No judgement. Getting the vaccine was a smart move, especially as a senior citizen.

You know? My wife had our US money 90 percent of the time I was there. Every week she got some changed. She just gave me a few thousand pesos every few days. I wasn’t getting the money changed. So it was impossible for me to realize if I just paid 5,000 pesos for this or that and in my head saying that’s about $250 US or about how many pesos I bought for $250

Sitting at a LAX hotel with my 2 dogs boarding a plane in 5 hours.Tomorrow will be day one for me. I was going to sell to Carmax but a guy called me the night before I was supposed to go there and I sold it to him for $500 more.

Just sold my boat 30 minutes ago, now time to concentrate on all the smaller things to sell. Have 2 vehicles to sell, then wheels up!

Hello there. I’m getting mixed advice on moving there. I will have a max budget of $2000 a month. What is your opinion.

  • @markeuringer8106

I married a Filipina woman 22 years ago in august and we will retire there. We have a property in a gated community that we need to build on or sell…. So $ notwithstanding ( we have to figure out a budget) we have the advantage of having lots of her relatives and I have been there 5 x so far. The relatives are not that rich but they all help each other and would help us with knowledge and hands on help We may even set up a business… we are both Canadian but all the relatives are able to help ….

Mike, while you may have told your 'starting out' story a couple times prior I think this rendition is by far the best and most comprehensive. You did a nice job of focusing in on the logistical, emotional, and physical aspects facing new comers. Along with the de-stressing you did in your first month you also allowed yourself a more controlled pace for acclimating to a new culture. How nice of the on-line Filipina friends you had made, that they would go out of their way to greet you and help you 'set foot' as Mary would say. The Filipino people are truly wonderful and so are you and Janet. Stay healthy. Salamat po. Peace and Love, B Goat

YOU ROCK MIKE! please don't pay attention to the people who are difficult.

  • @AllenLuedemann

Hey Mike and Janet. I pray that everything turns out well for both of you. I just went to my doctor, after going to the hospital 3 weeks ago for an emergency!! They found out that I had AFIB!! WTH!! I'm 67 years old on the 22nd of June, and having these somewhat complications My cardiologist is ordering a series of tests, and greatful for Medi - Cal and Medicare, as I don't pay anything!! Same for any meds and my dental work. I will see if I can travel with this new " BAD LUCK" sickness I've acquired recently. Hopefully, I can fly to the Philippines, even with AFIB symptoms. Much luck on your annual checkup, to both of you. Keep strong and believe in God to keep you healthy.

  • @user-no6tp6nr4k

This was an incredibly interesting presentation. Thank you for your reflections.

  • @faronray5765

Thanks for the reflection of your experience on your first 90 days. I retired to the Philippines in Sept of 2020 and made it through the Philippines draconian CCP-19 restrictions. Never got the stupid CCP-19 shot that was sort of forced on the people here. I waited it out and glad I did.
