Battle of ahzab has to be the best episode of warfare in the seerah. An exotic defensive idea from a man travelled from afar in search of the last prophet, a tiny muslim community not only facing extermination from a tremendous coalition of armies but also the inside threats and treachery from the munafiqun and the banu quraydha, 3 weeks of intense psychological struggle taking its toll even on the most faithful of believers, a brilliant twist in the plot from the conversion of Nuyaim ibn mas'ud (RA), the bravery of Ali (RA) and others, the wounded lion Saad ibn Mu'adh (RA) and his ice cold final judgement and the martyrdom that followed, the winter strom tgat ended the siege and the march of muslims that ended in banu quraydha - a monthlong series of events that can put any holliwood plot to shame.

The question of should Muslims be living within non Muslim lands is one which has needed to be addressed for quite some time, decades probably, and it is not only related to what is currently happening in Palestine though that is one very important argument to consider, the fact is the next world war is coming, and there are certain places which will definitely be targeted in this upcoming global conflict, many of these places are where Muslims have chosen to flock to because previous generations were deceived by the false sunrise from the west, it is in fact Dajjal's river of water, which is in reality a trap. From the ten major signs of the day of judgement it could be argued that already four have come to pass, one of them which has yet to happen is the smoke, this smoke is clearly a reference to the nuclear winter that will ensue in the aftermath of world war three, once one of the major signs appears the others will not be far off, they were not told to us in chronological order - I argue the sun rising from the west has happened, the dajjal has in part already happened though this one will unfold in stages as the prophet told us, yajuj wa majuj being released has also come to pass - as even hadith of the prophet clearly state, and I also believe the beast of the earth has happened in part too, that leaves six, the smoke may well be coming next or soon after the next, we need to start looking again at the ten major signs and the hadith of the prophet concerning the dajjal and the end times, and realize the religious symbolism and the advice contained within many of these statements, which we are failing to understand. The reason why present day Islamic scholarship fails to acknowledge that any of the major signs have occurred is because of their unjustified resistance to metaphorical interpretation being applied to these particular signs, and there is a general misunderstanding of some major signs also, as in the case of yajuj wa majuj, they have completely misunderstood who these people are, and dajjal is something which will unfold in phases which have not been properly understood and interpreted.

I am your sister from Yemen, and by God, I did not speak except out of hunger and poverty. My mother, my sisters, and I have been displaced from our homes because of the war. We are in a state that only God knows about To Him is He, and He is the best disposer of affairs, among those who have brought us to this state. By God Almighty, I did not write this appeal out of distress and poverty, O All-Knowing One. In us, I hope for you. By God Almighty, Lord of the Magnificent Throne, he eats what I have in the house, and by God, my brothers, they will sit down today There is no food, and by God, we are in a very difficult situation. 6 of us fled into the house, and my father died, and there is no one to depend on us, and we live in a rented house “We cannot pay the rent we owe.” ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' 'My brother, my first words are that I swear by God on the Book of God that I will not lie to you, nor deceive, nor deceive. I am a Yemeni girl displaced from the war. My family and I, in Ayat Al-Shahrab, have 15,000 Yemenis among us, and now we owe 45,000 for 3 months, and the owner of the house is one of the people who will not have mercy. By God, my brother, everything will come. One day he insulted us and talked about us and wanted to leave the house and take him to the street because we could not pay him the rent. The neighbors saw us crying and came back to talk to the neighbors and gave us the end of the week. We paid him an oath, may God have mercy on him, he will take us out to the street and we will have mercy on him. Our country is because of this war, and we cannot find food for our day, and my sisters and I are living on a embassy. Our father is dead, may God have mercy on him, and we have no one in this world who has been with us in these harsh circumstances. My little sisters went out to the street and saw the neighbors eating, and they stopped at their door to give them bread, even if they broke it, and by God who has the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, they closed the door and expelled them. And they came back crying. They were dying of hunger. No one had mercy on them. I gave them a holiday. I would have made a living. Now blame one of us. Help us with a kilo of flour. I swear to God. I am dying of hunger. My brother, I am an alien to God and then to you. I want your help for the sake of God. I implore you, by God, love goodness and help me. WhatsApp me on this number 00967717354582 and ask for a name. And send my card, and do not be late, and may God reward you with all the best. Help us and save us before they throw us out in the street. We become weak or die of hunger. My family and I ask you by God, if you are able to help us, do not be late for us, and may God reward you well..,.,:^:;^:🎉°~°~^~ °^π√^π√~π~√~√~π^~^~π~π~√√~~ππ~π√~~^°^°€€lb🎉🎉❤❤🎉.....😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

Important Notes of The Message of The Quran Part 15: Surah Maryam and Surah Ṭā Hā Section-4 Personal note: السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته This is Section-4 of the Notes. Section-1, Section-2, and Section-3 are commented in different comments as the notes are too long to be commented on in one comment. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. The personal note ends... Contents of Surah Ṭā Hā - Concluding Passage: Once again, we are told the story of Adam(AS) and Iblees. This time, we are told an announcement from Allah. We are told that the only way to be truly content and happy is through following religion. Happiness does not come from external things, it comes from within. This is one of the main messages of the Qur’an. فَاِمَّا يَاۡتِيَنَّكُمۡ مِّنِّىۡ هُدًى ۙ فَمَنِ اتَّبَعَ هُدَاىَ فَلَا يَضِلُّ وَلَا يَشۡقٰى‏ وَمَنۡ اَعۡرَضَ عَنۡ ذِكۡرِىۡ فَاِنَّ لَـهٗ مَعِيۡشَةً ضَنۡكًا وَّنَحۡشُرُهٗ يَوۡمَ الۡقِيٰمَةِ اَعۡمٰى‏ (20:123) Henceforth if there comes to you a guidance from Me, then whosoever follows My guidance shall neither go astray nor suffer misery. (20:124) But whosoever turns away from this Admonition from Me shall have a straitened life; The Surah ends with consoling the Prophet(SAW) against he rejection from the Quraysh and he(SAW) is commanded to seek refuge in Allah’s worship and remembrance. Once again the linkage is made between tough times and increasing your worship and remembrance of Allah. He(SAW) is told to tell his(SAW)’s family to remember Allah too and be patient with them. We shouldn’t harsh with people but we must be consistent and gentle in telling family members to pray, using wisdom. وَاۡمُرۡ اَهۡلَكَ بِالصَّلٰوةِ وَاصۡطَبِرۡ عَلَيۡهَا ؕ (20:132) Bid your people to pray, and be diligent in ˹observing˺ it. This ends Section-4. Section-1, Section-2, and Section-3 will be posted in different comments. Anyone who thinks I have missed some point is welcome to reply but please give the time in the lecture when Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi talked about it so that I can be sure. JazakaAllah Khair

Important Notes of The Message of The Quran Part 15: Surah Maryam and Surah Ṭā Hā Section-3 Personal note: السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته This is Section-3 of the Notes. Section-1, Section-2, and Section-4 are commented in different comments as the notes are too long to be commented on in one comment. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. The personal note ends... Contents of Surah Ṭā Hā - The Qur’an does not cause Distress & Dua of Musa(AS): The beginning Ayahs show that the Qur’an and Grief do not go hand in hand. The Qur’an lifts up your grief and distress. Turn to the Qur’an and your heart will find peace and relief from this negativity. طٰهٰ مَاۤ اَنۡزَلۡـنَا عَلَيۡكَ الۡـقُرۡاٰنَ لِتَشۡقٰٓى ۙ‏ (20:1) Ta' Ha' (20:2) We did not reveal the Qur'an to you to cause you distress; Then comes 90 Ayahs (two-thirds of the Surah) which all talk about the story of Musa(AS). It begins from Allah’s conversation with Musa(AS) on Mount Sinai. Allah says to him(AS) - اِنَّنِىۡۤ اَنَا اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنَا فَاعۡبُدۡنِىۡ ۙ وَاَقِمِ الصَّلٰوةَ لِذِكۡرِىۡ (20: 14) “Verily I am Allah. There is no god beside Me. So serve Me and establish Prayers to remember Me.” This shows the importance of Prayer. Isa(AS), as a baby, utters the command to Pray. The first Surah ever-revealed - Surah Al-Iqra - the Prophet(SAW) is told to pray. Musa(AS), in the first meeting ever with Allah, is told to pray. Allah confers the status of Prophethood to Musa(AS), gives him(AS) miracles, and tells him(AS) to go and do Da’wah to Fir’aun. Musa(AS) is humble, even with all these miracles, he(AS) understands that he(AS) needs more help from Allah. He(AS) makes a very comprehensive Dua. Open my breast for me; (20: 26) and ease my task for me, (20: 27) and loosen the knot from my tongue (20: 28) so that they may understand my speech; (20: 29) and appoint for me, from my household, someone who will help me bear my burden - (20: 30) Aaron, my brother. (20: 31) Strengthen me through him (20: 32) and let him share my task (20: 33) that we may abundantly extol Your glory; (20: 34) and may remember You much. (20: 35) Verily, You have always watched over us." Without Allah’s blessings, nothing happens. Musa(AS) asks for Allah’s help. He(AS) is also being generous, he(AS) asks the honor of Prophethood to be given to his(AS) brother too - Harun(AS). When you give to others, that generosity will come to you. Contents of Surah Ṭā Hā - Story of Musa(AS): Then Allah shows Musa(AS) that He has been helping him(AS) at every stage of his(AS) life. All the events of Musa(AS)’s life is narrated concisely. And through this story, the ProphetS(SAW) is being comforted and told that Allah was, is, and will always be with him(SAW). Now too, everyone of us has been protected by Allah to get to exactly where we are right now to go ahead and do what tasks we need to do. Everything happens with Allah’s plan. ثُمَّ جِئۡتَ عَلٰى قَدَرٍ يّٰمُوۡسٰى‏ (20: 40) and now you have come at the right moment as ordained. After that, Musa(AS) is told to go to Fir’aun along with Harun(AS). He(AS) is told to speak to Fir’aun gently. فَقُوۡلَا لَهٗ قَوۡلًا لَّيِّنًا لَّعَلَّهٗ يَتَذَكَّرُ اَوۡ يَخۡشٰى (20: 44) and speak to him gently, perhaps he may take heed or fear (Allah)." This shows us that if we want to advice someone, we need to speak softly and gently. The average Muslims want to be good, but one of the main reasons they turn away from religion, is because of the harshness of the advocates for Islam. The greatest of men were humble and gentle in front of the worst of people. As for the speakers, they need to be more gentle while speaking. As for the people who turn away because of them, this excuse will not be accepted on the Day of Judgement. So separate the Muslim from Islam, learn what Islam says. Don’t judge Islam by the actions of a Muslim (especially a bad one). After this comes the converting of the magicians. It is astounding how quickly they converted and how strong their Faith was. When Fir’aun threatens to torture them to death, they remain steadfast and reply back to him. (73) (20:72) The magicians answered: "By Him Who has created us, we shall never prefer you to the Truth after manifest Signs have come to us. So decree whatever you will. Your decree will pertain, at the most, to the present life of the world. (20:73) We believe in our Lord that He may forgive us our sins and also forgive us the practice of magic to which you had compelled us. Allah is the Best and He alone will abide." Surah Ṭā Hā is the one and only time Allah talks about the evil religious leader called Samuri. He was a person who lived at the time of Musa(AS) and wanted power. It is most likely he saw Jibreel(AS) walking and took some remnants from the footsteps of Jibreel(AS). He used this to make the golden calf sound like it was alive. Some Isrealites followed him. Allah punished Samuri in this world and the next. The main lesson we learn from this is that there exists a category of people who literally sell their next life for this life. There are people who misguide under the garb of piety even in Islam. Our religion is not based upon cultish personalities, it is based upon Allah, worshipping Him, and the Sunnah of His Messenger(SAW). A true scholar connects you with the Qur’an and they are humble. The goal is not the scholar, it is the religion. Don’t follow the scholars who follow Samuri. Contents of Surah Ṭā Hā - Descriptions about Day of Judgement: This Surah has some of the most powerful Ayahs about the Day of Judgement. When people come on the Day of Judgement and see their whole life was spent doing nothing useful, they will argue with Allah that they only lived for a day or few days. This shows us that we must take advantage of our time and use it to pass the exam of that Day. No intercession will be accepted except what Allah has allowed. A summoner will call them to Heaven or Hell and they will just follow him. يَوۡمَـئِذٍ يَّتَّبِعُوۡنَ الدَّاعِىَ لَا عِوَجَ لَهٗؕ وَخَشَعَتِ الۡاَصۡوَاتُ لِلرَّحۡمٰنِ فَلَا تَسۡمَعُ اِلَّا هَمۡسًا‏ (20:108) On that Day people shall follow straight on to the call of the summoner, no one daring to show any haughtiness. Their voices shall be hushed before the Most Compassionate Lord, so that you will hear nothing but a whispering murmur. وَعَنَتِ الۡوُجُوۡهُ لِلۡحَىِّ الۡقَيُّوۡمِؕ (20:111) All faces shall be humbled before the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting Lord, Whoever does righteous deeds and is a believer, they will have nothing to grieve on that Day. The way to do this is through the Qur’an (Ayah 113). True knowledge comes from the Qur’an. We see one of the Qur’anic Dua that the Prophet(SAW) is commanded to read. وَقُلْ رَّبِّ زِدۡنِىۡ عِلۡمًا‏ (20:114) and pray: "Lord! Increase me in knowledge." This ends Section-3. Section-1, Section-2, and Section-4 will be posted in different comments. Anyone who thinks I have missed some point is welcome to reply but please give the time in the lecture when Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi talked about it so that I can be sure. JazakaAllah Khair

Important Notes of The Message of The Quran Part 15: Surah Maryam and Surah Ṭā Hā Section-2 Personal note: السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته This is Section-2 of the Notes. Section-1, Section-3, and Section-4 are commented in different comments as the notes are too long to be commented on in one comment. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. The personal note ends... Contents of Surah Maryam - Story of Ibrahim(AS) & Mentions of Certain Other Prophets: Allah gives a glimpse of good manners and perfect composure in the story of Ibrahim(AS) - Ayahs 41-50. In the face of such high level opposition from his(AS) father, Ibrahim(AS) still maintained proper decorum and dignity throught the conversation. He(AS) kept telling lovingly “O my dear father” till the very end. Even when his(AS)’s father ordered him(AS) to get out of the house, Ibrahim(AS) wished Peace for the father. قَالَ سَلٰمٌ عَلَيۡكَۚ سَاَسۡتَغۡفِرُ لَـكَ رَبِّىۡؕ (19: 47) Abraham answered: "Peace be upon you. I shall seek pardon for you from my Lord.” When he(AS) was so patient with his(AS) father, he(AS) got rewarded. Allah gave him(AS) righteous children. This really shows that you also get rewarded for the way you treat others. In Arabic, there is a saying “As you do to others, so will be done to you.” ۙ وَهَبۡنَا لَهٗۤ اِسۡحٰقَ وَيَعۡقُوۡبَ ؕ (19: 49) and We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob The Surah goes on. A number of Prophets are mentioned. We are told to take them as role models. After that, comes a famous Ayah (Ayah of Sajdah) where we are strongly encouraged to prostrate to Allah when we read or listen to this Ayah in Arabic. Contents of Surah Maryam - Warnings about the Day of Judgement & Descriptions of Jannah: After all these beautiful stories, there comes a warning. فَخَلَفَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ خَلۡفٌ اَضَاعُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاتَّبَعُوا الشَّهَوٰتِ فَسَوۡفَ يَلۡقَوۡنَ غَيًّا ۙ‏ (19: 59) They were succeeded by a people who neglected the Prayers and pursued their lusts. They shall presently meet with their doom, The later generations became lazy when it comes to Prayers and fell prey of they desires. Piety and Prayer are linked to each other. Prayer is a way to control yourself and not act upon desires. We need to see how regular we are with our Prayers, that will tell us the status of the connection between our hearts and Allah. Surah Maryam beautifully describes Jannah, it has some of the most beautiful Ayahs. وَمَا نَتَنَزَّلُ اِلَّا بِاَمۡرِ رَبِّكَ (19:64) (The angels will say): "(O Muhammad!) We descend not except by the command of your Lord. In the early days of Da’wah, the Prophet(SAW) was eager to see Jibreel(AS) more frequently and so he(SAW) told him(AS) that he(SAW) would like to Jibreel(AS) come down more often. In response, Allah told Jibreel(AS) to say the above. This shows us that people of piety are attracted to piety. They want to stay in the company of other pious people more. Now starts the description of the Day of Judgement. One Ayah in here indirectly references the Bridge (Pul-Siraat) which everyone of us will have to pass through to reach Jannah. وَاِنۡ مِّنْکُمْ اِلَّا وَارِدُهَا ؕ كَانَ عَلٰى رَبِّكَ حَتۡمًا مَّقۡضِيًّا ۚ‏ (19:71) There is none of you who will not pass over it. ˹This is˺ a decree your Lord will fulfil. Contents of Surah Maryam - Concluding Passage: Surah Maryam concludes with some of the most powerful Ayahs regarding the false blasphamous claim - “Allah has a son”. One of the sad realities of the modern times is that most of us don’t have a sense of Honor (غيرة) for Allah. We are taught a version of live and let live that says "Don't worry about anything”. We cannot force anyone, they have a right to have their opinions. But we need to feel a sense of pious outrage in our hearts when we come across blasphamous comments about Allah. Jews and Christians are allowed to have their Beliefs, but our hearts should not be okay with those beliefs because they are not correct and Allah is far more worthy. وَقَالُوۡا اتَّخَذَ الرَّحۡمٰنُ وَلَدًا ؕ‏ (19:88) They claim: "The Most Compassionate Lord has taken a son to Himself." لَـقَدۡ جِئۡتُمۡ شَيۡـئًـا اِدًّا ۙ‏ (19:89) Surely you have made a monstrous statement. تَكَادُ السَّمٰوٰتُ يَتَفَطَّرۡنَ مِنۡهُ وَتَـنۡشَقُّ الۡاَرۡضُ وَتَخِرُّ الۡجِبَالُ هَدًّا ۙ‏ (19:90) It is such a monstrosity that heavens might well-nigh burst forth at it, the earth might be cleaved, and the mountains fall اَنۡ دَعَوۡا لِـلرَّحۡمٰنِ وَلَدًا (19:91) at their ascribing a son to the Most Compassionate Lord. وَمَا يَنۡۢبَـغِىۡ لِلرَّحۡمٰنِ اَنۡ يَّتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا ؕ‏ (19:92) It does not befit the Most Compassionate Lord that He should take a son. اِنۡ كُلُّ مَنۡ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ اِلَّاۤ اٰتِى الرَّحۡمٰنِ عَبۡدًا ؕ‏ (19:93) There is no one in the heavens and the earth but he shall come to the Most Compassionate Lord as His servant. لَـقَدۡ اَحۡصٰٮهُمۡ وَعَدَّهُمۡ عَدًّا‏ (19:94) Verily He encompasses them and has counted them all. وَكُلُّهُمۡ اٰتِيۡهِ يَوۡمَ الۡقِيٰمَةِ فَرۡدًا‏ (19:95) On the Day of Resurrection each one of these will come to Him singly. Then Allah says how to get acceptance and love. اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ سَيَجۡعَلُ لَهُمُ الرَّحۡمٰنُ وُدًّا‏ (19:96) Indeed, the Most Compassionate Lord will soon create enduring love for those who believe and do righteous works. The Surah ends with a warning to the Qurasyh and a demonstration of Allah’s Power. وَكَمۡ اَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُمۡ مِّنۡ قَرۡنٍؕ هَلۡ تُحِسُّ مِنۡهُمۡ مِّنۡ اَحَدٍ اَوۡ تَسۡمَعُ لَهُمۡ رِكۡزًا‏ (19:98) How numerous are the peoples that We destroyed before them! Do you now perceive any one of them, or hear even their whisper? Introduction - Surah Ṭā Hā: Surah Ṭā Hā is one of the earliest revelations. It is a mid size Surah, half a Juz (10 pages). The primary goal of Surah Ṭā Hā is to enumerate the blessings of Allah on His Prophets and hence the followers of the Prophets, and to talk about the trials that Prophets will face. This Surah gives one of the most detailed accounts of the story of Musa(AS). We see the Fira’un denying and the sorcerers converting to Islam so strongly. This Surah also plays a role in the Seerah because this was the Surah that moved Umar ibn Al-Khattab(RA) to accept Islam after wanting to kill the Prophet(SAW). This ends Section-2. Section-1, Section-3, and Section-4 will be posted in different comments. Anyone who thinks I have missed some point is welcome to reply but please give the time in the lecture when Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi talked about it so that I can be sure. JazakaAllah Khair

Important Notes of The Message of The Quran Part 15: Surah Maryam and Surah Ṭā Hā Section-1 Personal note: السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته This is Section-1 of the Notes. Section-2, Section-3, and Section-4 are commented in different comments as the notes are too long to be commented on in one comment. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. The personal note ends... Introduction - Surah Maryam: Surah Maryam was revealed very early on, most likely 3rd-4th Year of the Prophet(SAW)’s preaching. It consists around 7 pages, less than half a Juz. It has 98 Ayahs. The main goal of Surah Maryam is to affirm the Oneness of Allah and to negate the notion that He might have children(or any partners at all), also it is to prove the Hereafter. The primary mechanism used in this Surah is the stories of the Prophets. The bulk of the Surah is the story of Zakariya and Maryam. Then it moves on around a page and a half about Ibrahim(AS) and the disbelieving father. After that, very briefly, this Surah mentions 5-6 Prophets in succession. The last Ayahs of this Surah are about the Day of Judgement before the Surah concludes with some of the most explicit denials of Allah possibly taking a child. When the Muslims migrated to Abyssinia due to the persecution of the Quraysh, there was a Christian ruler - Asramah whose title of Najashi. Quraysh tried to get them back and sent a group of delegates who presented their case. To listen to both sides and be fair, Najashi asked the Muslims to defend themselves. Ja’far ibn Abi Talib [cousin of Prophet(SAW)] came forward and presented the truth. To enrage Najashi and cause a wedge between Muslims and Christians, the delegates told him to ask about Jesus(AS). Ja’far ibn Abi Talib responded by reciting around a half of Surah Maryam. Najashi was moved to tears and secretly became Muslim. Around a decade later, Jibreel(AS) came down to the Prophet(SAW) and informed him(SAW) that Najashi died. Since he was a secret Muslim, there would have been no Janazah done for him. However, every Muslim has a right that Janazah is to be prayed over him/her. So the Prophet(SAW) and the Muslims in Madinah prayed Janazah for Najashi and this is the only time the Prophet(SAW) prayed the Salah of Janazah in the absence of the body with the Muslims. In this Surah, Allah constantly calls Himself “Ar-Rahman”. In fact, Allah calls Himself “Ar-Rahman” many more times than He calls Himself “Allah” in this Surah. Ibn Taimiyyah said, “This is the Surah that tells us of Allah’s رحمة (Mercy) to His chosen ones.” Contents of Surah Maryam - Story of Zakariyah(AS) and Yahya(AS): Zakariyah(AS) made a Dua, we can learn the etiquettes of Dua from this: 1. We ask Allah in hushed tones, in a gentle manner. اِذۡ نَادٰى رَبَّهٗ نِدَآءً خَفِيًّا‏ (19:3) when he cried to his Lord in secret. 2. We can complain to Allah, without blaming Him, but by describing our situation with the goal of eliciting sympathy from Allah only. Zakariyah(AS) said, “My bones have grown feeble and my head is glistening with age;” So he(AS) describes the situation. 3. We should praise Allah in the Dua. Zakariya(AS) said - وَّلَمۡ اَكُنۡۢ بِدُعَآئِكَ رَبِّ شَقِيًّا‏ (19:3) but I have never been disappointed in my prayer to You, my Lord! 4. We should keep the tone of the Dua optimistic. Throughout making the Dua, Zakariya(AS) is confident that Allah will answer the Dua. The Prophet(SAW) said, “Make Dua to Allah while you feel certain that your Dua will be responded to.” 5. When we make Dua for a worldly matter, we should always add a caveat to ensure that it will not turn into a curse for us (by distancing us from Allah). Zakariyah(AS) asks for a son and he(AS) adds- وَاجۡعَلۡهُ رَبِّ رَضِيًّا‏ (19:6) and make him, O Lord, pleasing ˹to You˺!” 6. We should use different names of Allah. Zakariyah(AS) used Allah and Rab, he(AS) used Rab three times. So all of Allah’s names are wonderful. Rab is one of the most comprehensive names of Allah. There are two opinions as to the relation between Maryam and Zakariyah(AS) - 1. He(AS) is her uncle. Maryam’s mother’s sister is married to him(AS). If so, Yahya(AS) and Maryam will be first cousins and Isa(AS) and Yahya(AS) will be first cousins once removed. 2. He(AS) is her brother-in-law. Maryam’s older sister is married to him(AS). If so, Yahya(AS) and Isa(AS) will be first cousins. Allah blesses Zakariyah(AS) with Yahya(AS). Yahya(AS) is praised in the Qur’an, he(AS) was given wisdom in his(AS) youth which is a rare thing for teenagers to have. وَّحَنَانًـا مِّنۡ لَّدُنَّا وَزَكٰوةً  ؕ وَّكَانَ تَقِيًّا ۙ‏ (19: 13) and We also endowed him with tenderness and purity, and he was exceedingly pious This is a great personality to have, especially as a son. Contents of Surah Maryam - Story of Maryam and Isa(AS): From Ayahs 16-38, we have the story of Maryam and Isa(AS). We see how Maryam was frightened when she saw Jibreel(AS) as she thought him(AS) to be stranger with evil intent. She reminded Jibreel(AS) to fear Allah and she sought refuge in Allah herself. At times of distress, you turn to Allah and you warn the bad person about the punishment that Allah gives. In this case, it was Jibreel(AS) and she is given the good news. Maryam withdraws to a secluded region when she is about to give birth, she is all alone. This is her first time giving birth, the pain and lonliness she felt is indescribable. The Qur’an describes her in vivid details. She sits under the shade of the tree and she cries in pain saying - يٰلَيۡتَنِىۡ مِتُّ قَبۡلَ هٰذَا وَكُنۡتُ نَسۡيًا مَّنۡسِيًّا‏ (19: 23) "Oh, would that I had died before this and had been all forgotten." Sometimes, life gets difficult and bad thoughts come into our heads. It is at these times that we need to turn to Allah. When we turn to Allah, we will be blessed and Allah will help us. The Qur’an says, “Whoever puts his trust in Allah, Allah will find a way out for him.” (65:2-3) We should take other kinds of help when we need it but the ultimate help is from Allah. Make sure you turn to Allah even if you are in the most difficult period of your life. Maryam turned to Allah and Allah gave her miracles. Allah sent an Angel to speak to her and made the river flow, told her to shake the tree so that the dates would fall down. She found the inner strength to continue and persevere. Maryam comes back to her people and is observing the fast of silence (by Allah’s command), so she points to the baby. The people say “How can we speak to the baby?” And miraculously, the baby speaks. He(AS) says, “Verily I am Allah's servant. He has granted me the Book and has made me a Prophet and has blessed me wherever I might be” (19: 30-31) He(AS) continues - وَاَوۡصٰنِىۡ بِالصَّلٰوةِ وَالزَّكٰوةِ مَا دُمۡتُ حَيًّا ۖ (19: 31) “and has enjoined upon me Prayer and Zakah (purifying alms) as long as I live;” There is no vacation from the worship of Allah. Life is itself a gift, the least we can do is be grateful to Allah and do good to others. He(AS) continues- وَّبَرًّۢابِوَالِدَتِىۡ (19: 32) “and to be kind to my mother.” A baby reminds us about some of the fundamentals of our religion - worship Allah properly and be good to others especially your mother. Then Ayah 33 onwards, Allah says that this is the true narrative. قَوۡلَ الۡحَـقِّ الَّذِىۡ فِيۡهِ يَمۡتَرُوۡنَ‏ (19: 34) ˹And this is˺ a word of truth, about which they dispute. Then Allah says that the Christians themselves dispute over the nature of Jesus(AS). This is mind-boggling since an average Arab (even Christian) would not know of this. This is a miracle of the Qur’an to even point out this dispute. فَاخۡتَلَفَ الۡاَحۡزَابُ مِنۡۢ بَيۡنِهِمۡ (19: 37) Yet their ˹various˺ groups have differed among themselves ˹about him˺, This ends Section-1. Section-2, Section-3, and Section-4 will be posted in different comments. Anyone who thinks I have missed some point is welcome to reply but please give the time in the lecture when Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi talked about it so that I can be sure. JazakaAllah Khair

All respect to Shaykh Yasir. I have benefited immensely from his knowledge. May Allah reward him. I agree with almost everything he stated. However, many Muslims are still grappling with a challenging issue: If lobbying is essentially a legalized form of bribery, protected under the First Amendment as a means of political expression and a way for the ultra-wealthy, corporations, and large PACs to get favorable laws passed, then individuals who want to bring about genuine change are forced to work within a system that is largely built on and encourages unethical behavior. The Quran addresses the issue of bribery in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 188, which states: "**And do not consume one another's wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the rulers in order that [they might aid] you [to] consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful].**" I understand that while there are numerous factors influencing the passage of laws, including public sentiment and grassroots movements, the concern is that unless there is a significant shift in the current landscape-particularly in the way lobbying and PACs are able to influence policy decisions-there is a risk that the scales will remain tipped in favor of the wealthy and powerful. This imbalance could potentially hinder the realization of positive change that benefits all members of society equitably and fosters a just and fair approach to global policy. Yes, we still need to act legally within our capabilities and circumstances, but we also need to be mindful of what we are up against and how best to allocate resources for a better future.
