another eye opener,
I believe that farmers can't get their citrus out for exporting.
Exactly. These floods are definitely hurting our economy quite a bit :-(
@@ChristoffSmit just on the other side of the road, weat was planted, now soon bread prices will rise.
Thanks
South Africa wheat price is determined by Safex and what the global export is doing . Every year about 1milion tons of wheat is being imported
@@janniekotze1784 thanks, I heard that wheat farmers also lost everything they planted, this is not good,
The only disaster is self-inflicted. What did those farmers expect if they build on the flood plain.
You're definitely not wrong there :-)
I take it you're a farmer or resident in the area that knows where the high water mark is that the authorities marked out? It would be interesting to know where it is.
