Upon arrival we notice an open gate which we ask a member of staff about.
This isn't recieved very well so they call for backup before the drone goes up.
We are then spoken to by the Big Boss who is also a Drone Flyer.

I cannot figure out some people's attitude to one person filming compared to hundreds of cameras everywhere doing just the same, including facial recognition applications, which is far more sinister than an auditor posting on CZcams.

Street photography is being continuously oppressed . All the old photos of industry / towns / cities around the world are our own nostalgia . And they need to be our grandchildren’s. So I support some of these guys ( not all as some are aggressive rude , child like and provocative )
I used to work with ladies like this. They would call and say that there was someone across the street aiming a camera at the building (sometimes legacy media types) and they would ask me to go and get the images/recording deleted. I would laugh and ask how do they expect me to get images taken in public deleted? This was right outside the head quarters of our defense force, too (which was across the street to our building). These people have an entitlement issue, and no understanding of law or what it means to be in public.
You dealt with this situation incredibly well. Zero aggression. Assertive yes, but no aggression. And as for harassment? Whoa Buddy!

I started shaking from anxiety at how aggressive that woman was at the end. She needs counseling.
For someone who didn't want to be in a video, she put in a brilliant performance (instead of walking away).
The boss man accuses DJ of aggression and has no evidence that took place. He is taking the side of his employees without one shred of evidence. Obviously the police told her he is not doing anything illegal so she gets aggressive and tries to bully and intimidate and the gang turned up, just go and get on with your work. If he claims to be a drone flyer obviously he didn't understand the regulations. Walk Of Shame for them.
I actually used to work security at a similar sort of establishment... what these companies often forget or choose to ignore is that you're legally allowed to film anything you can see from a public space.
Whenever I was asked to "deal" with someone filming from the public footpath or highway outside, I would introduce myself to the person filming, let them know that I wasn't going to stop them but I would politely ask them to confirm that it wasn't for nefarious reasons (pre break in recon or terrorism etc).
99% of the people I ever spoke to were happy with that, confirmed that it was just for a video blogging or CZcams and that was the end of it.
I never saw footage of me turn up on CZcams... why?
Because I didn't cause a scene.
DJ... keep doing what you do. You're amongst the very few that actually do this correctly, without causing situations to escalate and people potentially losing their temper and their jobs.
I don't think you were aggressive in any way and, ultimately, if they had left you alone then there wouldn't have been all that BS and they wouldn't have made themselves look foolish.

DJ one point about GDPR - as a you tube publisher, you create footage and have a revenue stream. I'm pretty sure you must be paying tax ;-) If so, it would be more tax efficient to be paying corporate tax - ergo, GDPR probably applies to you ;-)

As I work in Security, I learn so much from DJ Audits. I find Companies and Security Agencies do very little to inform staff what a member of public can or can't do. Well done to DJ Audits in exposing this.

Greetings from Kanada. I can't understand why industrial sites always seem to have aggressive, "YOU CAN'T FILM ME" folks working there. Surely, by now, it must be common knowledge that you can. Hell, in this case, you had a fellow drone pilot who claimed to know the law, THEN you showed him the law, and STILL his 'opinion' kicked in and took over. I have never seen a bunch of company staff make such a fool of themselves as in this video. It is hilarious how they speak slowly and clearly in an attempt to imply the are intelligent. What is even more amazing is that the security guard who has seen DJ at work didn't inform his colleagues that DJ was doing nothing wrong and had total rights to make his video and fly a drone. Well done DJ for remaining calm and respectful even after been harassed by moronic rude people. Syncreon Automotive (UK)......your'e a disgrace.

The woman claims she owns the right to her own image. Nope. Her image, once recorded on someone's camera becomes the copyright of the person with the camera. That's how it works. She only has a right to her image if she makes a contract with the photographer. No contract, no rights.
Yeah, the irony of it is, no one probably would want her image, let's face it what would you do with it? Seriously 🤔

GDPR does apply to the public, except where the data is 'for household purposes'. Saying it doesn't apply to a member of the public is a myth.

I love it when she says she doesn't want to know. She might as well stick her fingers in her ears and shout "la la, la la, I can't hear you." THAT is a perdect example of somebody being passive agressive. Making demands and barking orders, then refusing to lisren to reason, in an ATTEMPT to get a rise out of her combatant, is a perfect definition of passive agressiveness.
