- The Carpenters tell Robert Young, from the short lived show "Robert Young with the Young", about the story behind the song "Sometimes". Very Sweet and touching song and a little info about a great song, told and sung by Miss Karen Carpenter and with help from Richard too ;)

This is for my Mum, recently laid to rest with Dad, aged 91. As my brother said, 'Together again'.
I remember when I first heard the beginning of this song, I thought it was just an instrumental and skipped it. One day I decided to listen to it and to my surprise Karen was singing and it took me completely by surprise. I remember being memorized by those haunting lows and smooth velvet tones. It was truly a wonderful surprise, it’s certainly one of my favorite songs in the whole collection. I played it 30 times that day. Im glad I have all the original vinyl albums, this song is on the album Carpenters. I recommend that you listen to it on a record player, it’s so mush more natural, haunting and beautiful.. I believe it one of their best albums..
Love the piano at the beginning of this song. Then Karen comes in and just knocks it out of the park. So special, so simple, just beautiful. thanks for posting this
karen carpenter is a angel
This should be included on all their "Greatest Hits" because it is, truly, one of a kind.
there will never be another like here...none......bcoz theres only 1 Karen Carpenter...and that voice will never be duplicated ever....
A solitary piano, a humble voice, and simple words are enough to crush your bones and break your heart. I am simply stunned at how devastatingly beautiful this is. And to think that Miley Cyrus is older now than Karen Carpenter was here ... makes me want to jettison out of this world for what it has sadly become. Whatever happened to decency and modesty and purity? Too much liberalism is not all that great... How I wish that young people still comport themselves the way these two did. Is America gone forever?
This song is so perfect for Karen and Richard too, who gets to shine on grand piano. His brilliant arrangements were so often often overshadowed by the superstardom of his phenomenal sister.
The best female singer of all time? This does an injustice to the dozens of favorites I have. I would not set one above the other pr bore you by naming them all. Much better to simply describe her as 'one of the best'. She sure was special.
What a talented pair and she had such a beautiful voice. As silly as it may be to admit this, this song always makes me cry when I hear it.
Again, this showws the true magic that was Karen Carpenter!
This world was truly blessed to have Karen Carpenter in it
Karen's voice is truly a one in a million...Once you heard her start to sing, its hard to resist to not to listened. There is something so magical about her voice that only her can do that. and when you heard her singing you can't get enough of her. You'll be wanting more of her voice. I my self can attest to that.
“Thank you” how does she do that.. She can make me feel emotions with just a single word on how she says/sings it. I even love her speaking voice too. 💙
I'm a 40yr old raised on 80s-90s metal music, but I have to give credit where credit is due... Karen had the most powerful voice of the past 3-4 decades. Her style of music isn't my cup of tea, but that voice is hypnotizing... I could listen to her for hours on end and never get tired of hearing Karen... RIP! Such a senseless death!
You're simply a pure class, Karen. Those past and present singers, none are even come close to you.
Love you for ever.
A beautiful song sung by the awesome Karen Carpenter. What a voice ! What interpretation !
How I miss her !!! Gone TOO soon ...
When Karen started singing <3 wow !!
probably the best ever female singer??? i am not in for a comparison and a comparison is impossible! the quality of the voice is out of the world! and nothing seemed to be impossible with that voice.
I love the panorama around the piano. Karen you were just so beautiful it hurts...
That voice was PURE GOLD!
