The rapier is downright impossible to read.

That's rightfully so tho. The rapier is one of the most complex dueling techniques to master. It absolutely should not be as easy to read as a longsword or any other melee weapon in chivalry, and that's just due to how the weapon is used.
This thing is still a bit hard for me to read, mostly because almost nobody uses it still. I just spam jab to keep initiative then do lights so I don't get gambled.
I always laugh and get a bit nervous simultaneously when I fight a Rapier user.
Because they're are either going to be:
A. Absolute chads with the rapier and decimate you.
B. Mindless noobs that try to spam slashes and neglect to use their best move, the stab.
There's no real in between in my experience. It's either A or B.
I just picked it up, and I'm trying to be more like A. As far as you know is the Rapier "broken"? Just had some guy send some hate mail claiming it was OP before calling me "White scum". Came here to find out.
Favorite weapon of rogues everywhere, very good, glad it doesn't suck now!

There's nothing more satisfying then clean slicing a players head off with the rapier, you feel like a samurai who just chopped a person in one strike

I said struggles. Not impossible, im a bit of a gamer after all.
I pair this baby up with the one-handed axe to cover the 1vX situations. It's so fun switching between the two!

A weapon for a more civilized age
Glad to see this. I just began using it when the update hit so I put it aside in favor of something to deal with horse mounted attacks better but I'm going back to it. I just got the thing. Im not sure what the requirements were to have a rapier but it seemed to take awhile.
I unironically really like this weapon, i was able to take out 3 guys with battle axes and a greatsword with it. Only died because their friends came and "saved" (they TKed some of them) .

Halberd, Greatsword, Polehammer, Highland Sword, Falchion and Rapier are my favorites right now.

How are you putting your shield onto your back? can you also pull it back out? when I put it away on accident I can not pull it back out.
If you press the primary weapon button again it will toggle between shield and no shield. Same with the secondary weapon.
The fact that Mason has the conquistador Helmet while Agatha has the armor physically pains me
Same. Glad I can combine it for FFA even though I solely play big objectives
These are the people I avoid the in every flourish to fight server. They simply aren’t fun to duel with.

You can pick one up as any class, but yes.

Why aren't you using your shield?
Weapons attack faster when it's on your back, if your shield breaks it stuns you momentarily, probably a couple other things I'm forgetting.
@@SlamFisher weapons speed are not affected by shields. I've seen this on Reddit :
Holding a shield makes you move ~10% slower, placing it on your back negates this. It doesn't affect your weapon at all.
Some other bonuses:
Blocking costs less stamina
Wider area to successfully block attacks
Blocks all arrows in front of you when holding it up
Passively blocks arrows on your mid left side, or back when placed there
If you run out of stamina, you drop your shield first instead of your weapon
Can be thrown, then picked right back up
Downsides:
You move slower with your shield in hand
You can't throw your weapon with your shield in hand
Does not passively block melee attacks on your left side
Does not block head and legs from arrows when on your back
You get stunned when your shield breaks, giving enemy a free hit
Some weapons do extra damage to shields, turtling up against these weapons is bad
