The first masjid ever built in Indian subcontinent was in Kerala. The Cheraman Perumal masjid, built in 630 CE byMalik bin Dinar and is still existing. The history of Muslims in India is not complete without mentioning the Kerala and Tamilnad Muslims.

Assalaamu Alaikkum, Shaykh! I think I have to add something to what you said. The history of Islam in India started even prior to what you mentioned. It is the time of our beloved Prophet (SAWS) when Islam entered India. A sahabi and a trader by name Malik-bin-Dinar (RA) was the first to introduce Islam to Indian people. You might have read the history of the last king of the Chera dynasty by name Cheraman Perumal who ruled over the Malabar region (now, the State of Kerala) supported the Sahabi and converted a temple into a masjid in 629 A.D. (still there) and embraced Islam. He then went to Madinah Munawwarah to meet the Prophet (SAWS). The history is clear and the masjid is also there as evidence for this.

Yes this is from the history of Indian books. I have heard that one narration also exist about a king who visited our beloved prophet(PBUH) who gives the ginger pickles as gift. During that tenure of the king he saw the moon split and enquired about that to Arabian traders to get to know about the prophet(Pbuh) and visited madina and it seems he died while returning.

Then he decided to meet our beloved prophet pbuh and took shahada. While retuning he died in Yemen and until today his kabr is there.
Malik Ibn dinar was with the king and he continued his Journey to kerala and upon landing he built a masjid there and islam started flourish in south india I.e in Kerala and Tamilnadu

Arabian sailors from countries like Oman have been trading with Chera kingdom in Kerala in the west coast and Pandya and Chola kingdoms in the East coast .They brought horses for these kingdoms from time immemorial even before the dawn of ISLAM. There are many references in the ancient Tamil literature called Sangam literature ..about Arabs..They were called Sonagar..These merchants supplied horses to the king's cavalry . The Arab sailors from OMAN starting from Muscat sailed in the Arabian sea and landed in Calicut .The trade winds carried them to Calicut in Kerala..After the dawn of Islam , the sailors, now Mulims, showed exemplary character ..The Cheraman King was impressed by their behaviour ..In course of time the king permitted the local people to give their daughters in marriage to Arabs who could be taken as bridegrooms or "Mappilla" in malayalam language .In Tamil also we call "Mappillai." Their descendants are now called Mapppilla muslims . In Tamilnadu Arabs settled in coastal areas..Those who built ships and engaged in sea trade are called MARAIKKAYARS .Those who became horse merchants and cavalry horsemen were called RAVUTHARS..These Ravuthars served in the armies of the Tamil kings in high positions ...,..............The ancient Arab sailors sailed to to Srilanka...to Malaya ...Indonesia...........Malacca straits....then to SHANGAI and CANTON in CHINA....ISLAM came to KERALA and TAMILNADU even at the time of the Prophet(Sal) or a little later.......surprisingly the climate of Oman and Kerala are similar ..coconut palm trees and banana can be seen ... Legend has it that the kerala king Cheraman Perumal desired to see the Prophet (sal) and undertook voyage ..but he died on the way.before that he had requested the next ruler of kerala to help build a mosque..A mosque was built called ..CHERAMAN PALLI...It is the oldest mosque in India...ISLAM came to Kerala and Tamilnadu at the time of the PROPHET(SAL)..itself ......many years ago I read an article in saudia airline inflight magazine called Ahlan wa Sahlan..The name of the article was "In the wake of Sindbad ". Sindbad , a legendary sailor was a real person..A courtier in the reign of khalifa Haroun Rashid.....the article is about the three scandinavian young men who built ancient sail ships and undertook voyages in the ancient searoutes..They came to Oman and sailed in ancient sailship from muscat. The sultan of Oman gave support .The ship sailed by wind power..after many days of voyage the ship landed in Calicut...The ancient sailors also likewise landed in Calicut...In course of time ,along with them came ISLAM..This is the brief narrative about the arrival of ISLAM IN KERALA AND TAMILNADU..

The sheikh has made an error here. The Khojas came about much later, in the 14th century, due to the efforts of the Nizari Isma'ili da'i Pir Sadardin. Also, Pir Sadardin’s 13th-century ancestor Pir Shams was indeed based in Multan. While there are not historical sources that tie these later communities formed by the Nizari Isma'ili dawa to the centuries-earlier Fatimid-aligned Ismai'li state in Multan, it is not unreasonable to conjecture that there may have been traces of the Isma'ilis and Isma'ili thinking among the populace or some fertile ground for the later da'wa. Nonetheless, to mention the Khojas in the context of the Arab rule of Sindh is extremely anachronistic.

    Cheraman perumal: *kerala*
According to some legends, Cheraman Perumal ("Cheraman Perumal" being the title held by Chera kings) witnessed the splitting of the moon, a supernatural event mentioned in the Quran[12] as a miracle performed by Muhammad when asked for one by Meccan unbelievers. The bewildered King confirmed with his astrologers that the incident had taken place, but didn't know what to make of it. Arab merchants who had arrived at a Malabar port, a bustling global marketplace, sought audience with the King to have his permission to visit Ceylon. In conversation with them, the King learnt about Muhammad, made his son the regent of his kingdom and travelled back with the Arab merchants to meet the man himself.[citation needed]
The story goes that Cheraman Perumal arrived in Arabia with a gift of ginger pickles for Muhammad and his companions[13] and converted to Islam "at the feet of Prophet Muhammad".[14]
The oral traditions of the legend differ greatly, another story goes that Cheraman Perumal was visiting the King of Maldives and they discussed the splitting of the moon, both men deciding to visit Mecca to find out the truth.[14] According to S. N. Sadasivan, a social historian, it wasn't the Cheraman Perumal of Malabar in the tale at all, but instead the King of Maldives, whose capital city "Malé" was confused for "Malabar".[15] In his book A Social History of India, Sadasivan argues that it was the king of Maldives, Kalimanja, who converted to Islam. Mali, which was known to seafarers then, might have been misunderstood as Malabar (Kerala) and this might have given rise to the tale of Tajuddeen in the Cochin Gazetteer, which need not be expected to concoct such a tale which in no way enhances the prestige of the Brahmins or Hindu population.[16][17]
The history of the mosque has given it many architectural quirks including that since it was a repurpose Buddhist shrine, until its reconstruction in 1000 CE the mosque faced East instead of towards the Kaaba. Even today the mosque still includes some remnants of the shrine, including a traditional pond and a lamp that is said to have been burning for a thousand years,[18] with oil that is brought for it by visitors and pilg

However, if the objective of invading india was not a political plot to conquer india for the then islamic empire, the Caliph would have reasoned with the Raja and sent the military force to HELP him fight the pirates rather than to demolish him and take over his kingdom. Although, I also understand that then was the age of empire building and conquest. Even the Rajputs Princes and Kings were at War with each other for expansion.

    A few notes
We have never been taught about
Sri Lankan story that actually triggered Mohammad Bin Qasim attacks
    Debal, Munsura, Habbar,
Prophet Mohammad PBUM forgiveness for Habbar whose fifth generation established the empire back then what is called Pakistan today.
    Talking in terms of Pakistan:
People there still don’t believe in the “two nation theory” and the miraculous birth of Pakistan and that Pakistan was established in the name of Islam. Quad-e- Azam miraculously changed towards Islam and became Muslim and leader of the Muslims in India later. Dr. Iqbal changed as well, and so is his thinking and poetry and his message, which envisioned Pakistan in 1930. As these events were nothing but miracles, and guess what, Pakistan was born on 27th of Ramadan. So we can say that Muslims’ history in India is full of miracles.
Finally, absolutely fascinating facts by brother YQ.
    Below is the edited part.
Ignorance and then take pride on that ignorance is the main problem with many Muslim around us, they don’t wanna do anything but all wanna do is to criticize Muslims who, in the Muslim history, made a great contribution and registered their name in the list of great Muslims. Mohammed Ali boxer, Malcom X were the top of list of Muslim reverts. Actually Brother YQ himself once said that the way Mohammed Ali boxer has served Islam in America by introducing Islam and making the name Mohammed Ali a household name no scholar has ever done that, especially way back in the 60’s.
And both were heavily criticized in their lives. Now it’s Mohammed Ali Jinnah’s term that he was a non Muslim. Dr. Jonathan Brown, Yusuf Estes, brother Edie, Dr. Bilal Philip, sister Lauren Booth, sister Celene Ibrahim, Yusuf Tzortzis, Abdal Hakim Murad, Abdur Raheem Green, Siraj Wahhaj and the list goes on and on. They were all born non Muslims. I hope people humble themselves and learn something from these people before talking about Mohammed Ali Jinnah. Just in case if people are unaware of the fact that Mohammed Ali Jinnah did revert to Islam. And Allah knows better and all wise.

@@Saa42808 I have leant Jinnah studied in England at the time when very few could study in India itself which meant Jinnah's family was very close to their colonial masters. People who fought British occupiers were either killed or kicked out of the country. Even after the independence, those Muslims who fought British forces couldn't live in Pakistan because Pakistani forces were following the exact British laws which had nothing to do with Islam, that's why Faqir of Ipi fought Pakistani forces until his death. Ajab khan afridi never felt safe in newly formed Pakistan and so was Sheikh Faqir of IPi who fought the occupied forces until the end. You can't compare someone like Yusif Estes who have devoted his life to spread Islam vs someone whose actions were against Islam.

When you don't know the subject that's how 200 years of gap is easily swiped under the carpet. There is a Sahabi buried in Peshawar, another Sahabi buried in Kabul so obviously Islam came to a Afghan/Pashtun areas a long time before Bin Qasim.

Sheikh Yasir, Debal (Karachi) and Multan are, or were, not part of "India" (they are part of South Asia, yes; "Al-Hind" may be; but definitely not "India"). Currently the word "India" is used to represent a political State entity "Republic of India". Historically, the word "Al-Hind" was used to represent a geographical region --- the lands on the east side of River Sind/Hind. It was not used to represent a political entity. Current term for that geographical region is South Asia. There is another historical parallel to this; "Al-Sudan" --- the land of the Black people. "Al-Sudan" was also a designation for a geographical region and didn't refer to current political State "Republic of the Sudan" (currently, the closest geographic match to historical "Al-Sudan" is "Sahel"). Imagine calling Ghana or Mauritania part of Sudan. This would definitely be confusing. Right? So Multan and Debal are not part of "India", these are part of South Asia. JZK.

Surah Fussilat 41 : 37 prohibiting muslim to worship sky objects (sun, moon, stars) is recited by Muhammad (because he's illiterate) 3-5 years (AD 613-615) after he proclaimed as a prophet of allah in AD 610. He copied the Jews' Tanak (Bible: the Old Testament) Exodus 20 : 4, Deuteronomy 4 : 19 & 17 : 3 that Yahweh, the God of Israel that's worshiped by Abraham, Ishaq & Yakub, forbids the Israelites to worship sky objects but Q 6 : 77 muslims used to worship the moon goddess 🌙 & Q 53 : 49 Sirius the brightest star used to be Allah.
William Tisdall says in his book "The Original Sources of the Qur'an - Its Origin In Pagan Legends and Mythology" during that time Muhammad followed some of Jewish's, Christian's & the Sabian belief and practices. At that time he was still befriended wth them. He had access to Jewish's, Christian's & the Sabians (ancient people of Mesopotamia (nowadays Iraq) until Syria) scriptures. He admitted the rightful Inhibitans of Israel in the Palestinian's land (Quran 5: 20-26), Jews & Christian are good friends. They'll go to heaven., but quran 5:82 to hate the Jews but Christians are the kindest to muslim, fight & slaughter the Jews (Sahih Muslim, Book 41, Hadith 6981 & 6985), quran 5:14 to hate Christians, quran 9:29 to fight theJews & Christias, 5 : 51, 1 : 7 the Christians & Jews are the cursed ones. Muhammad ordered muslims to pray 5x/ day to curse them, the Pact of Omar in AD 717, allah turned the Jews into pigs & monkeys Q 2 : 65 & 5 : 60, 7 : 163, rats are made from the Jews Sahih Al Bukhari, book 54, Hadith 524, cut the neck & fingers of the disbelievers Q 8 : 12 & 47 : 3 - 4, to kill the non muslims Sahih Al Bukhari Vo. I, p. 13, Q 9 : 14, to wipe out non muslims Q 6 : 44 - 45 & many more.
The turning point is in AD 624. Muhammad wanted to be accepted as their new prophet (the Jew were waiting for their Masiah & the Christian were waiting for the coming of Christ for the 2nd time). When they rejected him he turned against them with sword. Muhammad quarrelled with the Jews in AD 624 in Medina. Muhammad chased, killed & expelled them out of the Arabian Peninsula.... W. Tidall, p. 39. In the same page says in the same year Muhammad performed his 1st 'Idu'l Adha. While the Jews slaughtered lambs Muhammad slaughtered 2 kids. One for his people & one for himself.

had not much knowledge about origin of Islam in India!!!
Please learn and tell the truth to the ummah? Islam never arrive north side of India!!!
North side Indian Muslims are not Arab descents!!!
Arabs and Jews already settled during prophet then during Nabi Sulaiman's time
in South West India before the sultanate of Malabar and Mysore!!!
Then Arabs Muslim and sahabis at 7th century were traders between Malabar(Kerala) and Saudi Arabia,Oman Yemen , Emirates then
The Arabs were Muslims at Nabi time and married locals and settled for generations till now and became Indian Muslims. but by DNA are Arabs
This all happened before Mohamad bin Kasim arrival at Sindh!
The Arab families are abundant , mean much in Malabar,Malabar islands until nowadays with Arab kabilas named , link to prophet and sahabis of Muhammad saw !!!
The Malabar king was first Asian muslim who witnessed the splitting of the moon during the makka jahiliya time
He was named by Nabi, Tajjudin and he married Jeddah king sister, then on his way back to Kerala he died and buried at Salalah , Oman by Sahabi Malik bin Dinar who is brother in law!
Malik bin Dinar came to Malabar, Kerala was Nabi time
There are masjids in Kerala named after Malik and Sultan Tajjudin Al malibary in Kerala!!!
Grave of Malik in kasargod(Malabar) and his Daughter in Mangalore (Malabar)
