The best mini monster truck Is the hbx 16889 ( brush AND brushlesss) indestructible
Im just getting into the hobby. Bought a hypergo for my son and then saw how cool his was and bought myself a brushless version. Its has been EXTREMELY tough. I have beaten it and crashed it and jumped it and its taken it all. Only little things here and there have broken (mostly cosmetic). I did notice the differential seemed like it was starting to have issues and email their customer service and they sent me a upgraded replacement and some additional upgraded parts free of charge. I would definitely recommend buying one as a beginners car and also highly recommend upgrading to 3S battery. I keep the controller on the 70% mode and the battery lasts a long time, then if I want to do some speed runs or send it to the moon.... 100% power
Top tip,forget 70% and trying to squeeze a few more minutes of run time it needs to be on 100% all the time,just buy another battery mate

I remember when the original .15 trx 4tec and tmaxx came out, and they were the biggest thing out there for hobby play (not competition obviously). Sometimes there is just a product that becomes amazingly successful.

Good day Kev. Why don't just mold your own wheels from silicon? You get loads of different types with different tearing strengths. If you design your own wheel and print it out along with a mold you can easily make your own wheel to your own spesifications or is this not allowed in the speed runs?

That tire testing rig is such a good idea. As I said on a previous video, if you can't keep the tires on the wheels in the shop you might as well stay home and not waste time at the track!
Lovely to have seen Claire and Ian feature albeit I don't know how long ago the footage was recorded. Hope they managed to find a new home and will be back on CZcams again sometime soon.
Kev recently gave them a free arrma vorteks, do yeah they doin fine!
i had one of those. put a 3S from amazon in it and it would go nearly 40mph with only a bigger battery. ESC would get ridiculously hot (burn your finger in less than a full second of contact) but never burnt up or melted. completely totaled it doing top speed into a curb as i had converted it to 2wd and could not stop in time. snapped the chassis nearly in half. Lol
Kev, have you looked into 3D printing your wheels/tires? I’ve seen it on other channels. But I’m not sure of the quality.

I got the hyper go truck for my 5 year old son, his grand parents bought him some crappy batman monster truck and I was like "nah he needs a decent beginner RC" :p
Only problem is I might have to fit a gyro, because offroad, on gravel or sand, it just spins around in a circle and he gets a bit frustrated with it, plus the front toe out (as it came) caused twitchy steering with massive understeer at speed, so that has to change. People complain about the battery too, but I think it's great for a beginner.

How is it ordering parts for the hyper go cars? I'm sure I'll break something eventually but I'm not finding much for parts online
Do you run the stock 8s traxxas cush drive on the modded XRT/XMaxx's? What about gearing? Keep it Mod1 or convert it to Mod1.5 if i need both gears anyway?
Stock center Diff still? What kind of oil wt's for xmaxx diffs and shocks?

Just ordered the hyper go as my first rc car, as a fpv drone guy living in the uk it collects dust more than flys so I need some kind of winter rc hobby so I think by the look of it this one shall get me through the cold wind and rain lol

Literally just got mine out this morning to have a blast round garden and then your latest vid popped up on it haha. I've got 4 of the MJX hyper go I bought just for a bit of fun trying smaller scale and I've loved em. Managed to get them on some good sale prices from Banggood as well. The monster truck there I paid 67 with some vouchers added and when it was reduced to 80.
My 6year old son has had the mjx for a year now and the back diffs have just gone, such good strong cars im ordering the new truck version today 😊
Anybody out there with a 16207/208/209/210 I strongly advise to check that your screws are tight, last week end, both my MJX 1/16 lost a screw (different one each) in the direction, these screws are not easy to find (and expensive when you can order them, because of shipping mostly), but I found a full set of the direction parts including the screws for a few dollars and it will give me some spares... I will check every screw before my next session.

Kev those ESC are 3s ready. Pop one in those Hyper Go's and you'll love them. I have 3 of them. I use them more then my larger scale cars
the 1/16 hypergo is really something worth every penny spend...i bash mine like theres no tomorrow,,,,almost everyday for the last 3 months of total bashing and carnage with 3s 2200 100c lipo....the kit handles it all like a champ....and yesterday i finally manage to strip the rear bevel gear...so i guess its time to upgrade it to the better metal quality instead of the original molten metal casting parts.
I can personally attest to these HyperGo cars. Although I've never owned one, I came across one when at a local park. The fam and I was running an Outcast 4S, Vorteks 3S and Granite 3S on the grass. We saw some random kids flying through the same grass with a 1/16th HyperGo car. I was impressed with how fast that little RC was.
Yeah they're fast, but watching someone use it for one day doesn't help you find out about the real issues. I've owned 4, returned 3
Broken rear diff in 3 weeks.
Stripped spur in less than 4 weeks
Steering linkage screws not staying put even with thread locker.
I went with a Granite BLX instead.
Also, MJX uses screws that strip so easily. Pain to disassemble them.
They're a fun toy, but the bodies can't handle the speed over weeks of use. They're fast, but at a cost.
All these budget cars seem really great for the price but my concern is replacement parts, where do you find them? That's usually why I stick with the big name brands

I have the feeling that MJX is starting to become a big brand and parts will become more and more available with their sales increasing. No trouble ordering anything from China from me and it take juste 7 to 10 days to arrive. I could almost make a brand new cars with the spare parts you can find and most of the pieces on the car shouldn't break, so I will just order the weakest points and shouldnt worry for a while.

They're fun but the servo on mine lasted about 5 days before dying completely. And it's a 5 wire so to change it out you're gonna need a lot of extra stuff

that is one of the problem I concerned. They are good but, parts is the problem. In terms of parts, low end RC brand like FTX, Redcat, and HSP, RGT (in asia) is better
Mini RC is the best imo, can run them anywhere, they are strong due to low weight and throw in the car and go. Cheap batteries too! I’ve learnt skills running a 144010 in the wet, bigger cars seem easy in comparison

How well would either of these handle 3s? does anyone know, how easy would it be to remove and replace the diffs and how long would they last
I got the Hyper Go 16208 and broke the U shaped clip that locks the body onto the chassis straight away on bumpy grass and a few cartwheels. Then I broke the front tongue on the body that slots into the front shock tower. Has anyone worked out how to make these things stronger? Anyone have any idea how to make an internal roll cage for it? Also broke the fan after doing huge airs at the skate park.
What run time are people getting with the little basher using the supplied battery? Are aftermarket batteries available that are compatible with it?

I have a hyper go I killed the rear differential on 2s and the tires but the thing just takes it I crashed mine so much I’m surprised it still works it’s such a good starter car.
Please review more rc cars like back in the day. I would love to see the trx 4 m or the new rc bike
I bought a TRX4M a few weeks ago. Drove it for 5 minutes and haven't used it since. Mini crawlers aren't my thing it seems

I just broke the rear diff somehow on mine mjx 16... I'll propably take the front diff and putt it in the back and make it an rwd. What u think abt that🤔
They are easy to find online, I bought 2 spares just in case, they even make upgraded versions but they are about 2.5-3x more expensive, not sure it's worth it. Check also that your screws are tight, lost a screw in the direction in each of mine this week end...

Kevin what would be in your opinion one of the best chargers for your batteries. Something easy to take the guesswork out for beginners ?
My bet is the recently released b6neo. It's 40 euro and can charge at 200 watt and, rather important, discharge to storage voltage at 24 watt.

Those are nice until they break. I just returned my third one. 1st one rear diff broke in a month. 2nd one spur stripped in a month. 3rd one steering linkage screws didn't stay put even with threadlocker.
Bit the bullet and paid extra for a slower Granite BLX. No problems yet, since the body is so much higher than the MJX, rocks don't jam up the steering, which was what caused all my MJX issues.
Maybe MJX is fine on street, but gravel, not so fine. None of those 3 drove straight either, no matter what the trim settings. They're stuck between toy grade and hobby grade. The H14BM rips, but the crappy body plastic and screws can't handle the forces put onto them at 40 MPH.
I just bought a DEERC H16R Brushless off Amazon and it's the same platform as the hyper go. What's up with that?

They’re very similar to an AARMA K8S. But way more durable.
