The speaker knows just little about the Moorish Divine Nationals Movement.
Even though it's very interesting to hear his view on this , but the truth, is not so kind !
The Arabs or Eastern Muslims think that they have so care of right to Islam and no one else.
      They are sadly mistaken.
The Moorish ( Moors ) are the SEED of Abraham, IT WAS ALLAH WHO SENT HIS PROPHETS THROUGH THE SEED ( FAITH OF ALLAH) TO SENT TO .
THE MOORS ARE THE DESCENDANTS OF THE ANCIENT MOABITES, FROM THE LAND MOAB IN THE HOLY LAND.
WE KNOW WHO WE ARE , WE'LL NOT AFRICANS AMERICANS .
THE MAHDI WAS RAISED AMONGST OUR PEOPLE,
BUT MOST KNEW IT NOT !
HE CAME LIKE A THEIF IN THE NIGHT, AND HE LIFT WITHOUT BEINGS NOTICE,
MUSLIMS AND CHRISTIANS ARE WAITING ON THE RETURN OF MUHAMMAD ( THE MAHDI ) AND YEHOSUA ( ISSA )
BUT CAME IN THE PERSON OF NOBLE DREW ALI, IN THE YEAR OF 1886 , AND ESTABLISHED OUR OWN ISLAMIC MOVEMENT, WITH HIS HELPER OF MARCUS GARVEY.
FOOLISH ARABS, THE MOORS ( MOABITES) WERE ON THIS EARTH BEFORE THE ARABS CAME TO THIS EARTH!

Very true. Overall muslim communities do NOT have this view but it is still there especially with the first generation. a LOT of muslims born and raised in america (2nd generation) are a lot more comfortable with african americans because we grew up with them as opposed to our elders who come from lands with 1 ethnicity. Islam itself, alhumdulilah, abolished racism and it is only the ignorance of the individual for any racism.

You are absolutely correct there are a lot of immigrant Muslims who have the mentality of European oppressors, they often times think like them, behave like them, to some degree have marriage with them.

Asalaam Alaikum! I didn't realize that you did a lecture on this. I descend from a matriarch who was a Muslim taken from Casamance Senegal, at age 12 and enslaved in South Carolina. Her name was Asia. On some documents, there is a surname spelled "daod," although I still don't know if it was spelled correctly or if it was even her surname. she may have been one of the children of Cheikhs whose children were sold into slavery about that time. Our family evolved into a ministerial family that was strictly pentecostal. I reverted to Islam in March of 2021, after reconnecting with some of my family members there. And yes, we still have a lot of distinctive ways in my family.

May Allah reward your effort to enlighten the immigrant community concerning the African-American Muslim's contribution to the spread of Islam in America. You could have taken it one step further by recommending the reading of Who Speaks For The Muslims In America because a problem can not be solved until the acknowledgement that a problem exists and that takes more than a forty minute talk. I also think that two corrections are in order, Kareem Abdul Jabbar was never a member of the Nation of Islam and Warith Deen Muhammad became a Sunni Muslim before Malcolm X (Malik Shabazz) did. May Allah bless, guide and protect the Believers.

This presenter, if he was earnest in not intentionly side-slap the Nation, has not done a thorough, indepth research regarding the Nation. If he did, he would have spoken better about it. What he fail to mention that the Americas was own by the Moroccan , the Americas is part of the Al Maghreb ( the farthest west ) where the Sun sets .
There were Moors who were the first inhabitants of the Americas ,
As a matter of fact the continents , North , Central and South America were all connected together , to take it a little further , the Americas is actually Northwest Africa .
It was the Great earthquake which caused the Great Atlantic Ocean to form . The continental shifted , civilizations went underwater like the city of Atlantis ad other places .
Christopher Columbus wrote in his diary that he seen Islamic Mosque on the hill of Cuba .
All of the Americas were Moslems , Islam spreaded across the Atlantic Ocean .
North America is place of the Al Maghreb , part of the Moorish Emprie , the land of the Moors !
Let's be real clear about this subject .
