    Great VIDEO! Perfect break down. Great point as well on 1st time shooters. Would love to see H&K make a VP9 compact with a safety for 1st time users as well as for people who love there guns with a safety. That would give the S&W M&P shield a great run for there money due to the cost dropping for a VP9 compact but with the quality that all HK's have.

    I just bought my HK VP9 last week and use it as my conceal and carry gun at the moment. I already ran 200 rds through it and I absolutely love it! I'll be picking up that HK 45 compact for my next conceal carry weapon and then that HK 45.

    Nice job on the comparison many have been waiting on. I had the P30 V3s. Loved the SA trigger pull, the DA not so much. Not a fan of the safety. However there is a lot to love about the P30 so this was my plan. I sold it. Purchased the VP9 LE, came with tritium sights and 3 mags. My opinion, perfection! Following the purchase of the VP9 I purchased the P30 V1 Lite LEM. Also came with tritium sights and 3 mags. I enjoy both immensely. My fellow shooters ask if I needed help, referring to a councilor for my obvious addiction. Hmm, I have multiple guitars, pool cues, cars and guns. Each serves a different style action in what I do, the way I engage the challenge. I don't use just one putter when playing golf. I need options. Hopefully by Tuesday my new P2000sk will arrive. I'm not a collector and my firearms are not sentenced to life in a safe. Love HK.

      Thanks for watching and the support man. The only reason I bought the P30 is it takes P30 mags. I'm happy I did. But I took it out again with the P30 and I love them both. I put more rounds through the VP9 because it isn't at 1,000 yet, but I can honestly say, I still love the P30. The VP9 is an excellent weapon though, I am really starting to love it. Every shot fired is an experience, just like the P30's really. Both are very smooth shooters.

    good vid my friend. I think this will help a lot of people out. I think I told you my buddy (impulsive irrational gun owner LOL) bought the VP9 2mo ago at full retail. Owned it for 4 weeks and traded it away for a P30 (what!?) and then one day at the shop he saw a Colt USMC and just had to have it and right then and there he unholstered, made safe, and traded the P30 for it... no box just the gun and mags...nuts. anyway for some reason he liked the P30 more than the VP9 but he didn't own either model very long so... anyway great comparison vid!

      Man, that guy. I mean, the USMC colt is a great gun and all, but camman. I bet he trades that off in a few months. The P30 is still a great gun, and I love it. All 3 have their place in my inventory though. It's hard to pick, but they're all easy to shoot. I hope this helps people that are looking, but watching it again, I didn't drop any bombs or make super clear places for all of them lol. Thanks for watching man, I always appreciate it.

      navyman8903 TMG here....I took my newly acquire P30s to the range yesterday. I immediately regret selling the VP9. I have exactly 100 rounds through the P30, and I know why I didn't care for the first time I got one. :(

    • @navyman8903
      @navyman8903  Před 9 lety

      Jordan Logan Hey man, I'm sorry to hear about that. The P30 is a gun that you kinda have to grow into, but for some reason it just draws you back. I hated the reset for a while, but as the round count got up there, the trigger got smoother. It still wasn't great in the reset department, but I enjoy shooting it, and can shoot it accurately. I would usually say give it some more trigger time, but after the VP9, I will say it's going to be a very hard transition. I'm sorry it wasn't what you're looking for.

    • @GunRunr88
      @GunRunr88 Před 9 lety

      navyman8903 No worries at all. I think I got a VP9 lined up so all should be good. I agree with you in every aspect. The trigger itself is fine, as in smoothness/pull weight, no problem at all. And I was keeping the rounds in to kill zone one handed at 25 yards. However the reset is just the downfall. I dont think short stroking the trigger is right word, but I wasn't fully letting the trigger reset which really bothered me. I was really hoping it would be similar to the P2000sk but man are they different. I love the P30, it's just not my go to war gun. I took a gamble, and I made the wrong choice :( Live and learn though, and it is still a great gun!

    Great comparison video.
    I went with the VP9 Tactical in the end (and H&K announced the optics ready version the next week lol). I love the nights sights and threaded barrel that came with mine, too bad H&K doesn’t offer them on the P30s.
    I still want a hammer fired polymer frame gun and my list came down to the P30 and the CZ P07 (the IWI Jericho almost made the cut, but the absence of decocker was a deal breaker). How about the controls? How do you compare them between the P30 and the VP9?
    Thanks.

    Should have got a P30L over my VP9. I like my VP9 a lot but the P30 just feels like a better built gun. I also don’t care for striker fires. When I got my VP9 I thought they were way cheaper than the p30s. Then I went on buds after I got my VP9 and found them under $700. I think I saw one for $580. I was so pissed. I’ll keep my VP9 and use it as a truck gun and pick up a P30l later on. Right now I need to focus on paying off my HK45CT! So excited!

    I'm looking at buying a P30L and already own a P30S V3 with the ambi safety. I see your P30L has a safety so if you had to buy it over again, do you mind having the safety? I'm concerned that with my thumbs forward grip, the P30L slide lever will be in the way of my support thumb. I ride my strong hand thumb on top of the safety lever on my P30 for a fast reference point. Whats your opinion on buying P30L with or without safety? Safety version is cheaper right now....Awesome HK vids, you helped my decision in buying P30.

    I just got offered VP9 for my Sig 1911 Nitron railed. In CA with the single shot exemption you SOL with getting anything new anymore. So people are flipping new HKs (45,45c,P30's, VP9s), Glock gen 4s, etec... VP9s are going for $850-$1050. I feel the 1911 is sweet but I feel the VP9 is something extremely hard to get, more functional, and importantly more reliable with all type of ammo. Plus my new HK45 dethroned the Sig 1911 for me anyways. I guess I am picking up the VP9 tomorrow.

I know what everybody says, keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to destroy something, but under extreme stress you never know. I'm certain that there are many more AD's with a hair trigger like the PPQ. I'm curious how the SA pull is compared to the VP9 or PPQ.

      @Nuance Visual I was just about to say this. I had a P30 at first and loved it. The trigger and the reset could be better, but it's a solid firearm. I got the VP9 last year and loved it when it worked. However, I also kept having problems with it going into battery. Had the slide lock on me once during a failure to eject. Sent it back to HK for repair and it was much better, but I still had issues with it going into battery twice. Some people had issues with the slide release if they're used to riding the slide, but I don't consider that an issue. The VP9 might be a better gun when it works, but the P30 never failed me in 11 years.

Took it out and put 20 rounds through it using a 20 round mag from HK Parts (factory) of Blazer Brass 115g, and one round didn’t go off about 5 shots in. Tap, rack, and the round fell out, with a strike on the primer that was on the edge, not in the center like the rest. I fired the remaining rounds through without issue.

    When disassembling the P30, try locking the slide back first, then let it ease forward to the take down position.
    After about 500 rounds with the P30, I find I can shoot fairly tight groups. HK could have had a VP9 like trigger on the P30. They intended it for combat style performance. The VP9 trigger is better only at the range.

      I've started doing that recently actually with the P30's. It's a good tip, thanks for posting it. I've got over 3,000 rounds through both of the P30's I have, and they are tack drivers. The trigger reset is literally my only serious issue with the P series guns. The VP9 trigger is a solid overall trigger. I am a DA/SA or LEM kind of guy. Just like that hammer performance. Thanks for watching, and the feedback. I appreciate it.

    By the way, if you had a choice between a P226 MK25 vs. a HK45C, both broken in and custom tailored the way you like it, which would you choose and why?

    • @navyman8903
      @navyman8903  Před 9 lety

      ***** That's a tough one man. The HK45c only because I can use it for literally everything, but the P226 is excellent at everything but Concealed Carry. You can conceal it, but it's not going to be as sweet as the HK45c. You can get a Threaded barrel, and 10 rounders for the HK45c to help adapt it for serious use. That's a hard decision though man. They're both solid. In fact, you've picked the two sidearms of the US NAVY SEALS. So....you've narrowed it down quite nicely.

    • @bsteiny16
      @bsteiny16 Před 9 lety

      Yep. Both excellent. I've held a SIG Pro P2340 and its grip is just as wide as a P226. I always thought I had small hands, but I was wrong. I found that I was easily able to wrap my entire hand around it, reach the trigger, and eat some fried chicken. Kidding about the last part, unfortunately. :( Anyway, I love the P30L the most of all mainly because it is more customizable than the 45, has less recoil, 5 more rounds, and is friggin' badass. If only they would put it in a video game. Oh well. I'll settle for buying it when I can afford it in a couple years. I'm about to turn 18, and I really enjoy shooting. :) I just wish I could go to the range more. Whatever. Thanks for the input!

    If you could only keep the P30 or P30L which stays?

    • @navyman8903
      @navyman8903  Před 9 lety +2

      ***** That's a tough one honestly. I parted with the P30, then bought another one. I thought I could get by with the P30L and the VP9, but I ended up back with the P30 anyway. If you have both, and absolutely had to pick one, I'd take the one that covers all your bases. You can use the standard P30 for literally everything. CCW, Home Defense, Range, and car gun. The P30L isn't difficult to conceal for a full size handgun, so my over all suggestion is, use the biggest one you can for everything. Because they're both pretty close, if you can get away with using the L for CCW, then I'd definitely do it for the extended sight radius and barrel length. I think they compliment each other well. The P30 is a fine weapon, and the most balanced overall, the P30L is just as good honestly, but a slightly larger package. I hope this helps.

    • @mikhailmars8979
      @mikhailmars8979 Před 9 lety

      I've only shot the P30 and I thought it was perfectly balanced and soft and flat as hell. But I always read about how the 30L is even moreso. And outside of the trigger, though I really like a LEM trigger, I feel it outshoots the VP9. I've got a 30SK on preorder and am torn on the 30 or 30L to go with it. I can't find a 30L anywhere to shoot though. This is where you're gonna say, "just get em all." Right?
