- The Bonkers Swiss Stol Rocket arrives in MSFS, Phase 1 of Milviz's porter package provides (sorry) a modern rendition of the aircraft made by Pilatus, with plans for a free upgrade phase 2 for existing customers (higher overall price for customers later) with steam gauges, floats and tundra tires coming soon!

Oh oh. That is a proper sky tractor. Though i really do not like turboprops all that much, but hnnnng this does look very nice. Like a good plane to use with NeoFly
I bought it, and really love it! The built in checklists are awesome actually. And remember to disable Airframe and Engine stress under Accessibility so you can open the doors in flight.
I never have those on because they're so wiffed... just eh.
always kept them off since the C208 overstressed in straight flight with speed in the yellow arc... very badly implemented.
Use of the reverser in flight is not allowed! To go into beta range:
- fly straight and level at less than 100knots. 80-90 is best
- throttle to idle. Watch your RPMs
- when the RPM start dropping sharply, so will your nose. The plane will nose down by itself.
- manage descent, aim for a maximum of -4000 fpm, while keeping your speed below 100 knots. Add some flaps for controllability.
There, done, that's a beta descent. When you're done, power up again, the blade pitch will leave beta auomatically.
DO NOT touch reverse in flight.
That looks so much fun! I love that I could do clandestine airdrops, that will be awesome to play with.

The Trapdoor could be useful in case of annoying passengers. Nice plane and video. Can't wait for a Twin Otter for Flight Simulator.
Once this is available in the ingame store im going to buy it instantly, im a Pilatus Aircraft fan (im swiss, so im heavily bias'd) and i want every one of them, mostly the PC-21 but i think its a long time until we get that in the sim
Fair review. My only concern was that the initial release was Glass only, and that the glass didn't play well with the NXI GPS. ( which, face it if you are a fan of Glass you far more likely to be using. )
Yeah, its quite true, the final one will have NXi full support, right now its not due to customisation on the actual engine side of the display. I too prefer the steam but hey for now it works right?

It's a fair addon,but it's the DRM they use that bothers me,having a service running 24/7.
Performance impact is nothing on it and you’d be surprised how many games do it
Bush League Legends made a performance mod for the Asobo Porter and it really improves the stock version of the plane.

I just joined the Milviz Porter Owners Club and already love it! Waited to see what the free Asobo version would be like, but that one felt really unfinished. With the current Milviz version, the G1000 NXi works great, and what an amazing piece of software this NXi is. Surely looking forward to the steam gauges, but I'm having more fun with the glass cockpit than I ever thought I would ...
GotGravel have started a massive upgrade project on the asobo one, will be showing that soon.
Late to the party but at 06:04 did that ground handler just 'dab'? :) LMAO never seen that in the sim..
With all the fuss surrounding update 6 I only just noticed that MS announced the "Game of the Year" edition which includes ( among other things ) a PC-6 Porter. I have no idea if Asobo developed one internally, or if they worked out a deal with Milviz?
I mean I guess it's nice that we get a version that will just be updated via the sim, because I'm not a fan of the practice of only getting email update notifications as they just get lost in the sea of spam.
Even if it's not some kind of deal and Asobo did their own I worry that the developer might just drop support as I can't image it's easy to compete with "FREE". Hopefully we actually get our money's worth from the purchase :/

After how the developer has responded, or didnt more like, to people who own this products concerns about DRM. Includes folks who payed and can't download, I'd never buy from MilVis.
Basically told customers to their face they don't care and treating everyone like criminals. Folks issue isn't the DRM but how it's being done and if a dev goes in the attack rather than deals with genuine, reasonably presented concerns about the product and support, I think they are no different to snake oil salesmen.
Plus the stages thing.. to me this whole product page is a huge red flag.
I'm just glad another dev team are making one, that have been totally transparent and engaging with the community, taking their time to release a quality product and promised to not use invasive software.
With how much products are stolen atm, even community ones like the GeeBee... Honestly DRM is something in most modern games. The method yeah... not ideal, but people also have heavily attacked them.
The product you get is sound tbh, the stages thing is simply 'other versions come later free if you buy it now, or you can wait and pay more' its not a beta, its a finalised version and it is very nice.
I however will not enter politics in the FS community, It's the most toxic part of us.
@@AvAngel I totally understand however study after study shows pirates don't buy so it's not lost money anywhere near that of those of us who have genuine privacy concerns. I don't think people were attacking, just raising their concern but also then being offended at being called criminals and that support won't even be offered.
The issue though isn't DRM, it's how it's implemented but also the attitude of the developer. If he showed any sort of mutual respect I may have looked passed the red flags but personally I will never support a dev who ignores the reality while attacking potential customers.
I'd not call this politics myself as its genuine product concern and with the support. Obviously though everyone has their right to their view. Though I struggle to see how makes sense when so many are now refusing to use Milvis. That's possibly thousands not a hundred lost or two like may have from not using DRM, which will be broken as DRM always gets broken so that's only sales from a small, Impatient few who can't wait for the broken version. I wish this wasn't an issue truly but given we are PC simulators our computers health should be taken as seriously as a planes would.
You can buy it from the ingame store a bit later, without Milviz DRM.

Was expecting this video soon but that was very quick of you! For take off, as per the manual, you need to set rudder trim to fill right and engage the tail wheel lock (shift+g). Reverse is not permitted in flight either, but you’ll go into beta with airspeed below 100 kts indicated.

Great aircraft! Really well modelled and textured, it looks fantastic and the sounds are really amazing. They’ve done such a good job on this aircraft, though I do agree with you Rachael, why release it when it’s not fully finished (steam gauges etc)
I always thought this was one interesting looking aircraft (nice Katherine’s term for ugly) but it’s performance and flight ability have made it a legend. Along with some less than savoury CIA involvement but cough cough never mind. This aircraft inspired quite a few kit plane knock offs or tributes depending on your point of view (the compair 7 and up springs to mind) but it’s a plane I always wanted to fly because of its dynamic performance and it looks like they got that right as well.
I love watching your videos Rachael but every good plane you bring us makes me hate my old potato more and more lol

I like the visual representation of cargo amounts and the random passenger weight.

Well she’s a legend as is, lots of tail draggers in the sim I know but bush planes tend to prefer it for abilities, you’ll likely love the kodiak then that’s a trike and faster
Really nice aircraft, but I have one problem with it. Sometimes the autopilot turns on automatically, and when I turn it off it turns back on again all the time. I've never had this problem with other aircraft. What can I do?
Not sure I've come across that issue, it may be a controller map issue?
Am I the only one who thought the plane looked a bit like Pinocchio? It does seem to have an almighty nose on it though. However saying that it does look good, and I like how you have the ability to yeet the doors should you want to

External programming for turboprop simulation is milviz mo so I suspect this is too, certainly doesn’t behave like other default ships
I bought the plane AvAngel and absolutely love it. Milviz did a fantastic job with that plane, very fun to fly and will be even more so after the update, highly recommended. Love your review, the only thing missing was Russian accent!

I cannot get the thing to throttle up when the throttle lever is pushed. Condition lever at high idle, prop forward, but when I move the throttle lever the engine doesn’t respond. Can someone here in the comments please help?
Might be a controller issue, not something I've seen myself? is the engine actually running properly? or is it at all times even a runway start with engine lit?
@@AvAngel if I start the flight airborne, it operates perfectly normally, but if I start on the ground it won’t throttle up. It ONLY happens in the porter, but oddly it happens in both the Milviz and the Asobo one. I think it’s because they actually share much of the same files and makeup.
@@AvAngel Also, the throttle lever moves in the aircraft, just no response from the engine.
I have the problem at the landing the aircraft deviated to the right and often veered off the runway. When I correct it goes completely to the left. I need really to trim rudder it for correct this problem and/or have less power at the landing?
perhaps less power, and less power changes I don't get any real movement on landing. Do make sure the tail wheel lock (down on your left) is on for takeoff and landing.
Looks wery good but that Garmin G1000 cannot be seen. There are no Pilatus Porter equipped with them. Never seen one.
Not true, the last models produced from 2010 on had the option and google has thousands of photos of them. They do exist.. however I too wait for the steam gauge version :D
So I just got this and you mention the slis are fixed. The wheels are suppose yo be on the ground? That almost feels wrong. But idk if that's by design by porter.
It depends on where you're landing, in many cases these skiis are meant for softer snow where the wheel tip will just cut a groove while the skii takes the weight of the aircraft.

Is this the same plane as used in the opening sequence from GoldenEye? (the jump off the cliff to get into the plane stunt). It looks similar. It may have also been used by Air America (IRL and the movie) - so pretending to to do drug running in it is historically accurate.

I really really want to love this aircraft, even though it is ugly as and looks like it was built by a committee using spare parts from a variety of scrap aircraft (especially that weird tailplane). But it does look fun to use so I might fall for it given the price is fair.
It's practical... its a tractor with wings :D and it's just nuts to fly.

These phases had better be damn cheap then, since it seems you're implying they're expecting you to pay for what amounts to variants/patches. Which seems incredibly greedy.
No they're not. If you buy it NOW, this is all you pay as I said, the update is free IF you buy Phase 1... its more expensive if you wait till its 'complete' with phase 2.
@@AvAngel Its only two phases? I had seen somewhere else say there were going to be like three or four.
@@shinkicker404 only mentions a stage 2 on the product page with that as has been said free for stage 1 buyers. The main thing that bothers me is the program in the background for the DRM.

Not my kind of craft... I dont like glass avionics but also for some reasons, well this doesnt appel to me. Its not thé turboprop its maybe the overall design. I know its an excellent aircraft IRL, but still.. Give me a An-2, or à Beaver, or even an Otter....

Prop animation is garbage,why make a strobe effect,when the human eye sees none,the human eye is not a camera.....
