Enjoy your vids…love a good rant BUT my grandchildren live in London, near a major road. Sometimes their local air quality is really bad and would be a lot better if more cars passing by were EV’s. For long journeys, an EV is inconvenient but city pollution would be much better if more were driven in the cities. Try shutting yourself in a closed garage with an ICE car running, see how you fare…with an EV no problem at all.

Hi Lee, long time subscriber here and always thought that I would never buy an electric car, however until I drove one I couldn't be sure. Well on a recent trip to Vegas from UK I was given an EV by the hire car company. I begged them for a gas vehicle but this would cost $40 per day extra! I ended up with a KIA Niro which was fine to drive but even in Vegas the charging infrastructure just isn't there. I had originally planned to drive to Death Valley but quickly realised that with the limited range I would have to charge up x2 times to get there so I couldn't go. As soon as I put AC on (48 degrees over there) the range dropped by about 80 miles lol. Went to a mall to charge, only 2 available and one did not work. After 2 hours of charging it only went up by 5% and est charge time to full stated 18 hours! Another major issue when renting an EV in the States is that the contactless payment does not accept UK credit cards. It says to download the app to pay to charge however the Play Store does not allow you to download the app being from the UK! I had to search around for Electrify America as they had chip & pin thankfully. But even there 2 out of the 5 were not working and I had to wait for over an hour for one to become available....this was at 05:00am too! Would I buy an EV after that experience?....NEVER

My personal EV experience has been nothing but joy - then again my advantages are:
    1. I Live in Australia where for the most part EV's like the climate
    2. I have a detached home with a 3-phase charger
    3. The overnight electricity rate is $0.08 / 4p per kwh
    4. I have home solar
    5. I drive a Tesla
    6. Insurance in Australia is no more expensive than any other car
I average 5.7 miles per kwh lifetime and 6.7 miles per kwh in summer.
Superchargers are simply plug and play - never encountered a faulty one - never failed to instantly connect and charge. The most I have paid is $0.66 / 34p per kwh.
After 22k miles in 16 months I have spent $120 / 60 pounds on supercharging for a 1200 mile trip and $320 / 160 pounds for home charging - that's it - total. $0 on services, $0 tyres, $0 brakes and my battery has degraded 0.8% from where it was 12 months ago. The 1200 miles trip in the EV was not only cheaper but faster than my previous ICE car.
I have saved at least 50-60 trips to a petrol station, 7-8 hours of my life not filling my car and at least $5000 in petrol and receive $4000 in tax benefit every year v an ICE car from my government, what's not to love about EVs?

You know your charge time is always longer because you always charge to nearly 100% and you know it takes almost as long to charge from 80% to 100% as it does to charge from 20% - 80%. You also know that you wear out your battery much sooner by charging it to 100% every time. People who only charge to 80% will not lose battery performance as fast as the people that charge to 100% every time. Also, you didn't follow your own advice about charging. Always use the car's navigation system which not only conditions the battery for charging but also directs you to a less busy charger that is on the Porsche network.
As far as the cost of electricity, here in the states, with the implementation of alternative energy now powering the grid and the incentives from the government, our electricity costs have gone down not up.
As a reminder about the EMF meter. It's pure hogwash. If the radiation produced by those power lines was harmful, how is it that the trees, grass and plants thrive all throughout where those lines run? As I previously stated, an MRI is 75000 on that scale where your EMF meter showed what, 50 as it's peak? Pure nonsense.

37:11. With the chargers being below the pylons you can’t measure them because the field from the pylons will mask over the top of anything they are emitting.
It Would be interesting to see the results around some chargers where there are not any pylons around to contaminate any readings.
Over the last 40 years I have installed over 300 x 11,000volt ground mounted substations and none of them register hardly anything on these meters.
These ground mounted substations contain metal clad switchgear so all of the wiring inside the switchgear is screened by the steel,
And the underground cables in the ground are screened by their earthing and armouring wires that wrap around the cable.
[The reason the pylons give off the electromagnetic fields is because the overhead line cables are exposed and open to the air.]
It would be interesting to measure the charging stations because I have no idea what screening their equipment has [if any].
Earlier this year I had a resident who had moved into a new housing estate [where I built all of the electric mains feeding into and around the new estate] come up to me when I opened up the substation that I had installed,
She wanted to know where all of the cables are that are in the ground, do they run past her house and what’s all that inside the substation.
[she had started up a local campaign group to demand knowledge over what damage these electromagnetic fields are doing to us without our knowledge]
Ever since she moved in 6 months ago she was getting all upset about not knowing where the cables are near her house and was extremely suspicious of the brick building that contains the electrical substation.
Outside the substation where she was standing there are 2 x 11,000volt cables and 6 x 440volt cables buried in the ground under the footpath beneath her feet, so she measured the floor and got nothing.
I invited her into the substation but she was too scared to come, in so held her meter against one of the 11,000 volt cables where it rose up exposed out of the ground and again got nothing. [it;s a small sub and she could see the results screen of the meter from the doorway]
I then held her meter within 6 inches of the main tank of the 11,000volt transformer and again got nothing.
She asked my opinion over ‘the emissions’ from these substations to which i said I wouldn’t have a problem with one of these being at the bottom of my garden but i would not want one the other side of the wall outside my bedroom.

Here in Australia the insurance cost for a EV in our area which is considered safe is $3000 AUD per year but in the city areas of Melbourne or Sydney it costs $5000 AUD per year .
Then you also will need a home charger , the cheapest one I saw was $2500 AUD then there’s a permit required from the council to install one and the electricians cost for the installation .
Another factor that adds onto the cost is your house and contents insurance goes up as well because you have a EV in the driveway and some insurance companies won’t allow you to charge a EV indoors .
At an extra $7500 AUD the first year and a extra $3000 AUD for every year thereafter ( Which will inevitably go up ) I’ll stick with my petrol 6 cylinder Ford XR6 Ute , the extra costs not to mention aggravation of owning a EV doesn’t add up .

A MAJOR oversight in the list of EV problems. A car with a battery big enough to deliver a decent range has INCREASED life time carbon emissions. The emissions incurred in mining and refining the battery materials mean the vehicle comes off the production line with a huge carbon footprint that will not be recouped. BEV's ARE NOT GREEN!

@@richarddoherty5987 nice video thanks for sharing. The problem with the calculations in the video is that they assume the two thirds of the electricity is generated from non renewable sources, with most of that being coal. That just isn't the case in the UK (using that as it's where Macmaster lives), where 47% of energy came from renewables in 2023 and the non-renewable energy came mostly from Nuclear and Gas which both have lower emissions than coal. In fact the last coal station in the UK is about to be shut down so it is virtually impossible that any electricity in the UK will come from coal now.
Additionally he didn't show the calculations around the CO2 emissions from the Petrol/Diesel car, so it's unclear if he took into account the energy needed to refine the fuel or whether he was just counting emissions from the exhaust.
As he says at the end, electric vehicles are better for the environment once the energy mix is cleaner. It just so happens that in the UK that happened far quicker than he was counting.

@@richarddoherty5987 it was you that was making the point that "EV's are not green". It appears that the evidence you were using to back that doesn't really stand up in countries that have a decent amount of renewable power in their power grid and/or countries that have reduced power production from coal (the UK being a good example of that).
That is without getting into the local benefits if the vehicles are driven in urban areas where swapping Petrol/Diesel vehicles for electric helps improve the air quality.

Regarding the designs of the new Capri, Mustang... If the modern version of vehicles retained the old-school generic halogen lamps up front, it would be much better. I can't stand the LED glow. Yes, you can see more, but that is for off-pavement driving. The modern lamps cast horrible shadows, and give you a false sense of security. They blind on-coming traffic, especially when lenses need to be replaced, or the lenses are dirty, or when the windscreen on the on-coming car is scratched from the wipers, is coated in rain or snow, or is pitted from freeway sand-blasting, or just dirty, visibility is compromised. The new headlamps cast too many lumens. The old-school generic halogens are glass, which are easily replaced. I got mine from the hardware store. We need to drive slower in conditions with low-visibility when you are not on the freeway. Respect the fact that some people see starbursts because of aged vision. I realize that halogens use more power, but, it is a better color, and better broacast of light. Perhaps LEDs make a good day time running-lamp, just not at night. The new vehicles always have a strange look in the front - 'angry eyes.' Don't get me started on the modern wheel designs; these are cars, must everything have a flashy-look, like we are only using cars to go to the nightclub?

Good Morning Lee. I do have the same problem with my Mobile Telephone. Like all Batteries, they suffer from the dreaded DEGRIDATION!!!!!!!, The amount of times you Charge your Battery, it loses the Ability to hold the charge in the Cells of the Battery. I am on 4G, sometimes my signal weakens or I lose the Network Connection. I am Afraid, that the Nation has been Brainwashed, into thinking, that getting an EV, was for Greater Good. It created this Cult of Passionate EV owners. I absolutely agree and Support your Message Lee, of Do Not get an EV. You must Keep your Petrol or Diesel vehicle for as long as You can my Friends. We should all stand together and Tell the Government, No we do Not want Your No fit for Purpose EV's. Thank you very much for Listening to my Words of Common Sense..

All new cars are wider, nothing to do with being an EV, it is NCAP testing for side impact protection scores, which, as you know are aced by EVs because of their battery packs! I have personally saved over £13,500 not buying petrol driving EVs for over seven years. The secret? Charge at home and Don't buy a top of the range new Porche but a sensible USED EV, many people have reached the same conclusion and recent sales of used EVs have set records. If you had been following that smoky Land rover in a Tesla you could have switched on the Bio defence mode to cut out the fumes!

31 15 Most UK homes have a single phase domestic supply at 230 to240 volt fused at 100 Amp on the incomer eg 24 KWH so theoretically if your charger was around 7 KWH then two cars would draw 14 KWH if you had two chargers, leaving around 10 KWH for the rest of the house, so if someone was using a 12 KW power shower then your mains fuse will heat up, not necessarily blow at 2 KW overload, but would be getting rather hot.
Ok a shower is a short duration but it still puts a strain on the incoming fuse.😎
    Gaz Yorkshire.

Even Volvo admit an EV has to cover at least 60,000 miles before it is as clean as a modern ICE cae. Until then the EV is dirtier
