    Hmm I’m not sure if I follow your assessment of the exterior and interior modeling work as “not bad” or “decent”. To me, this $15 plane’s model is almost impeccable, definitely better than most of aircraft whose price tag is 2x or 3x of it

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  Před 2 lety +10

      True, but there are some bits that are better than others perhaps, but overall yeah, its pretty good... I just dont want to froth over it either.

      @Meaphil Před 2 lety +26

      Completely agree, appreciate the quick overview but I definitely feel like there is lack of knowledge here. The model detail is next level and for this amount of money. Definitely feel like you are unfair in the review, not sure what you compare the model to saying its "not bad" or "decent". Rushed? Maybe but then point out the issues? Your not actually mentioning what's wrong, I mean you say you don't even know and can't judge it so don't then?... Sry review just feels insincere.

    • @realakp
      @realakp Před 2 lety +4

      I agree. I haven't had a chance to see the model in-game yet, but I can already see from the video that this one outclasses most models from paid mods. And as a 3D graphic designer I pay a lot of attention to modelling and texturing. I think that fair number of much more expensive products, are often full of bugs in UV mapping, mesh geometry, low quality textures, poor animations etc.

      I think it is indeed "not bad" or "decent". Most other payware planes for MSFS are just pure cash grabs, making this one of the best available, but not the best possible.

    I picked it up last night. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, which for me is big because I am noooooot an airliner guy in the least.

    Now that's what I call a "glass cockpit"! :) Very nice light and airy feel for a plane that size, although probably a liability in warmer sunnier climates. Weird that it would default to an emptier load than we're used to, but could be worse I guess. Still on the fence about buying it, I'll probably wait and see how the upcoming DC-3 and Lockheed Electra compare, but it definitely has a unique charm and isn't as heavy or complicated as the DC-6.

An airworthy Ju 52 used to fly over Munich for scenic flights in the summer until a few years ago, starting and landing in Oberschleißheim (EDNX). @@AvAngel well, to be honest, we can't really expect good flight dynamics by Asobo Studios right? I mean, there are many planes with some buggered flight dynamics even a whole year later. To their credit, they do seem to be working on it, but you'd expect better from them, ESPECIALLY when you pay extra for premium content. SR22 comes to mind. Took them a year to address the unrealistic flight dynamics.

    • @ravenn22
      @ravenn22 Před 2 lety

      @@indianboy0453 While there's a ways to go with all the default flight models ( some better than others ) - I feel the default weight and balance settings are way too light across the board - which really affects how the plane feels. For what's concerning the 3D model Asobo aircrafts are stunning. Of course not difficult to fly ( the target is the casual simmer) but the cockpit is really like that of today's Junkers that fly here in Switzerland. I have seen them many times and they were gorgeus. Unfortunatly two years ago one crashed flying too low over the Alps killing about 20 people. I was the last person that spoke with pilots and passengers before take off that day, unfortunatly. It was a wery hot day.

    I have been looking forward for this airplane for a while now, and obviously watched your video first, for its price its good, a few little tweaks needed i feel its under powered with very slow climb rate and the engine noise levels do need updating as i have to turn up my headphone volume a lot to hear it.
    however for visuals its beautiful. love the old school aircraft. somethings i still need to work out is tuning into a VOR, i can tune the Nav radio but the needles don't seem to pick up the VOR beacon.
    I do like this, and like yourself feel its underpowered for an aircraft with 3 engines. i think its worth a 7 / 10 at least for beautiful looking plane and most functions seem to work.
    don't think its designed for cold weather as i don't see any heat options and that outer skin panel is seen on the inside with no insulation.
    after a few patches this will be a gem to fly.

    I liked the “unfinished” rating for this product. Feels lovely in many aspects but short on several others. Flight model seems simplified. It feels a little unpolished on technical side of things. Good product for the price. Very beautiful modeling, texturing and eye candy but lacks in terms of complexity. I may say something wrong but it looks like Asobo does not want to go deeper in development. There’s a virtual limit to their planes in the way they need to be enjoyable for non core simmers and Xbox users maybe? I don’t know but one thing that comes to my mind is that the USD 15 tag is about right and tells a lot on the value of this plane.

On the other hand, I think this Junkers has nicer modeling in many of the non-cockpit areas than the DC-6 and I'm ok with the flight model for the price. Hey Angel, thank you very much for the review. In many aspects I sadly don't agree with you. I saw this bird in real life and It looks as in the simulator. It is for sure an ugly beast. But a famous plane. One of the first full metal planes. The interior and the model is very well done for only 12 pounds and you get 4 variants. The lack of skins is understandable. No one really want to see swastikas in the air anymore.
    The sounds are as in real life. This thing flew often around EDDL in the past. The engine sounds are on par.
    I agree with you that the internal sounds maybe a bit quiet.
    Regarding the flight model I think it is reasonable good. This plane has big wings and the specific uplift. It is and was a sluggish beast.
    I am very satisfied with Tante Ju. There are a few things that could be better but there are always things that could be better you know😉
    Anyway thank you for your good work regarding your channel and take care.

    I think it's one of the first real STOL aircrafts. I m not a pilot but I heard and watched many stories about this plane. Of cause - unfortunally - it is also used as a military aircraft. There has been told many stories about flying in and out soldiers from Stalingrad even almost a wing missed or a gear is missing. So it seems to be realistic that that this plane forgives a lot . Ive flown this in simulator today and it feels good to fly- maybe a strange feeling because it is slow but also not very small. I dont know what is the stall speed?

  • @ukmaxi
    @ukmaxi Před 2 lety

    The modelling is amazing, especially when you go into the nooks and crannies, bearing in mind the Asobo aircraft models are built from full 3D scans of exterior and interior. Also, interesting thing to note about the JU-52 is that is does have a ridiculously low stall speed (~44kts typically) hence why it's so easy for it to lift. Although, as with anything, fine tuning will probably be needed in the aircraft's flight.cfg file.
    Not sure why you think it's "rushed" either or where you base that intuition on. Nothing wrong with speculating, however, there is no real evidence to back said speculation up.

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  Před 2 lety

      The modeling is lovely, the feel of it isn't perhaps? The speed is low as you say, but the cg feels a bit odd, and the tail takes a century to come down, but it can lift way lower than its stall speed. The behavior feels like a mushy cessna, whether that's realistic or not, I'm not sure, but I will say that the engine sounds are way too low overall, and there's a bit lacking in animations like the engines. They're minor gripes, but likely things that can be tweaked.
      I can't put my finger on it, but the flight model feels off... I guess years of simming I've never felt anything like it... very very easy and more lift than I've ever felt... but little power.

    From glancing at the titles on other CZcams videos there are an awful lot of fan boys for this aircraft so I may get shouted at but here goes
    For the price it’s decent and if you are a fan of the aircraft it’s worth it. I’m not a fan, I’ve flown a WWII Junkers and wasn’t impressed. It’s an underpowered brick that feels like a flying green house in the cockpit with the corrugated sides and framed in glass. She’s also not a great handling aircraft when compared to the allied aircraft of a similar role and age.
    So my general dislike for the real thing aside what do I think of this mod. Well for once I’m not just basing this on Rachael’s video as a very excited friend bought their laptop in to hospital for me to see it and have a go.
    The textures, well everyone’s raving about how perfect they are and, well, there not. From a distance they look pretty good but up close they look medium definition and flat. There ok there decent they certainly are a long long way from perfect
    The sounds, well they are too goddess damn quiet, far to quiet. Those BMW radials are LOUD and I mean seriously LOUD and on this there just so quiet, so, so quiet
    I had a go at flying this thing and oh boy, she leaps off the runway in a frankly completely unrealistic way whether loaded or not. The real thing is good at taking off for its era but bear in mind it’s era is WWII. She needs to be coaxed into the air, she’s an aircraft that once up does a good job of wanting to stay up as long as you give her power but she’s not exactly nimble compared to other similar aged aircraft in her size class and in the sim banks way to nicely, way to cleanly.
    I’m sorry but this just feels like it was rushed out the door with average textures, decent modelling, crap sounds and awful flight realism
    Rachael’s rating was generous, 4/10
    Love you Rachael and sorry I’m trying to catch up with your vids 😘

    The aircraft has been modeled with millimeter accuracy and it's "decent" and "not bad"? 🙂 Asobos's planes, in my opinion, are generally a cut above the third-party products which are not only more expensive but uglier and more buggy. Most developers just import their FSX things, put "PBR" in the description and that's it. This plane on the other hand is not only utterly beautiful but works well, too. We will probably never see "perfect" aircraft in any simulator as they're called real simulators and cost millions of dollars. What we get here (and for how much) is a great deal in the marketplace. Not to mention they will keep updating it unlike some third-party developers. I have much more confidence in buying Asobo content than unpredictable third-party products.
