    For method #3 in our body shell reinforcement experiment, we used our HBX 16890 and our HBX 18859a. This is one of the easier and quicker methods to apply so it will be very interesting to see how it holds up. We also used it to repair cracks in the 16890 body. We ran both cars as hard as possible to really test them properly!

    I actually got an 18859 A myself earlier this year, and I love it. I've been considering throwing some street tires on it and turning it into a street basher. My Kraton is my dirt basher so I wanna make this my street basher. You think 2s is fast... 3s is wild with this thing... The chassis brace makes for a decent place to strap a bigger 3s to. It weighs it down a tiny bit more. Making it handle ever so slightly better.

    Loving my 18859A. It's amazingly durable. I've beat the snot out of it at my local skate park. What tires are those and where can you get them?

    • @DerbyCityRC
      @DerbyCityRC  Před rokem +1

      Here are those tires. They work well on this truck for sure, you just have to turn the steering dual rate down so it doesn't rub the body. I haven't been able to find wheel spacers for it yet.

    • @DerbyCityRC
      @DerbyCityRC  Před 2 lety +1

      This video was only 2s. The 18859a had a 35c 2200mah ovonic battery.
      And the 16890 is running on a Gens Ace battery with the same specs I believe.
      The larger tires on both cars definitely helps with pep!

    • @DerbyCityRC

    Great review! What’s the advantages and disadvantages to putting those bigger tires on?

    • @DerbyCityRC
      @DerbyCityRC  Před 2 lety

      Thanks! It offers more air control so it can do backflips and front flips much easier. In most cases bigger tires will add more traction, and just overall more fun! I try bigger tires on almost everything 🤣. As long as the motor can handle it, it’s more fun in my opinion!!

    • @DerbyCityRC
      @DerbyCityRC  Před 2 lety

      Disadvantages would be more pressure on the drivetrain, but we haven’t had too much bad luck there yet.

    It is cool someone else likes the HBX brand. Out of all my trucks, the 18859a is the only car I have not broken yet. They are fun. I think I will get the 1/16 one next. I have a wltoys12428. I wish I would have got the HBX desert buggy instead. If they come out with some aftermarket parts for the HBX. They will give wltoys a run for there money. In my opinion they are better vehicles.

    • @DerbyCityRC
      @DerbyCityRC  Před 2 lety

      Yes I love my HBX cars. I have more fun with those (my brushless upgraded ones atleast) than I do my Kraton. Cuz I know it won’t break as easy and I can just blast it as fast as I want. I have fun with my desert Journey (Pxtoys) as well, but it’s not quite as solid. A few more aftermarket parts would definitely be amazing!

      @@DerbyCityRC I just finished the video. You said it takes 3 days for shoe goo to dry. That is funny, I wonder if the climate difference( I live in eastern Washington, DRY) has something to do with it. When I shoe goo a body. It is dry to the touch in less than an hour. I have ran one the same day. Keep bashing !!!

    • @DerbyCityRC
      @DerbyCityRC  Před 2 lety

      That is interesting. I just did one last night and it’s good this morning lol. This time I used clear. Maybe the black one takes longer. The black stuff was dry the next morning, but was still kinda tacky for another day or two. Probably would have been fine I guess lol.

    Can you share a link to the larger tires you put on the 18859?

    • @DerbyCityRC
      @DerbyCityRC  Před 2 lety +1

      I will say i actually prefer these: www.banggood.com/custlink/Dvmdskstbq
      They are the same diameter, but wider. The ones in this video are too thin making the car harder to control and they also seem to break easily. I was still going to link them, but i cant find them for some reason. I would also get these wheel spacers for it. amzn.to/3IXb4IA

    • @tnfama
      @tnfama Před 2 lety

      @@DerbyCityRC awesome, much appreciated. This is my first RC, and I like this setup a lot. For the spacers, I would need the 12mm for the 18859, correct? Thanks for the help!

    • @DerbyCityRC
      @DerbyCityRC  Před 2 lety +1

      @@tnfama it’s definitely a fun car!
      Yes 12mm hex, but the ones I linked are a 15mm offset, but still have the 12mm hex. The 15mm means it will push each wheel out 15mm further than normal. That way the tires don’t rub on the body when turning, plus gives a wider stance for better handling. So the ones I linked for you are perfect. 👍👍

      @@DerbyCityRC Got the tires and the extensions in today... unfortunately the hub adapter threads are too big! The axle threads are much smaller so they slide right into the extended "nut" thing. I'm not exactly sure what i need to look for to fit right... do you have another suggestion?
