Once we are "cashless" there will be no choice.
If we don’t use cash, it will disappear. And then when everything is card/digital only, governments WILL be able to dictate what and how much you can spend your money on.
Example: the ‘climate emergency’ - the government will say your carbon emissions mean your flights are limited. That means you won’t be able to book all your trips because your payments will automatically be declined.
All these sort of things very easy for a controlling government to do, once cash has gone.

I heard some places prefer cash as the banks charge such high fees on card transactions.
And the saving is possibly reflected in the price you pay.
Also so they can misreport their earnings to the government and avoid higher taxes lol

I'd much rather see the small business man benefit from their own hard work, than the filthy rich world leaders and their rich mates benefiting from it.

Now you know what it feels like for those of us who want to pay cash,and are told card only,or even more specifically contactless only,which I don't have out of principle,only an"old fashioned" pin number card.I know you say you are all for choice,but going by previous vids,you always pay with your watch,never cash,so indirectly people who do so WILL lead to the death of cash,and therefore cede all privacy and choice of transactions to the government.

The charges for restaurant owners to accept cards is not really an issue when customers are paying for larger items such as meals and drinks. Cash only transactions in establishments that have large turnovers are often used simply as a way of 'cooking' the books. 🤨

When you pay by card, the card company charge the owner, so that means they are losing money, that's why people want cash.

To be fair, places that only take cash usually have a notice on the door to that effect, the India Gate certainly does! My friends have a bar there and it costs them to have a card machine. Often customers will pop to the ATM to get cash, they don't seem to mind! India Gate's food is lovely too!
Lee, I'm surprised that a man with your travel experience hasn't heard of the Manneken Pis in Brussels - the little boy peeing into the fountain. Obviously that shop has a link to Belgium. A pity that the Steak House was closed - my mouth was watering at the thought of that steak buffet.
There's also the lesser-known Jannekin pis in Brussels, which is hidden up an alley, and depicts a girl squatting to relieve herself :-O The restaurant area just off of the Grand' Place is rammed with different cuisines from all around the world and is well-worth a visit.

Oh Lee you should have given India Gate a go, it's an amazing curry house, we were so impressed we went twice in a week....you got to remember that cash is king in Benidorm, please try it when you go back 👍👍

You're get your preferred way to pay Lee when cash is gone and CBDC are forced on to everyone. Then they can switch it off for you if the powers that be don't like you. Choice will certainly be gone then. Currently you have the choice to go elsewhere for now.

@TheMacMaster What payment methods they accept is THEIR choice. At least they told you at the start, and not when you went to pay. And your choice is then to go elsewhere if you don't like it. But accepting cash only doesn't seem to be doing them any harm, else they wouldn't still be open.

Went to India gate two weeks ago gave the young waiter a big tip cos it was his birthday he then told me the restaurant was owned by an Indian family who employed Pakistani workers and there were cameras all over the place he asked me to be discreet when I gave him his birthday present needless to say not good.❤

Scammers can steal your credit card details by carrying a portable scanner & by standing next to you as well without you knowing it too. These days scammers are getting very creative on how to scam people.

With contactless payments a lot more can be stolen, than the amount of cash you carry. As happened to GeoffBuysCars recently.
My card will not work if it's not with me as it's location based. I can also cancel it online and also only load it with a certain amount of cash. REVOLUT!!! TOTAL CONTROL!

Hi Lee, another good video, this has made me watch some of the episodes of 'Benidorm'. As for premises accepting cash only, I disagree. I am now sadly disabled with severe mobility issues. I remain in my lovely flat with my cat and always order in and pay by debit card. I haven't even seen a pound note with the Kings head on it. Can't go wrong with a Scottish Indian in Benidorm, Tony Singh is a famous Scottish Indian chef.

I visited sherrys bar a couple of months ago. I was shocked when we went to pay they didn’t take card and there was no signs up anywhere.
With me only being a card only person I never have cash with me wherever I go. It would be nice to have a choice like you say.
I probably will not visit sherys bar again due to the fact that it’s cash only as I had to run up the hill to get cash out the machine and get ripped off.
Nice how you make perfect strangers feel comfortable and smile and have such a nice conversation. It is a talent few have. I think one of the troubles in finding places that people recommend is that their name for the place is different from the real place.
