We have just been through a period here in the UK where the Government defined normal church gatherings as non-essential and thereby closed Christian worship upon that basis. When churches were allowed periods of physical attendance, certain key practices such as singing, socialising and communion were also deemed illegal/unhygenic. The response of the church? Most closed willingly, and some it appears had even requested such action, so large numbers of attendees have been without actual fellowship for most of this year - a condition set to continue into 2021. The premise raised constantly is Romans 13, but is such compliance really what's applicable for right now, or should believers be rejecting such rulings?

The same happened here in the states and it was a shame.
I think as believers we need to do as the early believers did and meet in our homes
Or in parks or the woods….literally wherever we can…
Obviously in the Uk, the enforced isolation was more barbaric, but I think we
Have to choose who we serve and show by that example to others.

We should obey the law so long as it is not contrary to God’s law. When it is contrary to God’s law we must be non-violently disobedient.

It isn't true that Jesus was only passive and meek. When he saw abuse and injustice by the money changers in the temple he took a whip to them and turned over their tables. When he confronted the ruling elites of his day he exchanged some harsh words with tjem about the oppression they were weighing people down with. Love is meek when it needs to be meek and harsh when it needs to be harsh.

    • @SaneNoMore
      @SaneNoMore Před rokem +1

We have an over abundance of “harsh” love these days and Christians need to better emulate the meek love that was far more common in the early Church.

I'm not trying to be a troll, but I've often wondered- just as a mental exercise- what Gods position was on our Founding Fathers and their break with England. In the Holy Scriptures its clear God ordained governments and even install kings.
Its kinda an interesting question. King George III was not demanding people worship a statue of him. Really the whole thing boiled down to who had a right to govern the colonies, Parliment or the colonies themselves. I wouldn't get TOO off on this subject, but it is a fun topic!😀

You make a great point, but I think that leads us God's sovereignty over all things. Man is responsible for his sin but God can use the sin of man for his purpose. America didn't happen by accident, it happened because God is sovereign.

This is not true. King George was forcing people to worship his church. Anyone who did not was persecuted. The American Revolution was as much about religious freedom as it was about taxation without representation. That is exactly what the First Amendment is about. Freedom to worship the God of the Bible without the government telling you how to interperate the scriptures. This is followed by the Second Amendment in which it was recognised that without the threat of physical force, tyrany will develop. It's disappointing to see this ignored in this brief video. America is different. We are not yet oppressed and enslaved (some in California may disagree). If we do not stand up, we will be.

Wow, I was reading some of these posts and some well grounded believers have responded, but I'm seeing people who have been deceived by doctrines of demons and believing lies of the enemy. It IS clear that too many have fallen away and do not seek the truth or love the truth and have abandoned the sound teachings of the old and new testament. Too many have not been taught in the word as a foundation and are casting out the old testament as no longer applicable. That is a lie from the enemy of the word of God. Do these people realize that when Jesus and the disciples were teaching THERE WAS NO NEW TESTAMENT? Surely many have been led astray.

Non Christians are also held accountable for lack of love so let’s not exclude them of that responsibility or claim that our love is more accountable. Actions will be held accountable regardless of claims of religion. I suppose one question this has raised is what happens if no one who shows love never hears about Jesus Christ. I suppose there is a system in place for someone who does not have access to scripture to understand and know who Jesus is. If they have no opportunity to know him and go to hell how could that be an equal offering of forgivness. On side note: this reveals the importance of sharing the gospel. Back on topic: God can’t be a worse judge than us. So if anyone knows the system or think there is none let me know and why.

Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah did not engage in "civil disobedience"; Nebuchadnezzar the king had absolutely no power or authority to command the conscience. Every man is free to worship God according to the dictates of his own conscience. Nebuchadnezzar crossed the line of his authority as a civil ruler, and that being the case, such a command was null and void. Therefore there could not have been any "civil disobedience". We are to obey civil government insofar as such obedience is consistent with the Law of God. We ought to obey God, rather than man.

When there is a conflict between the requirements of a civil authority and God's word, Dr. Hall provides instances from Daniel where the civil authority was not heeded. There was obedience to God's word. But there was disobedience to the civil authorities. It is certainly the case that Nebuchadnezzar should NOT have required worship. No question. But, in obeying God, the civil law was certainly DIS-obeyed.

    • @michaelquintana678

your correct.. but if we diissobey civil law it should only be because we seek to honor and obey God and for no other reason. like disobeying tyranny for the purpose of honoring Gods ways. but some in these days want to dissobey civil law just to make there own laws without God in mind.. thatts the two differences

@@paul3441 He came not to destroy the law but to fulfill it. The Old Testament is still an extremely valuable part of Scripture for Christians and while we do not practice the ceremonial law we very much should strive to live up to and be guided by the moral law. ALL Scripture is given by inspiration of God, not just the New Teastament.
