I am 55 years old, and I learned to fish with bamboo rods and how to float the cork. The best lures are the ones that are homemade. I use a lot of corn and bait. Grated cheese, honey, vanilla, strawberry syrup, banana, cherry, anise. This is in the summer. In winter I use worms, maggots, fish kibble and anchovy oil. The boiles? I'll leave them to those who don't know how to fish. 😅 Because the real fisherman must also know how to make bait
I love my tost paste.
Get sliced fresh tost bread.
Pour water and liquid smell of your choice (i use scopex) in bucket.
Soak toast bread 3-4 seconds in spiced water, and then put slices in another empty bucket.
When every slice is soaked, mash them with fingers, and sprinkle it with few handfull of groundbait until you get paste (depending how much groundbait you put, its stiffer or looser).
I use paste around wire spiral 25-45g freerunning feeders.
Because of bread, liquid, and groundbait smell combined, fish really like it😁. Hookbait can be anything (worms, pinkies, corn, pellet...)
I was using pedigree chum mixers 40yrs ago, before it became popular. A friend and I were fishing a lake near Oulton park where there was a carp fishing match. I was having a fish a chuck. Nobody else was catching, but I emptied the place. Two guys fishing the match came over and I gave them some of my bait, and they caught.
I have to admit, I stole the idea from a friend who was using cat buiscuits, I only had dogs, so thought I would try the dog biscuits. At the time the chum mixers were chum mixers with gravy. I soaked the mixers in warm water to make them spongy, so it stayed on the hook, but the hook pulled straight out on the strike. I was fishing 8 to 12 feet from the bank ( actually it was a wall, about 3-4 feet deep.)
It was the best day carp fishing I’ve ever had.
I've had good results with lupin seeds, which I understand are popular with French carp anglers. I prepare them much like other particles, 48-hour soak, followed by 40 minutes in a pressure cooker. You can mount two or three on a hair rig, but I've found just a single seed, hair-rigged, works best for me, regularly catching me commons to 17lb. on my local water.
Good video mate, i cant think of anyone else who can give such a good presentation as you do in all the videos, excellent all round
Brilliant video mate thank you. Only started fishing last year and your videos have help me massively!
Ahh glad to hear that mate :) happy you're enjoying it!! 👍
Great video Carl. My grandson has re-introduced me to fishing after more than 50 years thanks to your videos.
That's lovely to hear! Thank you Richard :)

Another awesome video carl with lots of great info .🎣👍👍
Thanks Michael :) glad you found it helpful!
I am 13 years old and just starting my own youtube channel, I love your videos and have inspired me so much!
Happy to hear that :) have fun!
Many years ago I used to use butter beans ,cheap and pretty effective at avoiding bream , short range only and did add molasses .to them .
Just the video I needed
Thanks carl 😁👍🏻
You're welcome mate!
Great video showing the different kinds of bait its a minefield out their . However would like to just run back to spam i use it a lot on my local waters and have great success with meat screws they hold the bait well had a lot less falling off since using them they come in metal or plastic/nylon . Middy also do a range of pre tied hook to nylon with meat screws . Though i prefer to tie my own using the plastic screw as the point on the metal variety is a bit sharp and in my opinion could damage a fish if digs in while playing it
Sat on the bank and now a Carl video, lol thank you ❤
Hope you had a nice one :)
Great information, many thanks for sharing!
You're welcome mate :) Glad it was helpful!
Love your video Carl fished 4 50 years but u put information over lovely Happy New year
Cheers Tony, you too!
As a US carper, bullhead catfish and bluegill are the bane of my existence. Definitely going to try some fake corn along with my strawberry jello/panko bread crumb/sweetcorn mix and see if that helps keep bait on my rig!
I started carp fishing in 2001 when i was 18 . My rigs were very simple and mainly used natural or small baits . Now i have all the latest gear and baits but sometimes you can't beat using a float and a worm for bait 😂
Thank you for the good tipps it helps a lot
i love your videos
I'm glad they help :)
Very useful and educational video. Thank you very much
👍👍
You're welcome mate! Glad you found it helpful :)

AQABA I @@fishingtutorials
I used brown seeded bread float fishing. I caught Tench and Crusian 💪🏻❤️ They clearly loved the seeds 🤣🤣
Great vid once again
Thanks mate :)
Hi Carl, what is your opinion in mixing different flavours and brands in spod mix and different for hookbait. For example spod mix (nasbaits scopex squid, cell) and for hookbait sticky the krill?
Great video
Nice Video👍 Like always😉
Hi Carl I’m fishing a my syndicate is full of naturals zebra muscles snails the lot. It’s also full of weed. What a baits would you suggest? Hemp?
@2:55 well done!!!!!! 😮😍
Very nice ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Carl what is you favourite pop up and and rig to use with it?
great video
Cheers mate! :)
When I use luncheon meat I like to use a Parisien spoon or commonly known as a melon Baller. I’m a chef by trade and tried it one day and obviously it then presents itself just like boile And just rolls along the river bed thanks for all the advice that you give in you’re videos all the best
Ah that's cool! You're welcome mate :) all the best
I agree that bread is the best bait. It's easily available everywhere, it's cheap as chips, I pay 75p for a large, thick sliced loaf. Best of all, carp and other fish all love it! It can be fished on the bottom or on the surface! I've even caught perch on bread. Best all round bait IMHO.
Great Video! I actually catch most of my carp with cheese. And sturgeon bite too (which is not really a challenge because sturgeon eat everything).
My dads mate fishes with cheese and bread. He always catches.
Ahh nice! Thank you mate!
Nice video well interesting
Thanks mate! I'm glad :)
Hi. We use the powder bait and make balls. They snap of my line when I cast. Why does my line snap? Thanks.
Your videos are so cool Carl I think I should do some more like vidioes
Also can u do another pile vidio I think people would like it and would be great
i use enterprise and ESP fake corn beacuse they work like a pop-up and it sits a little bit up from the bottom and i like to use it with groundetd particles in pva bagc with some goo
1st comment love you videos and they Definately help
Glad to hear that :)
We're do I go to order this stuff from America? I want boilies and that feed bait I can throw out..
If you cut your Spam into slices then fry it on two sides until it goes very light brown it puts a nice surface on it. Then you can cut it into chunks and it stays on your hook or hair for a long time
Oh yes half for me half for the fish haha
Or just buy bacon grill instead of spam and it stays on fine and is cheaper
Can you use sweetcorn all year round?
Hey carl good video are you coming to carp den bosh 2024?
In the match world majority of us use warburtons toastie loaf thick cause it’s more gluten so it’s stickier for the small hooks for the pole
Are the fish with carl bags available to public or is it a one of the type thing ? Ide love one of those
Sorry mate, they're not available. I got some made to test, but unfortunately the cost is still too high. Would love to if we're able to make it work cost-wise one day.
One day I might have to just stick Ur logo on one just for myself 😂😂 if that's not copyright or anything.@@fishingtutorials
hey! crayfish also **LOVE** corn, thats the only way i catch them, other that hand picking them 7 in each hand while diving!
Also worth noting. The use of tiger nuts are banned on many waters because people dont know how to prepare them correctly so just double check with where ever you are going before you do use them and learn how to prepare them properly. I think you had to boil them and leave them soaking in water for a long time to get them safe for the carp to eat.
Very true :)
How about a video lure fishing for carp?
My best dip IV tried is port soaked cell
Yep bit off port just missing the cheese lol
Magicarp!!!
:) :)
Carl what do you think is the best carp bait for big waters in the USA 😁
Not horse feed 😂
I find big beds of maize and tiger nuts have been very effective for me. Boilies have seemed to draw in too many catfish!
DID YOU TRY canned green peas in water FOR CARP WE DO IT SOUTH AFRICA it work
Fry the spam in some salt goes abit tougher
What’s that website called for your particles
Blakes Baits :)
@@fishingtutorials thank you
You're welcome!
I never go anywhere without my worms :)
Wih ikan nya besar tuan apakah itu ikan Koi ???
Mushing , mashing.
2 Carl can u make a catfish rig tortilla
In my opinion bakers meaty meals dog biscuits are the best surface bait by far only if people knew the power the bakers has
Agreed little soak in hemp seed oil and your hauling them 👍🏼
Carl, I've got a question you may be able to answer. Ok, Without being too graphic, we as humans eat sweetcorn, and it passes through our bodies undigested, it comes out whole, ok. So, as we know, fish love sweetcorn and we catch them on it all the time.
My question is, do they digest it and break it up inside their bodies? I can't imagine they would be physically able to pass a whole grain so I'm thinking their stomachs contain acids which digest it/break it up. Would you agree with this?
From my experience: Corn - Cheap, colorful, but attractive to small fishes
Rape - More expensive than corn, not much visible, very attractive and can be very smelly. Big carps love this. Its very soluble
Boilies - Small boilies for fast catch, bigger boilies for big carps
Pellets - Soluble, very attractive for fast takes
pop up boilies - attractive, but some big fishes find it suspicious
Come to mexico, where carp live in rivers on the side of corn farms lol
I believe using frozen shrimp from the grocery store as bait is illegal where I live, supposedly due to risk of imported farm raised shrimp introducing viruses that could harm crawfish and other local crustaceans.
Try use chip shop chips nearly caught a carp off one somehow
Why aren't you adding the option for Turkish subtitles? 😔Please add Turkish subtitles to your previous and future videos. Your videos are valuable to me.🥰
Sorry I haven’t added the option for Turkish subtitles! I don’t know how to speak Turkish. I’m very sorry!
Hi
Do you ever fish in Surrey..
And where just looking to go for a session at the end of month.
Yeah sometimes! I love Newdigate fisheries, it's lovely day ticket (no night fishing). This is where we caught some lovely golden orfe. They have carp, good tench, rudd etc. lots of fishing options and lakes to choose from czcams.com/video/TARfOOiFGmQ/video.html & czcams.com/video/pkAa6996pBE/video.html
Bait boat tutorial next?
When are you doing your next video?
Got a main channel film comes out on 3rd Feb!
1:31 Those are Carl Baits xD
Come to Cameroon. Let's fish some river giants
Carp also known as water chicken, eats absolutely everything that can be eaten
Hi Carl,How do you have so much time to respond to these comments?
I work on my CZcams channels full time these days!
Are you responding to these comments while you are fishing?
Sometimes, and other times when at home :)@@Leanderfishing
Ok 👌 👍
Haha I don't! That's why there's a lot that I miss :(
Bacon grill is better than spam and stays on the hook alot better.
Sliced bread is just wrong get an uncut fresh loaf
Boris Johnson definitely eats green Pepperami
go carp fishing in australia its so easy we catch hundreds down here, but they are an invasive species so you cant release them.
I'd struggle with that though, I wouldn't be able to kill a carp.
@@fishingtutorials yea i figured
If u baiting is more economic boil animal feed corn whit some sugar
I caught a grass carp in summer using peas
Honestly thanks for top tip! I will not be using peas.. I thought about giving them ago .. I always wondered why they were not used as bait ..
Nice!!
Des taylor frys the luncheon meat so that it does not fall off so easily.
Saving for a boat?
Columbo is your middle name ?
We in croatia use this more then 20 years! And more things what u discover netx years , and years and years ! ....
Has anybody ever tried using strawberries or blueberries as bait ? Before I go and waste my time trying them! I can't see how they can hurt carp if corn is ok .
Haha I caught a chub on a blackberry!
Wot about pva bags
PVA isn't really a bait so I didn't include it in this video. :) I have a full video about how to get the best from PVA here though: czcams.com/video/88tXbpQROKE/video.html&ab_channel=FishingTutorials
@fishingtutorials thank u does it say wot to put in the bags or mesh any mix that works for u the best
In my defence I use plastics in rivers otherwise baits become way too expensive
U could use anything to catch carp they will mouth absolutely anything just make sure your hooks in there lol
Every time I try prawns I catch ell, and I hate them 😅
I've done exactly the same! I've had specimen eels from every Lake when I've used prawn ..
Tigernuts are banned on many waters, so be careful Noobies
The video production value here is mental. A* mate 😅
Spam spam spam and chips spam and egg and spam.
😍
Mate they sell mixers in the supermarket, you didn’t need to go pets at home 😂
They didn't have any at the Tesco where I was filming.
Why u so botherd mate
@@TommyDoyle-er3jy who said I was? It’s called banter let your hair down and try it one day
@@Sick_To_The_Teethhe can’t take it mush
Bi
Warburtons bread stays on the hook better than any other brand. Tiger loaf is the goat for bread though.
Nice!! Never tried tiger!
Great video
Thanks!
