  • This is more than a book haul. I give you snippets of info into the Waldorf philosophy and how we intend to use these books. The concepts in these books are nothing new to us; we done form drawing, watercolor painting and movement math, but these books are going to help provide more background information and definitely boost the inspiration. I'm super excited about them!!
    A special thank you to all of you who have already shared the form drawing books online. Seeing them was the reason why I went to Amazon to buy them. Of course, Amazon then suggested other books, and I was immediately sucked in. A couple hundred dollars later, you have this: the most exciting book haul of our school year....hands down.
    Here are some of the books we got:
    Form Drawing book 1:

    Form Drawing book 2:

    Spelling by Hand

    When we were little, our teacher had us sit in a circle and do the thing where are you were saying to throw a bag across at each other to do the math, like the geometric forms. Only she would have us use a ball of yarn and you would hold on to the yarn when you caught it and then you would throw it across to the next person and when you were done you had the pattern drawn out in the center. It was cool. Does that make sense?

    Hi Hannah. I just wanted to take a minute and say thank you for your channel and videos. I watch almost all of them though I rarely comment. 😉 Im not a waldorf homeschooler but I love mixing up how and what I teach and you provide such great inspiration. Also, I especially want to thank you for sharing your attitudes and experiences with delayed academics. I put my daughter in school for grade 1 but have her home now for grade 2, but we are starting with grade 1 math and english curriculum, because the school did such a poor job of communicating I have little idea what she learned or what system they used to teach, so Im starting at the beginning with these curriculum so that both she and I have a consistent start.
    In addition, my son is 4 and I have no qualms at all about having nothing but bible stories, play, and story time with him. I think had I not heard your great input on delayed academics that I might be stressing about my 7 year old doing grade 1 curriculum or feeling like I "should" have something official for my 4 year old. Deep down I know better, but your videos have helped ease my mind and quiet any other voices.
    Thank you again and God bless you,Nicole

    That is so interesting about the form drawing being helpful for ADHD. I can totally see why it would be. I’ve had that book on my wishlist ever since Chrissy mentioned it on IG. Thanks so much for showing us these books!

      I feel like we have a list of all the things we need to do, then we put it all in a jar, screw on the lid, mix it up and pour it out!! I would love more regularity, but I also like moving with our interests. I am making an effort to lock in some pillars into our day.

      I haven't used it yet, but as I do, I'll be sure to share my thoughts. For movement math, I find that it's best to learn the basics from someone and experience it because it's a bit of a challenge. I've learned how to do movement math at the Waldorf conference, and it still took a decent amount of practice to get it. My sister and I are practicing so we can make some tutorial videos.

      Hi Sophie! Welcome to Waldorf homeschooling! The third grade year also includes the Jewish prophet stories and stories of the Saints, I believe. I think with math you continue with the four operations in preparation for fractions which comes up in the fourth year.

    • @PepperandPine
      @PepperandPine  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi Laurin, though I've been to the Wild and Free conference, I was referring to the Live-Education Waldorf homeschool conference this past July. Yeah, that is usually my frustration in purchasing books online. Since we use educational funding from our charter school, I feel more at ease about buying books because if they don't work out, we just give them back to the school and another family can use them. It's why I try to show as much of the insides of books as possible so people can make purchasing decisions without the worry of it not working out. Did you go to the recent Wild and Free conference?

    • @mamaflowers

      Pepper and Pine I haven't been, but I was looking into it.

    • @PepperandPine
      @PepperandPine  Před 6 lety

      It's a very good conference, one of the best and most entertaining I've been to. It seems like a lot of people attend regularly and you can see that friendship among the speakers come through. Having homeschooled as long as I have, I didn't quite need that kind of inspiration, but if you are new to homeschooling or new to Charlotte Mason, it's an amazing and rejuvenating experience. I get that feeling from attending the Waldorf homeschool conference.

    Are you familiar with “ Painting and drawing In Waldorf Schools” Classes 1 to 8 from Thomas Wildgruber? I just got it from Amazon and find it amazing. If you know the book, do you think it is thorough enough for beginners?

    You need to stop sharing all these amazing products...I can't buy them all! Haha. I'm waiting for a book to come in about form drawing, but it wasn't any of these. I hope it has some beautiful pictures in it as well. Thank you for mentioning that form drawing helps children with AdHD. I am going to be starting form drawing with my second grader who struggles with that as well as some sensory processing issues. I'm glad to hear I'm moving in the right direction for him!

    • @PepperandPine
      @PepperandPine  Před 6 lety +1

      Yes, Heather, absolutely! It will be meditative for anyone. I'm looking forward to doing it as well. When it's in the curriculum, I'm not apt to get creative with it, but these books/workbook lend themselves well to expanding the art and getting creative with it. It should be fun! When you get your book in, do share the title and how you like it.
