    What is your biggest hookbait hack, tweak or tip? (Also this video reminds me of going off fishing as a kid, packed with a tin of corn, some worms dug from the garden and of course a tin of Luncheon Meat that in true childlike style would be eaten as soon as I got hungry - normally by mid afternoon!)

      A garlic vitamin slow release capsule in my mesh or PVA bag always does the trick in winter for me👍🏻 Decent video, can you use the hook bait enhancement dip to harden up the Luncheon meat?

    • @MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV
      @MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV  Před 3 lety +2

      @@garyguest.1885 Ive not tried that Gary but it wouldn't hurt - to harden up the Luncheon Meat I normally let it air dry a little. The middle stays soft but the outside is firms to a skin that helps prevent a bait stop (large) pulling through.

      Haven’t used luncheon meat in a while as a hookbait and I was curious whether it would work on that we always used a piece of twig back in the day as a stop ha ha!
      I’ve tried the Link & the Cell enhancement dip on the freezer boilies before and it does work a treat it’s an innovative product and it does tend to preserve them too

      The way we used to harden Luncheon Meat back in the day was to fry it in a little oil in the pan.

    Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit czcams.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

    After you roll the wafter in paste, you could dip it in smart liquid before covering it in ground bait👍👍

    When I make boillies, I always set aside some paste as a wrap, to me this is pure flavour before the boiling process and I believe it pulls the fish towards them that bit quicker but never thought to roll them in groundbait after. Thanks for the tip

    I often drill a hole into a boilie filling this with liquid and close it with paste. After a short time in whater the hookbait will be extremly attractive. It's a good method for short instant sessions and brought great results to me.

    I've got dried chillies and flakes and two halves of a garlic clove in a pot with some squid boilies and pop ups infused for two years lol
    I also like to add a little bit of glug to coat your hookbait then add Rock salt... They almost fizz

    Yet another great video from you guys, a method I've had success with, which is similar to a snowman bait set up, is to cut an 18mm cell freezer bait in half, then put a 15mm cell pop up soaked in goo above it on the hair/mini swivel n floss. Used this on a d rig and it sits beautifully.

    When you make your own pop ups or wafters,heres a little tip,as you lift your baits out of the pan,due to the ingredients the bait will have swollen considerably and the matrix of the bait is incredibly porous,instead of tipping onto a towel add them to a tub containing your smart liquid of choice,it will superheat the smart liquid and thin it enough to be partially absorbed into the bait,now you can only do it once,you dont need to add loads and it wont be absorbed to the centre of the bait but it does go in enough to make a difference,tip them out of the tub onto a plate and let them dry off,i might add its not only smart liquid you can use for this process,again dont go mad,its definitely a case of "less is more",it may affect the buoyancy,its definitely an edge,be careful with hot baits and liquids,the smart liquid on a hot bait and rolled in a powder of your choice is also a messy option too

  • @davidross1502
    @davidross1502 Před 3 lety

    What i do John is similar to your paste version, but wht i do is flatten paste and add a sprinkling of groundbait and then put wafter in middle and slowly close it upwards and then sprinkle bit more groundbait before sealing it and gentle roll. When paste disloves the dry groundbait clouds out and flows upwards in water coloum. Just something different that I know other anglers won't be doing etc.

    • @garyguest1885
      @garyguest1885 Před 3 lety +1

      @@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV Maybe it’s under used because it isn’t as solid as a boilie on the hair I find it’s better to use paste directly onto the hook if used on its own, but it still breaks right down after a few hours. Your tip of wrapping it around a boilie would solve all that tho👍🏻

    Not really a hack I use metal meat coils straight on a size 4 krank stopped with a hook bead, coil can move out of fishes way when in play, only issue is little fish, however never comes of during cast more than likely you bring in to check thinking meat has gone n it's still there, bagged many barbel carp n chub using meat coils another option for meat paste cheese n other soft baits
