- Mop up operations are now under way after heavy rains left a trail of destruction in parts of the province. The Huguenot Tunnel is currently closed to all traffic from Worcester towards Cape Town. Heavy rains also resulted in rocks and mudslides blocking sections of the N1. We find out more from Imelda Julies, SANRAL project manager.
Guys pls try take care and be safe...Do not use roads work from home if possible. Find safe shelter if possible. Just preserve your life belongings can be gotten again. Never seen anything like this but it will pass so be patient and stay alive. God keep you safe and healthy, praying for all my fellows in Western Cape and Cape Town

Yesterday, ie Thursday 15 June '23, I managed to drive through the Hugenot Tunnel from CT to Worcester and that was after 12h00. I was lucky as I was on my way to George
I moved from Durban to Cape Town 23 years ago, this is the worst I seen in my 23 years here. At least in Durban it is still warm when it floods. Here it is cold and miserable in winter and with that comes the rain and flood.
