    Paul, I watched the video about shed door. You are a great teacher.
    Now you are my #1 CZcams guy. The small demo section of the videos -- is so easy to understand. I have to build a short door for my diy shed project. Watching your channel makes woodworking seem simpler to understand (for a woman who is a newbie).

    As a builder, I like having my Swanson Big 12 in hand. Good job Paul. On any jobsite, as we say speed square, we as builders know what we are referring to and about. No need for anyone to get hung up on a specific name or copy righted brand! Keep up the good work.

      @l.rey-era2413 Před 3 lety +1

      Yes. His explanation of "speed square," is somewhat misleading. Because it's fast pace and region/brand affiliated, it looks as if it's not Swanson American made, then it's not a "speed square." When in reality, a speed square has a specific design for various, but still specific, functions.
      Milwaukee advertise their version as a "tater square," though it's almost identical in function as a copyrighted "speed square."

    Hey Paul. I love your videos but as a retired carpenter of over 45 years with the first by 10 years as a framer a speed square is not the best option for laying out walls. First it's slow. Second laying out a 20'+ wall the error grows every move of the square. I always hook a tape and run down the plates marking every 16" minus the 3/4" and x on far side. I'm sure you do to. But I always kept a speed square in my pouch.

    • @paulstoolbox
      @paulstoolbox  Před 3 lety +4

      I totally agree with you Brian! This is just some cool trivia I wanted to share it is also good in a pinch. I always believe that we should know everything about our tools and if there’s a function I want to know what it is. You and I both know that most people use a speed square as a guide for 45 and 90 degree angles. Most know nothing else about them LOL. Have a good night buddy!

Pants are pants, right? Wrong. Thats why they invented brands. What other triangle thing also able to copy the diamond hole? None, anymore than Swanson can paint their red and call it a wykeekee special christmas edition. Why do you suppose theres no mom n pop shops in the middle of the mohave desert called Wall-mart?
