    Im kinda glad I decided to buy one, considering this RC is basically a prebuilt kit car.

      @Funcentric out of curiosity do you know if the reciever/esc combo supports a larger motor? Or should I just plan on an eventual overhaul in the case of system damage?

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Před 4 měsíci

      @@Grimmance I would not advise putting a larger KV motor with the existing ESC combo. You can use a physically larger one if it'll fit. The advantage of that will be that it can dissipate heat better. Overall though, HBX are excellent well supported budget RC's to be used out of the box w/o modding. If you want to mod, I'd go up to a pricier 1/10 scale car.
      I don't know if you've seen my other videos, but a 1/10 scale car with budget components will be poorer in performance. Ones with legitimate components will be much heavier and the weight alone can hurt itself so it requires a much more disciplined driver. 1/16 scale is perfect for reliability for casual driving. Getting into anything more serious requires a big jump in $$$$. Like 5x.

      @Funcentric thanks! I'll keep that in mind and look for better heatsinked motors.

      Sure, this one isn’t brand new. It’s been around awhile but I needed the time to run through the packs to gain a real perspective. Most reliable rc I have to date. 1/18 a little squirrelly but it’s great for its size.
      I’ve been tempted to get into FPV wings! All quads down for some time now except the bigger guy that I’m scared I’ll run into another window, $$$.

    I've had one since January. The first outing, I blew out one of the front dog bones. HBX is sending me both front CVDs though. It's fast as hell, and flips over super easy.

      Haha. Yeah that’s what happens when you put so much power into a small package. Imagine that in 3S. Haha.

      Nice! I still love mine. I've been so stoked though on the MJX 16208. It's insane. Too powerful for kids though, but as a parent, you'll love it. Will probably be making a video soon. It's the 1/16 scale rc to end all 1/16 scales. Yup, that good. Oil filled shocks, honeycomb style chassis, separate receiver, clipless body securing mount, skeleton frame on the inside of the body, goes 37mph. It's nuts. Wheelies on 2S and designed as 3S capable and seriously is. Speed adjustability only drops to 70%, so still not low enough for most youngsters under 8 I'd say.

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Před rokem +1

      I wouldn't risk that. It's a good RC; you don't want to break it. If you want something 3S capable that's fairly small, look at the MJX 16208.

    In HBX 18859a we go 1000mah battery till how much we can battery upgrade

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Před 8 měsíci

      I don’t recommend running more than 2S voltage in these. Mah isn’t really an upgrade. It’s just battery capacity. I have a video on how to select a battery. At some point the weight of the battery will make it perform a lot worse. The larger the battery, the less efficient. Just keep that in mind.

    My daughter just got one for Christmas, fast little car, even goes through grass pretty well. Only issue is it will run for approximately 10 minutes then stop. Even with swapping out a fresh battery it may run for 5 mins then stop but you can still control the steering of the front wheels. Any idea of what that could be? Thanks

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Před 4 měsíci

      When it can only steer, it means it barely has enough battery to steer but not throttle.
      Perhaps lower the speed so that it’s not on full throttle and that should make it last longer.

    • @32Immense
      @32Immense Před 4 měsíci

      Thanks for the quick reply. I tried that today and it worked for a good while. Then started doing the same thing. Would love to figure out why it can't go full power because the car really rips.

    I just got the 16889 for my son, I wonder if I should have went with the 18859 instead. I thought the 1/18 would have been smaller but it seems to be the same size..
    What are the differences?

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Před rokem +1

      I suspect you mean the 16889A Pro. There’s no real difference between that and the 18859A. The latter had two batteries instead of one and is indeed smaller and comes with two bodies.
      The build of each and features though are identical.
      Hopefully you did not get the standard 16889. If you did, hopefully it was brushless. The 18859 is quite old by now. I’m further assuming you mean the 18859A which is the purple one shown.
      1/16 will take on grass better due to the ground clearance.

      @@Funcentric actually it's the 16889 standard (brushed) as brushless version wasn't available for me.. I was wondering how I could further improve it.. or if it was just better to get a 2nd one. Thanks in advance for the insight
