It’s kinda like with Alabama QBs, it’s hard to tell how good they are when they’re playing with a young NFL team around them and all the competition is playing with kids who started on varsity in high school because they were seniors.

His pro day he missed a good amount of passes. He can potentially be good but I don't see it. Played in D2 and not even a full season.

There's definitely gotta be more to the story than that press conference. I know his stats aren't great but I believe he's like 5-2. And could've been 6-1. I think he's already got a few game winning drives and come from behinds. Which imo, is pretty impressive considering that he probably would benefit more from sitting a year or two and learning the game more. I got a feeling a story will be coming out within the next couple weeks.
Idk if the Jets will put him back on the field this season.

I was skeptical about him during the draft because he really didn't do much in college and he was bad more than good. I haven't seen Lance do anything yet to garner any praise and he will be just as big a project as Wilson.

Wilson could have even said something like: "I don't know where it all went wrong, but I will take a deep dive examination on my performance in this game and consider what I saw at the time versus what I see on the tape and try to figure out what happened." This doesn't "admit" to anything about who's at fault, but it's not the answer that he gave.

Not the same situation/ position by no means but Tony G was benched in his 2nd year and he obviously went on to be the greatest TE of all time. So it's possible Zach Wilson gets better from this.
Personally, I wanted Fields before the draft. The mechanics looked better and I think his ceiling is immensely higher. I was never sold on Zach but trusted in Saleh and Joe D. What happened against the Pats, amongst other things was truly unbelievable. This benching will hopefully allow him to reflect on not only this season but the past two years. He's got a lot of work to do and our fanbase doesnt want to hear him apologize cause he was told to. Learning experience I hope he takes seriously as everyone else is ready to win now.
