    Good job! I particularly like your background information leading up to your review to let the viewers know where you're coming from. I also like the fact that instead of lambasting small things you didn't like you were certain to include that it was simply your preference rather than any universal defects on the bike. Although I must say that you may be costing my some serious money because I'm seriously considering trading in my 2009 Kawi verseys for the FZ1. thanks, Z

    Another good thing about fz1 as for mine 2009 the handle bars can adjust down to that aggressive look.

    Good review, I am tossing up between the FZ1 2007 or Ninja 1000 2011, I like both but for some reason I am drawn towards the "tough" looks of the FZ1

    i sure like youre bike and i want one like it. i have a 2001 fz1 with a yoshamira pipe and ivans jet kit pluss a k/n filter with modified air box. i also added adjustable dog bones in the rear to give me choice in hieght. it was to tall for me and i was on my toes at stops. the power is sick now and ver comfortable. still i want the updated 2007 fz1.

    The bike should not feel too small for you. Make sure to dial in the suspension to your weight and riding style for best result.
    The power is not unpredictable. It will be a nice upgrade from a 600cc. It has the same engine as the R1 with different fuel mapping. It has the power when you need it but is tame when you want it to be.

    No, the flat spot cannot be cured with Power Commander. FZ8 has similar issue.
    You need a PCM reflash

    those shinko raven tires. i've went down on those. the FJR guys on the forum seem to swear by them for cheap mileage but cornering grip just isn't what it should be. anyway just got my FZ1 and runing D221's on it, so far i like them for S/T tires, despite the front tire center groove that tracks now and then.

    nice review. I have an 09. You need to cruise at 4,500 rpm at least. Even in the city. At 3,000 rpm you are lugging the engine. The power output is geared really high on these bikes. What some people do is go down a tooth on the sprocket. Check out Copperdawg on youtube and his amazing tweeks you can do to these bikes for performance and rideability. And Ivans FCE mod (Fuel cutoff eliminator). Check out the FZ10A Board. Everything FZ1. Anyhow like your review.

    And I've "gone down" on Michelin Pilot Powers. Too many variables to consider to put the accident solely on the tires.

    I thought you did a good job at reviewing your bike;) yes it does look good with the less is more in the fairing department, starting with the top fairing & with the addition of the bottom pan gives it a great stance, without being fully enclosed like the R1, plus the ergos are much improved over the R1, well for me they would be seeing I like the semi naked & naked look of certain bikes !
    I would pick this type of bike as well, I have been looking at them now for a few years, it would make a great sport touring bike all kitted out with good hard panyards, maybe a little better seat for the long trips, not sure how the stock saddle would do for a 600 mile days ride ?
    Maybe you can speak about that subject in another video ? That's a hint BTW..lol
    Also like how you tell about yourself, your likes & dislikes about this bike, no doubt its helpful to people like me, and I would say to others as well.
    Having rode with a chap from the UK that now lives near Asheville,NC area that rides a FZ1 close to the year of your bike, it did quite well in handling department, I was following one day on my SV650 naked with the same type of tires you have on your bike Shinko's, the only hindrance for me that day was I had lowered the air pressure by over 10 PSI a few days before to ride on unpaved roads, this made the bike wallow a bit in the tight curves we were riding.
    I can say this will no hesitation even after using many others, Shinkos worked just as good, even better than I expected, especially for the price !
    Most people say they work great on just about every bike they are used on; ) what are your feelings regarding them, and one last question, how is the fuel usage on your bike ?----> Thanks a lot. yl

      ***** Thank you for the comment. Nice to see a fellow rider that appreciates a semi-naked bike. For 600 mile days, I would definitely look in to an after market saddle. The stock one is good until about 100 miles and then you need a break.
      I love the Shinkos, especially for the price. I don't really push them too hard in the twisties, but they are a great bargain for an everyday rider that wants a tire that will do everything reasonably well.

    I'm thinking about buying this bike. Only concern is I'm new to bikes and wanted to know if this bike is a good start. Also is height an issue with it comes to bikes? I'm not the tallest guy out there and I don't want to feel awkward being on it.

    • @ebay111978
      @ebay111978  Před 8 lety

      +Avarti I would not recommend this bike as a first bike. And yes it is a tall bike. An FZ6 or FZ6R would be a better first bike

    how do you think the blackbird compares to fz1? i drive biks 20 years and drive the blackbird for 6 years ( no tracks ) im pretty tall 6.4 ( 195cm )

    • @ebay111978
      @ebay111978  Před 8 lety

      The blackbird is a nice bike but technology and performance wise the FZ1 is far superior. the blackbird would be more comparable to the first gen Concours.

      I just sold my blackbird and I plan to buy a 2007 FZ1 with 35.000 miles on it with no previous accidents, How is reliability of this bike Mr. Sean; Would you recommend it since I also plan to do another 10.000 miles on it? and it terms of braking, can it compete with blackbird since blackbird has combined braking advantage which balances braking dosages front and rear...thank you for your kind response

    • @ebay111978
      @ebay111978  Před 7 lety

      I would not be bothered by the miles as long as it has be taken care off. Valves should have been check at 25k. If the owner has records you should be fine. I prefer non-linked brakes and the FZ1 has plenty of braking power. It will be a nice upgrade in my opinion.

    I'm one of those people who hate the exhaust. Yamaha engineers are some of the best, but they can't design a muffler to look good for shit. They demonstrate this time and time again over the years. This is a really handsome brute...but please get rid of that muffler

    • @ebay111978
      @ebay111978  Před 9 lety

      The exhaust for sure is a "love it or hate it" kind of piece. I think manufacturers purposely design them as such so people would purchase aftermarket.

      +Tito Sean I think the current all black version looks a lot better. Probably could just paint the silver parts with some black engine paint. It's nice and quiet too, I ride by cops with a black and white FZ-1 and they just about give me the thumbs up. I want an aftermarket pipe for the power and the huge weight savings, but I don't think I'd get any more passes from the cops.
