I have the 2006 g35x sedan, it also had an inaccurate fuel gauge reading. All I did was put seafoam into the gas tank and it solved the problem. If the readings are really the result of a dirty gauge, then putting seafoam will fix it, you don’t even have to pull out the gauge
will try and lyk if it works
@@maasaii_did it work???
@@maasaii_well did it work ?
The root of the issue seems to be the solder inside the gauges. I have an inaccurate gas gauge and failing LEDs. There’s a walkthrough to reflow the solder that says it fixes both issues. But it involves pulling the needles and recalibrating the cluster once it’s all back together.
I just fill up every time and go by mileage now.
I do know there is a check engine code for that issue but defiantly worth a try.
I’d be fine w that but it throws code p0463 so it has my check engine light on
In the process of doing that to my car we’ll see if that fixes it
The climate control temperature module needs to be replaced or saudered
I cleaned the sending unit but the gas reads wrong still maybe the cluster is wrong because when I start my car either hot or cold the gas could shoot all the way up To full and then go back to half way full which is my gas normal level when I don’t fill up of course
hum that is interesting, good to know i will try fixing the cluster.
I cleaned the tracks of my floats with alcohol, before cleaning them my gauge indicated a full tank and over time it went down until reaching the actual gasoline level correctly (Or so I think) after cleaning my meter the tank remains full, do you think cleaning it with alcohol has affected it? Please help me
It has helped mine for sure. Mine was never that bad to start with but now my top half is pretty accurate and bottom half only play up sometime where as before was all the time.
99/100 times the cluster itself is the issue. The solder points are weak and lights become dim or non working, and fuel guage is very common to not work.
People replace fuel pumps and clean level sensors in the sending unit but that is never the issue. If the car starts the fuel pump is fine. Im going to remove my cluster soon and re solder some points and I think that will fix my issue
Did it fix it?
@@stephen29501 haven’t tried it yet.i still plan on doing it soon, but there are videos on CZcams I seen a guy show step by step cluster removal
And re soldering some points. That is 99.9% the fuel gauge issue. People change fuel pumps, clean level sensors, replace other stuff but it’s 99.9% likely the cluster itself getting old. They 20 years old. I have 2 g35s both fuel guages don’t read correctly and they both sometimes have dim turn signal lights when I’m turning. If I smack the cluster the light pops back up to being bright. This here tells me the cluster is old/weak connections inside the motherboard. I will let you know if I fix mine I will
Maybe do it this weekend
@@nbdxchance9010any updates? I’m looking into probably having to solder the gauge cluster as well as I saw videos on fixing the solution and prices to have it done are way too expensive. Lmk if you had any luck
@@jacobgtz272 I have not tried it yet sadly:( I will tho soon. I have 2 g35s both read incorrectly so I will definitely get to it. I will come back onto here and let you know if I fix it. You do the same
Please let us know when you fix it, having the same problem with my 05 g35 coupe. Every time I turn the car on the gauge reads a different level
I replace the fuel pump and sending unit. Now it reads full and wont go down. What else could it be if i replace both units???
that could be a cluster issue i think.
Is this the same for auto 05 sedans? Im in us.
yes all the same
1:08 I’m in the USA with a G35Coupe 6MT (LHD); I can confirm the fuel level sensor is on the same side as yours.
That is good to know! Thanks
(same model and transmission here) From what I’ve found we have 2 fuel pumps/sending units and I replaced the passenger side one… Are you referencing the drivers side unit? I’m trying to figure out if I should clean/replace the drivers side unit as well
