- Masquerade of the Guilty, the latest Archon Quest released by Hoyoverse in Genshin Impact, is undoubtedly one of the best and most action-packed Questlines in the entire game. But in addition to all of that, it is potentially the most valuable Questline in Genshin when it comes to the sheer amount of Critical Lore and Story information it provides, clarifies, and reveals.
However, putting all of that aside, Masquerade of the Guilty also features one of the most impactful events in the story. The execution of an Archon and the subsequent destruction of her Divine Throne in Celestia. Focalors, the God of Justice, has left a long-lasting print on the annals of history.
Also, Furina is cool :)

*Original Comment:* Before someone mentions it... Yes, I am aware that there are a lot more commonalities between the Seelies and the Khaenri'ahns. However, I did not feel like editing a 1 hour long movie. The most notable parts I removed are a conversation that Alice had with Zhongli about the ruins in Jueyun Karst + Domain stuff + more Rhinedottir and Albedo stuff.

to me it's interesting that Neuvilette gave vision to Furina ( if I understand your claim correctly) but when it comes to archons...they aren't authority that gives visions. so ancient dragons with ancient authorities can but archons can't? in some ways ..power of archon is less complete and free to power of such dragons.
@@minecraftfumingwow we also haven't filled upgraded them so we need to collect more oculus. It implies the statue holds a very different purpose to the Archon themselves, also oculus means eyes so they are basically little cameras spying or so its implied.
Furina might not have combat experience but if visions are powered by willpower then she might be one of the most powerful vision users of tevyat

Do you mind if I pick your brain a bit on this? I have an old hypothesis about Visions that Furina really revitalized, and I want to collect my thoughts and compare ideas about some of the playable cast and their will/ambitions/wishes. My hypothesis is that a character's rarity (4 star vs 5 star) is not merely an out-of-game marketing and design choice, but also reflected in lore/story as the strength of their Vision, based on the power of their ambition that reached the heavens.

The sections with Focalors and Furina were such a joy to watch. Your intonation mixed with the soundtrack was like the most perfect praise and recognition that they deserved! It really felt like experiencing the archon quest all over again
Fontaine really did drop so much lore which answered so many of my questions, while raising so many more. Videos like this are definitely helpful to understanding all the connections I'd otherwise miss due to just not remembering older quests or having not finished them yet so thank you!

I will leave three little theories here and leave because i have been cooking up a brainstorm since 4.2
1st - The third descender is the traveler that fell in love with the seelie and the seelie is the Tsaritsa, look i may look insane (because i am), but hear me out! The disaster of the seelie and the traveler falling in love is what resulted in the death of the Moon sisters, and to line up with Neuvillette's storie about the visions, it makes sense for the archon war to take place after the fall of the Moon sisters since if The Primordial One was weak like a hamster and the only beings that could watch over the world are now dead because of the seelie curse, it would be a great idea to make other beings watch over the world while The Primordial One was recovering (and more on a side note i believe the reason why The Primordial One and The Second Who Came made the Gnosis together was because of some agreement they made, mainly the possibility of The Primordial One becoming to weak while fighting The Second Who Came and having to truce), and they should have thought of a punishment for the traveler and the seeliefor falling in love, so if i am correct, those would be the following punishments:
For the traveler: Being killed and then used as a source of power
For the seelie (if she is the Tsaritsa): Being forced to live and have the blame for killing all of your race, having to be chained to the Heavenly Principals and having the remains of your loved one inside you to re ind you of the sin that you commited
So yeah, atleast i think its possible :^
2nd - The Samsara of Teyvat, (this is more information than theory) If you teleport to a waypoint ( i don't remember where), you can find another sheet of paper which talks about the world Samsara and that we are in the midle of the 4th Samsara, following the regions that they talk about we can assume that the regions were the Samsaras took place are:
1st Samsara: The region was in the place were Shnezhnaya is today
2nd Samsara: This one was kinda obvious since its almost the same as Natlan
3rd: It was Remuria so Fontaine
And 4th: I believe it is somewhat Khaenri'ah
This is more of a funfact and im still trying to process what could it mean (together with the descriptions of the materials of The All Devouring Narwhal since they have so much possible lore of The Traveler, specially the description of the material that we receive in the quest), but have it as a little thought
3rd - The Traveler, The Pyro Archon and the key to Shnezhnaya, so, The Tsaritsa only needs one more Gnosis to achieve her goal, it wouldn't make sense for us to wait one whole year to make her plan work, and i think Natlan will be the solution to that question, lets start of by the fact that in the Nations teaser Natlan is very weird compared to everyone, because meanwhile the talks of other Nations are more about the Archons and its people, Natlan is more about the Traveler and The Pyro Archon (probably Murata) as i quote (sorry if any word is wrong) "The rules of the war are woven in the tomb, the victors shall burn bright while the losers must turn to ash. When the Pyro Archon shares this secret with the Traveler, it is because she has her reasons", and together with the fact that her name might be Murata and Hoyo is Hoyo, i believe that Murata is looking for a succesor and the war in Natlan is for the Pyro Archon's throne, Capitano will fight her to try to win the throne and gain the right of the Gnosis, but in fact, he is only turning her into ash, since the winner of the brawl for the Gnosis is the brightest, like the sun, and is only waiting to take charge of their new throne and fight for what they won, so story short i believe that Murata will choose the Traveler as her successor since he won a fight against her and that the Traveler will use the Pyro Gnosis as a bargain chip to get a free ticket to Shnezhnaya

Now you see, I really like your first theory with the Tsaritsa. The timeline/theory however would have to be reworked and added to to make it work because as far as we know, only Venti and Zhongli are the the original 7 Archons that won the throne. The other Archons, not including the Pyro Archon and the Cryo Archon because we don't really know how they gain the favour to become the new Archon, were essentially inherited the throne and became Archons after their predecessors. I think your theory can still work but the previous Cryo Archon would have to be the Seelie, while the Tsaritsa would be someone related to the previous Cryo Archon in some form to gain the throne after what happened to the previous Archon. Or... something like Irmisul tampering or some other element of Teyvat that I forgot about to obfuscate that the current Cyro Archon is part of the original 7 (like a reverse Rukkadevata ig lol), but I feel like that's a stretch since I have no base to doubt that only Venti and Zhongli are left from the original 7 atm, but I thought I mention this regardless to cover my bases ig.
@@TheGeekyRedMageYeah, that's really the only issue with it :^, it could work for the previous Cryo Archon or tempering with the Irminsul like you said, but it would be weird since after Sumeru with people assuming that the Dendro Archon was always the same, Zhongli's story still says its only 2 original Archons, so maybe the previous Cryo Archon could be the Seelie and the Tsaritsa is a descendent of her, and if the Khaenri'ahns being seelies is true, it would make sense that she found out the sin of her family and blamed herself for Khaenri'ah's fall, hence why she became so cold after the cataclysm, still thanks for poiting out :D, when i was writing this i totally forgot about it and only remembered some time after :>, so yeah, if the Tsaritsa theory is true i do believe it is like this i wrote now ^^, thanks again :D
The document mentioning Samsara is located on the Tower of Ipsissimus waypoint. Though I believe it becomes unavailable after a certain quest is completed.
Specific wording is Hyperborea, Natlantean, Remuria and (Khraun-Arya).
It's worth mention that these are just the Ordo's names for them, and those were based on ancient Remurian texts so this is "history" through the lens of a game of telephone.
I usually don’t get too biblical in CZcams comment sections, but towards the end of the vid you mentioned some stuff with Focalors and the Heavenly Principles that seems heavily inspired by certain lines in the Old Testament with the Fontaine Archon Quest. I think I know what you are referring to.
The first is from Isaiah 65:6b-7 where God says, _"Both their iniquities and their fathers' iniquities together, says the Lord; because they made offerings on the mountains and insulted me on the hills, I will measure into their bosom payment for their former deeds."_
In the context of Genshin, this is likely the mentality of the Usurper King, who enacts collective punishment on the current people of Fontaine for the “sins” and “wrongdoings” of their ancestors although most of them had nothing to do with the Original Sin.
This is contrasted with Focalors whose actions much more align with Ezekiel 18:20 (NIV), which says, _"The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them."_
This is a cool detail. Also, I should mention that my quotations are not necessarily 100% word-to-word accurate.

Do keep in mind that Genshin is HEAVILY gnosticism coded! So using the Bible as a reference is a bit... Funny... Because according to gnosticism the Christian God is more akin to The Second Who Came, a false God trying to keep the humanity He created locked in the Earthly Prison and stopping them from Ascending to Godhood themselves.
Funny because if a God created you, a part of that God should be inside of you. This could mean that visions are ANOTHER shackle to keep humans imprisoned. Make them believe they have fulfilled their wishes but in actuality it is a way to stop them from transcending even further 😱😱😱

I will always defend Niou's story quest with my life, sometimes when the character is one and done, the only way to sell who they are is by presenting them with situations that resonate with people more and the message itself. Nilou herself isn't that interesting but she represents something very near and dear to a lot people in Asian countries.

The art you name as "celtic" isnt just celtic, its scandinavian! Which match with the norse naming of Khaenriah. The art styles is similar, likely because we had a lot of contact with eachother. But there are differences...Celtic is almost always mirrored, its organized, while Scandinavian is wild, it swirls around. Rope vs Snake. Scandinavian knots often turn into beasts like snakes and dragons and its often used with runes. Look up runestones, they are amazing! One place in genshin that is an extremely good match for the scandinavian knots are actually Andreas arena! Scandinavian rune art may even predate celtic.

Bruv I've been constantly checking your channel for videos since you announced the upcoming video because I played through some quests and there's alot to uncover in there. Love your videos man. I see loads of theories coming up about Ajax and stuff, really excited for the next patch.
Basically you are suggesting that the Khaenrians are Seelies transformed into Humans with the power of the "Sinner" or perhaps with the power of the Dragon King Nibelung upon reaching the underground of Teyvat. I also thought that the people of Khaenria were not human, but not because they were Seeles, but in their case they were hybrids between Visharps and humans from the Primordial era, since Enjou told us that many dragons had taken the form of human beings and began to live among them and taking into account what the eyes of Neuvillette and the Eyes of Dainlieft look like, it was not crazy to think about that possibility. Now the idea that they are also Seeles would fit into the fact that Celestia went into Nuclear mode against them. And about the creation of humans by Phanes in Teyvat, I have the crazy theory that just as the Gnosis are the body of the 3th descended and that Egeria was created from the remains of the First Hydro Sovereign, it would not be crazy to think that human beings were created from the remains of the sovereigns because, without counting Apep, Neuvillette and possibly Azdaha, we do not know what happened to the Electro and Anemo Sovereigns, we have not seen their bodies and nor have we seen any of their waste. apart from the fact that it remains to be seen what happened with the Pyro and the Cryo.

Well, the parts 2 through 7 of that book do exist actually, you can even google them. They were deleted from game files though by Hoyoverse. Either because they decided to rewrite overall canon. Or because they could be a kind of spoiler. Especially since the person mentioned in the prophecy in tome 7 looks a lot like Aether.
Interesting theories! I never even considered that Rhinedottir might be anything but a regular Kheanri'an. And yeah, I was wondering about the ruins of Dahri as well... I had just assumed it was some kind of facility the Khaenri'ans used for testing or something on the surface (because there are so many robots there). There was one thing that didn't make sense to me though. At 15:05 you mentioned that Jakob was able to transform into an abyssling because he was fontainian (aka a human oceanid)... however, we know from the notes in the enigmatic page quest that Carter, who was also a fontainian, wasn't able to. When Carter had an illness, they tried the same process that turned Jakob into an abyssling, but it failed on Carter.
I believe Carter is not from Fontaine, I think it was either stated or heavily implied but I can't really recall where or when exactly, so take it with a grain of salt

other gods or almost-gods have used irminsul to rewrite/alter things (makoto with the sakura tree, rukkhedevata having nahida delete her, scaramouche trying to delete himself) but focalors seems to be the first one to not worth with irminsul to accomplish something this big. what she did is farther-reaching and way more final because it not only changed teyvat as we’ve known it but also made the event a part of recorded history. this wasn’t accomplished by deleting and rewriting memories but by altering the ENTIRE STRUCTURE of the world. and not only that. her feat was powered by the PEOPLE’S DESIRE FOR JUSTICE. this act was so final that there isn’t a way to circumvent it (like with nahida using allegory to give scaramouche his memories back)

I would argue that there were only 6 seats since at least the end of the Prologue, when Venti gives Dvalin "the Power of the Anemo Archon" shortly before La Signora mugs him.
Possibly since at least the Cataclysm, if my theory that he died back then in order to destroy his Throne and had just been waiting for Dvalin to be purified while pretending to still be alive in order to keep Celestia from selecting a new Archon to replace him and realizing what happened turns out to be true.

P.p.s.: Not really meaningful info but is nice are nice references from Hoyoverse: just re-watched Neuvillette's trailer and his Pneuma strike seems to be a foreshadowing to Foçalors' death, since i believe is the only char from fontaine that has a greatsword fall down completely vertically on the enemy, which is very fitting since he was the judge who oversaw her execution (even if it wasn't his sentence). Lastly in his character demo there is also a foreshadowing of the whale with a crack in space-time at the end.
If Fontaine is this important than Natlan better be 10 times better than cuz that’s the nation I look forward to the most since it’s war. And my name based on Rome is a reference origin of God of war so I feel catered to it.

the rest of the volumes are leaked on honey impact, and apparently the 6 pygmies are evil and come up with a malicious plot against the princess but one pygmy eventually feels guilty and tries to save her instead. since all the archons names (except for the tsaritsa, whose leaked name seems to be barnabas, the name of a saint), are demons from the ars goetia, baal, morax, buer, aym (pyro archon). so i think we can assume that the “good” pygmy is the cryo archon.
I wonder how Sumeru and Lyue even survived if the water raised on Fontaine. Sumeru, Lyue and Mondstat would have been drowned as well. I dont think they thought that through when designing Fontaine.

I love your analysis and conclusions, you are a master chef. Yesterday I thought about of the oceanids, dragons and seelies as the same way when I cheked Osial and Beish desing again to comparing with Neuvillette. And others things I put more attention was for example the Alhaitham constellation and Amon when I notice Vedrfolnir and the dragon's spine wind gliders history. When the visions come to the world after the gnosis and why the god's war started in the past (not only for the forbidden knowledge) later I questioning very hard myself why Surtalogi let it go the narwhal, the real reasons.
And I loved the parallelismn of Oceanus, Fortuna, Tyche, Tetis/Tiamat, Leviathan (both Judaism and Christianity) with the gods of Fontaine

Also Teyvats Moon is ours, you can see it with Lyney holding it in his hand or the Moon behind Raiden, I dunno if this has significance considering in Honkai they moved past Project Stigma but regardless it is our Moon and Hoyo does everything on purpose.

I assume you misspoke here and meant Sal Vindagnyr? Dahri is another name for Khaenri'ah.
The mentioning of the possibility of a giant Hydro Dragon corpse makes me think of the Foggy Forest Path questline.

Theres a problem with this flood destroying Fontaine thingie. Fontaine is in a higher ground than the rest of Teyvat, to flood it like they did ALL of Teyvat should have been flooded along with it. Hoyo messed up with this one and I havent seen anyone talk about that so far.
Fontaine is a large Fountain (yes, pun intended). The Flood is coming from the Primordial Sea inside the elevated plateau itself. Think of it like a container full of liquid to the brim and then you pop the top surface and the water escapes from there.

you said that Seelies and Oceanids are similar in that they both are kind of fairies. Khaenri'ah could be Seelies transformed into humans, while Fontanian's are Oceanids transformed into humans. This has bigger implications. If that book reference the prophecy that means this has happened before, and someone wrote it down in a childrens book in order for Irminsul to not delete it. I feel like Teresrias goal is to revive the third desender now seeing as the Primordial one and the Second Who Came had to team up with the Dragon Sovieneerns (the archons werent a thing yet, and the dragons authority are part of the Gnosises) to resolve whatever the issue was. Since Fontaine was released and I dove into some new deep lore stuff, I realised that Genshin's lore caliber became to overwhelming for me. So much more difficult to take everything in and see from a bird's perspective. It tortures me.

idk if this is an old theory but....the constellations tell the fates of the characters ...all archons constellations are as them selves ..including furina and the wanderer...who both at some point obtained godhood(while furina is the 2nd half of the original archon so it makes sense that her constipation is focalore)

Like imagine, the last Vision of Fontaine is the first one that was directly gifted by a Dragon Sovereign, and it is to answer the wish of someone who sacrificed their humanity and divinity for the sake of others, without knowing whether or not that sacrifice would be worth it in the end.

I feel like you speak a way too fast in parts (in particular the part towards the end of the history of fontaine section), I don't know if youtube still punishes you for crossing into the hour mark and beyond but I felt like you could extend yourself a bit more time to explain things a little more slowly.
