Do you use corn when fishing?
If so, how do you use it?
In this video, we did carp fishing using a lot of corn and boilies.
Of course, as always, we also catch carp!
There are some slightly challenging parts, but please take a look.

Hi , the hard corn that is not boiled is very hard for the carp to digest and has no appetite for several days or weeks. For this reason most forbid dry corn that is not boiled on their ponds.
Instead, boiled corn that is soft or boxed corn such as bonduelle is ok, the carp digests it quite quickly, and his appetite is on for next day 😁
Thank you for watching and commenting.
That's the first time I've heard that opinion!
I didn't know that uncooked corn was not good. I've only ever used canned corn that's been cooked!

Wow! One of the best underwater video’s I’ve seen. Learned so much from that. Match the hatch is best, and they take the particles from around the edge long before they get to the middle of the pile. I’m a match angler but this really helps me understand how carp behave. It’s given me a few ideas to try out. Thanks a lot for sharing.
Thank you for watching and for your comment.
I was hoping the carp would immediately eat the bait in the middle, but they seemed quite cautious and didn't come close easily.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Great video learn so much more watching carp under water on how they react to different baits and colours baits keep the videos coming 👍

Unreal footage!

Carp love corn anything 😮
Thank you for watching and commenting.
That's correct!😄
just shows how good sweet corn is ,and how ineffective boilies can be,,they eyed up the boily then scarpered it only worked when most of the sweet corn had gone and more carp were competing for the last grains, and stirred up the muck on the bottom obscuring the rig that could be seen clearly before, interesting video,,tight lines ,sweet corn next time i go,,
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Indeed, having just one boilies there looks quite unnatural, and they seem to be quite wary!
VERY GOOD VIDEO ! To select big carp (over 20 pounds), if you don't have boilies, there is no need to use a different bait, you just need the corn to be baited to be much harder than the sweet corn for bait. Soak agricultural corn for only 24 hours and do not cook it. A big carp has much more power in its pharyngeal teeth than a small one, and its lips are so sensitive that it allows it to make an initial selection of what it can ingest or not. Bait generously as in the video BUT do not place your hard corn on the baiting mat, place it 1 or 2 meters outside, big carp are very wary, they will be more easily tempted by an isolated bait. After which you have to be patient...😉
Thank you for watching and commenting.
I see, it's better to keep the bait slightly apart from the others.
Thank you for letting me know.😄
You can see how cautious they are, gentle picking up the bait, seemly to hold it then ejecting. Probably waiting to see if they get hooked, big beds of bait seem to be a warning, they eye it up and skirt around the edges, I am sure they do pick up the bait many times and eject it without the angler ever seeing any indication.
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Yes, that's right.
The carps are quite cautious and don't approach easily.
It seemed like they knew which baits were dangerous.
Such a cool video! Good to see how our target fish react to a bed of corn.

I have caught carp on just light bread (white) , corn, cat food (dry mixed with some water) dough balls, homemade jello dough, a mixture of minute rice, instant grits with ketchup. kinda depends on where your fishing and pond or river/creek.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
You mixed a lot.
That's great.
Carp fishing is fun because you can try many different baits!
It's quite clear water put some boilies and hemp jest sweetcorn use it on the hook??
Thank you for watching and commenting.
I understand.
Thank you for letting me know!
Great vid,, if that was a yellow pineapple pop up it would be deadly, there just to wary of the colour of your boilie 👍
Thank you for watching and commenting.
The color of bait is indeed important.
Good video. But why not scatter the corn freebies and then use a hook bait with corn or fake single pop up corn as a hook bait. U can see the fish are wary of the orange ball. To the point they clean up area around it. I’ve seen a lot of under water vids where the hook bait looks nothing like the free offerings. And so often the fish know there’s something that doesn’t look right. Surely entice the fish with free stuff but with a camouflaged bait, I wonder would your hooking rate be higher?
Thank you for watching and commenting.
It's more illustrative for the carp fishing experiment to use baits of different colors.
When I really can't catch anything, I resort to using the same bait as the surrounding ones.😄

When i was a kid 50 years ago i went to the red owl store and bought a can of corn for 10 cents, biked down to the milwaukee river. We always put a can of corn on a drop line but only put holes in the can with a old style opener that punched the triangle holes, left the can right before sunset then came back the following morning to remove the can and using the kernels for bait in the same location...we used it for cats AND carp...
@@user-kx4cq3lh6xthis might be a dumb question but doesnt all the ‘flavour’ get out of the corn then?

Wow, they were cautious. That's why I spread the bait more and still fish just off it
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Because the bait is too clustered, it feels like the fish are reluctant to approach it. I'll be more careful next time.
@@extremefishcrossing was interesting to see their response to a heavy baiting. Going back quite a few years, a small group of us used to test new baits in an out of bounds shallowish bay, a few carp used to pretty much go straight in and start feeding, but most of the carp, mainly commons strangely, would just swim around the outside of the baiting area and just pick up one or two baits then swim off and then come back and do it again
Didn't actually finish my reply lol. ....ever since then I've fished on the outside of a baited area, it works.
@@clivelogsdon1492 In this video, similar things are happening. I've been filming for about a week, but the carp don't seem to come near the bait easily.

Cool video. :) How much time between changing the pink hookbait to a yellow hookbait? I have some camera movies myself, i find it very interesting.

They obviously comunicate with each other , 2 arrived at first ,tasted it ,swam off and 4 came back, then more arrived , so im seeing how sensitive these fish are and if you can read body language looks like the leader swam across in front of the Orange Ball to tell them to leave it alone. Excellent video, more interesting than British TV. 😂😂

It often happens that when one of the carp is startled, the others in the area don't show themselves for a while.
It seems that the carp are indeed warning each other of danger.🐟

I used to use corn for planted trout, but read that it blocks their intestines. I guess for the larger carp it wouldn't be an issue.

I've heard the same thing, I think some states have banned the use of corn because of that.
Crafty buggers. Hopefully I can bank 1 of similar size in tomorrow's first session of the year. Yellow boilies and corn on rod 1 and 2, with a big red gubstopper on 3.

Carp are very cautious and intelligent.
They are difficult to catch.
So this is one reason that I squirt some attractant in a can of corn and use it as hook bait but around where I live im the only one that fishes for carp so they are not used to a whole bunch of bait
Thank you for watching and commenting.
It's better to have fewer people fishing for carp around because then there are more carp to catch.

You should really try RANGE CUBES (Cattle Feed) they break down in a short time like 45 minutes. Carp LOVE these large cigar sized pellets and after they have broken down they make a cloud of nutritious particles flowing over thier senses with great results in feed stimulation. Then fishing over the broken down Range Cubes with Maize or boilies , and tiger nuts is deadly. :)

Thank you for your views and comments.
That's an interesting question.
I wonder about that too.
Let's see if someone knowledgeable can enlighten us!
Sweetcorn is like haribo to carp they love it ,try sweetcorn pasties ...get a slice of bread and place your rig and hook bait in the middle of it and then half a handful of tinned sweet corn and fold the bread around it all with wet hands , the bread sticks together and binds it a in a ball containing your rig and bait then drop it in the margin you've been baiting for a few days .....they digest bread and corn very easily and the two combined make for the best not only carp bait but tench barbel and bream love it just as much plus roach . Almost all coarse fish will take bread and corn before anything else ....the old ways are best cheap too .

I don't pretend to know all about fish and corn but some fish (trout) will eat it thinking its eggs. The problem is they are not equipped to digest corn so their guts clog and they die.

Thank you for your input and comment.
I haven't tried using worms yet, but I'll consider giving them a try someday.
Don't you find that using only corn takes too long for the carp to gather?
@@extremefishcrossing no, what I have found is carp like to feed in certain areas for some odd reason. If you move 10 feet left or right of that spot they don't feed, i fish the same spots because of this. Once I find a spot they eat I keep going to that spot. You will notice areas were they congregate. I also take the water from the can of corn keeping the lid on and dump all the juice in the water spreading out in the current before I start to chum. My buddy can attest to the spot fishing I told him to try it one day and move down away from a spot I found sure enough I caught 6 in 30 minutes he caught zero. As soon as he moved back he started catching them. They like slack water silty bottom, in the canals for some reason its always under a overhanging tree with no veg growth in the water

Put some putty or a split shot on your rig and you can adjust how high it sits by adding more or less

@@keithholder2904 Thank you for watching and commenting. I'm struggling with figuring out how high I should set it.
Your rig is sitting flat on the bottom which is ideal as it is not a silty lakebed try changing hook bait to corn and using a smaller hook even down to a size 10. I’ve had plenty of of double figure fish on a single grain of corn on the hook and feeding 8mm pellets and corn
