Those wheels look really nice. They were lots of work, but in the end I’d say it’s paid off.
Looks really nice ! Simple, affordable upgrades! Not too aggressive, not too low, and that diesel engine is one of the most reliable trouble free, cheap and easy to maintain, they last foreeeeeeveeeeer !
Thank you very much!! Im starting to really love this car! First turbo diesel in the fleet. Lots of smaller upgrades to come down the road but loving the progress so far!! Thanks for the comments and appreciate the watch!! Cheers
There is a special spot in my heart for the Mk1 Jettta. It is best for it's future to be in your hands, I look forward to the progress! Cheers!
Thank you very much! I appreciate the comments and yes lots more in store and some fun drives!! Thanks for watching! appreciate all your support!! Cheers
I had an 81 the same color. It was a normally aspirated diesel that i put 83 GTI wheels on it. Yours bringd bsvk fond memories, really enjoying your videos !
I don't own a vw now but the end result on the Jetta is clean. Good job man..
Now you have to remove all the glass. Silicone all the rubber. Fix all the rust underneath the rubber seals that's hidden. Tint the windows with 5% limo tent. But the rubber back on and reinstall the glass. And what I always do is pull out the window regulators and find as close to match as I can with power version window regulators and put in a set of power window switches. They make a wiring kit. In my Audi box I found that Ford F-150 window regulators and tracks for the best way to go and a two switch kit mounting the switches into the dash so I don't have to bother with put it running wires in out of the door panels. And then a cup holder over each window crank hole. Then what people get in the car they're like wow power windows. Even the sunroof I found an Audi 4000 electric motor would Mount up in place and get rid of that crank handle in the ceiling and have a switch on the dash. All three for $250.
Like the simple original looking mods 👍🏻
Thank you i appreciate that!! Car is certainly coming along, lots more to come! Thank you very much for watching, I appreciate the comments, Cheers!!
Should make your own weighted shift rod for that setup. Would be a nice addition. Also, car looks damn amazing !!
I should actually, great idea!! Thanks for watching and appreciate the comments as always!! Cheers
Great work on the wheels. With so many positive comments and no thumbs down i feel like an (donkey) for writing something negative. Google aluminium stainless steel galvanic corrosion. Removing the treads and use a dab of glue might work so there is no metal to metal connection.
Hey dont worry about it!! Thank you, i appreciate the info!! Ill take a look for sure! Thanks for the comments and appreciate the watch!! Cheers
I'm not normally a fan of wheels painted to match the body, but this works beautifully - you did a fantastic job! Worth every minute you spent restoring them. I also like the stance of the car. It's low, but it's not absurd. You may gets some bottoming-out on harsh roads or extreme front wheel angles. Just firm up the spring rates and you'll be fine. Again - looks great!
BTW - I have a Mk1 VW Jetta as well. Go on Imgur and search for "1984 VW Jetta coupe Gli" for pics. I look forward to seeing future videos. Cheers!
Thank you so much!! Really appreciate that! It will only keep getting better too, that i promise!! Appreciate the comments and Thanks so much for watching!! Cheers!!
Spot on with the wheels 👍🏻 I wasn’t convinced on those wheels at first but u nailed it my friend 👍🏻the Jetta looks really good. The color matching was a good idea. The Jetta is looking really good. Can’t wait to see what other ideas u have for it.
Thank you!! Ya it was a gamble ill admit that... Had a vision, closed my eyes and went for it!! Glad it turned out!! Thanks for the comments, i truly appreciate it!! And thanks so much for all your support!! Cheers!!
Nice work! I'm crazy, I kind of like the old mechanical shift linkage on 020s. When you rebuild one you (shifter box too!) you feel accomplished! It is a puzzle.
Hahaha very true!! They are also easy to understand when you take your time, and cool that they can be modified like this, not alot of shifter mods exist like this. Thanks for the comments and appreciate the watch, Cheers!!
instablaster.
Love what you have done to this car look great and made a big difference.😀
Thank you very much!! Truly appreciate it! Thanks for watching! Cheers!!

That Jetta is looking sweet bro. And what's with the top secret-James-Bond-MI6-CIA-Area51 paint job 😬, but she is looking 🔥🔥, and thanks for the info on the short change, I did not know it was that easy to do. Keep going strong bro. Next stop, Wednesday
Thank you thank you! hahaha Well i wanted to show the steps but not give away the reveal too early so i just fogged the screen, kept the wheel colour secret to make the reveal scene more impactful. Ya the short throw is fair simple for sure, highly recommend! Thanks so much for the comments, appreciate the watch!! Cheers
Looking good!
Thank you, thank you!!! Appreciate the watch and thanks for the comments!!
Looks Zuper! Great job on the wheels.
Thank you very much! Quite happy with it!! Now i really want to cruise it around a bunch, but rear bumper and trim first and we are ready to go!! Thanks for watching and i appreciate the comments, thank you!!
Wow! That thing looks awesome! Job well done. I hope you got a sweet deal on that steering wheel, they are so crazy expensive lately
Right??? ya i stole it from another car i have for now, swapped wheels. These things pull a premium these days, have to hold on to it for my retirement fund lol!! Thanks for the comments, appreciate it very much! Cheers
@Torin Mohammed go put your scam elsewhere!
@Daniel Madden piss off!
Mk1 looks great man just enjoy it
I absolutely will!! Thanks for the comments and i appreciate the watch!! Cheers!!
Those wheels fit like they were meant to be! Cant wait to see it out at local vw events this summer if we have them
Hahaha Thank you! And we will, I'm sure of it! I cant wait to get this car out on the road some more! Going to be a good summer!! Thanks for the comments, Cheers!!
excellent work as always!
Thank you so much!! Truly appreciate the support! Cheers!!
Looks amazing 👌🏼 awesome job man!!!!
Thank you, thank you!! Appreciate your support! Thanks for watching!
Nice upgrades. Wheels came out superb for reps. My mk1 is lowered on BC coils and even on soft settings they are still stiff. I just ordered a set of strut tower extenders from CKW2 with the strut bar. Should make a difference in the ride harshness.
Keep the vids coming ✌✌
Hahaha funny you say that, literally driving this out of my garage the rears were so stiff i almost broke my neck lol, have to see how this plays out! might be able to get away with refreshed factory gear in the back instead, not sure there is a huge Hight difference back there. even just a lowering spring on new struts would work too! Thanks for the comments as always, appreciate the watch!! Cheers
Looks fantastic 👍
Thank you!! Thanks for watching too! Appreciate the comment, cheers!!

Looks like my 84 td Jetta, but urs is coming along way faster lol. 🤙🏼
hahaha Appreciate it!! Thanks so much for watching and cheers for the comments!!
What a difference. Looks awesome the rims look amazing alot of work but well worth it I once polished a set of tear drop rims on my mk2 Jetta and it was a lot of work. Great episode keep up the great work
Thank you!! I really appreciate that!! Oh man, polishing factory cleared wheels is a TON of work! Im sure well worth it though!! Thanks for the comments and appreciate the watch, Thank you!!

@@MysteryGarage I really love what you do. Not much quality Mk1 content on here especially Canadian. And I absolutely meant when I said being a cool retro daily, if anyone can pull it of is you guys in B.C.Again keep up the awesome work. Am still hunting for mine, in meantime my Mk5 Gti keeps me occupied somewhat.
Wow,this is such a nice looking jetta. Are you going to short rear bumper as same as front bumper?
Thank you!! Yes absolutely! as well as freshen up all of the other black trim! Appreciate the comments and thanks for watching!!
Looks way better. So glad the wheels aren't gold! lol Would the deep lip spoiler from the Caddy fit on it?
Thank you!! Caddy has a duck bill spoiler, thinking about going a different route with the jetta if i can find what im looking for within budget but stay tuned for that!! Thanks so much for the comments and appreciate the watch!! Cheers!!
Amazing job 👍🏿. Any tips on dealing with rust in awkward places like the inner bootlid?
ahh man, i wish there was... stuff like that can be tedious! Honestly if its more that a few hours of work and the part is removeable, i would check your marketplace for a non rusty replacement... Could save you hours and alot of hassle for probably not a crazy amount of money. But if that isn't an option, remove the boot and get to work... take your time... and you got this!! Thanks for watching and i appreciate the comments thank you!!
@@MysteryGarage thank you
Can you share the link for the steering wheel you used?
Hey man any advice on what to do when heating isn't working in mk1 jetta?
Could be a lot of things, send me a dm on Instagram @mk1build or at www.MysteryGarageshop.com and we can chat about it! Love to help out!! Thanks for watching and appreciate the comments!! Cheers!!
When do we get to see you rip this thing!
Soon soon! New gear for in car footage has been ordered, my current setup is was too blurry and bouncy, makes terrible action footage. Looking forward to pushing my filming too! Lots to come i promise! Cheers!!
