This was after Roy had passed. He didn't really have the opportunity to fully experience his renewed popularity, but thankfully in large part to his Wilbury brothers, his final album, "Mystery Girl" was one his greatest successes!! 💕
Just curious if you 2 ever went back and watched USA for Africa over again. How many of the stars would you know Now after you 2 have done so many reactions.
Theres a song on their first album called Tweeter anx the Monkey Man written as a bit of parody of Soringsteen that actually was a song Bruce played in his own concerts.
@@oakhillfound847 I once counted the number of Bruce titled songs referenced in "Tweeter". If i remember correctly it was nine. Pretty sure Bruce took all in stride 😄
@@oakhillfound847 Canadian group Headstones does a good cover as well czcams.com/video/6fBd32vg3As/video.html they also cover Gordan Lightfoot's The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald of course nobody compares to Gordan but it is a faster version . As well by them - Cemetery czcams.com/video/bINZoJTuy4o/video.html
Being from New Jersey tweeter, and the monkey Man was one of my favorite songs to play with my band in the 90s. Still love to play it. It’s a very Dylanesque type song not surprisingly it was written by Dylan and Petty. (It’s got a Tangled up in Blue vibe) Bad ass!! My favorite Wilburys song on either album not written by George Harrison.
The drummer is Jim Keltner, a good friend of George's and he played on dozens of his songs. While not an official "Wilbury" he played drums on both albums.
As you may know, Keltner was/is a much in demand session drummer. Starting off in jazz. He was elected to the RRHOF in 2014!
"Josie" is my favorite Keltner jam; so smooth.
He also played most, if not all, of their solo albums.
Jim Keltner was asked (First by George then by all the members) to be a official member of the Willburys since he was the drummer on every song but Keltner in his great modesty said no to it. He said this band is supposed to be represented as a traveling Guitar band, it wouldn’t be right for me to be an official member.
Yeah, Keltner is brilliant. He was the session drummer on Pink Floyds "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" album as well, he's just fantastic.
So much talent in that room , but no egos. Just solid respect for each other and they look like they are having a ball.
Traveling Wilburys The All Stars of Rock! Don't forget Jeff Lynn!! Everyone can tell these artist love playing together!!
They truly were remarkable. It was a treat and a real joy to listen to them. Yes. Roy Orbison was part of the group but died.
Jeff Lynne production written all over this one, and we can only admire it.
George Harrison is the person playing the riffs you like so much. George Harrison is the best player. His idea for this super group was great!!!!!!!
Interesting trivia: the Wilburys only recorded two albums, but named them Volume I and Volume III, just to prank fans. Best supergroup ever!
Just a bunch of friends playing and having fun...no ego or attitude. Find the documentary about how they got together and the music process.
I LOVE the Traveling Wilburys!!! I miss those who have passed on.
The Wilburys are always fun to listen to. If you want a good song with Dylan on lead, I'd go with "Tweeter and the Monkey Man". For a good one with Petty on lead, I'd go with "Last Night".
For Dylan I'd say "Congratulations"
Congratulations and Tweeter are good choices!
Tweeter & the Monkey Man is a great Bob story song. Absolutely love it!
Tweeter is a Springsteen spoof
There’s a 20 or 30 minute documentary video on CZcams about how The Traveling Wilburys came to be, and the making of their first album. Really cool story, you should check it out! They really admired each other’s talents, and it all shows through. So sad that Roy Orbison passed away after the first album recording session. The others in the group were in awe of his voice!
Great idea!
So soon seeing them hang and write songs…they were staying in Dave Stewarts(Eurythmics)house
Wilbury's "Last Night" is a great story song and it features Petty and Orbison!
Wow, and you can actually understand the words Bob is singing! Great song!
Your other favorite band ELO was founded by Jeff Lynne. 🔥 Legendary group of guys here. 👍💕
Ok, you named 5 icons, but there were actually 6 iconic musicians, you can never, ever forget fellow Oklahoman, Buster Sidebury aka Jim Keltner, you've probably heard his drumming more than all of the other artists in this group combined
If you know the name, you know the fame. ✌️
There are actually 7 iconic musicians here. Gary Moore is playing guitar on this song, but he's not in the video.
A group of true GOATS !
The killer solo guitar is the great Gary Moore. Wish he could have been in the video, too. Every song on “Wilbury’s 3” (their 2nd album😂), is fantastic. All of the members shine - & it’s probably the most awesome, hilarious Bob Dylan you’ll ever hear! ❤🎸
Next song to check out: The Wilbury Twist. Fun song, fun video.
Yes, 1 member missing Roy Orbinson passed . He's a Legend, he is missed but not forgotten....
Tom Petty is there, he has passed away as well, missed & not forgotten.
I'd like to recommend, in honor of Roy Orbison, "Only The Lonely" a classic by a classy man!
My very favorite TW song is "Tweeter and the Monkey Man" written by Dylan and Petty. "Tweeter and the Monkey Man" is sometimes regarded as a playful homage to the songs of Bruce Springsteen, who was often hailed as "the next Dylan" early in his career. Put it next on your list.
Imagine how this would have sounded if Roy Orbison had still been around.
The Brothers Wilbury are the absolute best! ❤❤ Thank you for reacting to this!!! This was such a great album!!
Roy Orbison died 2 years before this video was made, so probably not... But this song might be named after Roy's original version called "You're My Baby" from 1961.
Gary Moore played lead guitar on this song. I didn’t think George or Jeff could play like that. He had a great catalog of blues and hard rock songs. “Still got the blues”, “The Loner”, “Out in the Fields” with Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy sharing vocals and an incredible cover of “Shapes of Things”. Also “Parisienne Walkways” is a slow kind of ballad and a unique solo
Jeff Lynne of ELO fame is the Wilbury so many people don't seem to recognize, but he's integral to the sound.
One of my favorite supergroups. Again, a song I haven't heard in years and years. Thank you.
I appreciate that your youth has come to love “our” generation. It’s a total pleasure to watch your progression. Thank you for letting us know that the appreciation is not dead. It truly WAS a beautiful time. (Loosing Roy was a blow. He loved this return to popularity.)
Rest In Peace, . . Roy Orbison, . . . George Harrison, . . . Tom Petty . . . . We Miss You All Gentlemen . . .
Thank You For All Of Your Wonderful Music, Guitar Playing, And Song Writing . . .
R.I.P. Amazing Musicians, And Singers . . .
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne (E.L.O., Traveling Wilburys), Steve Windwood (Traffic, Blind Faith), Dhani Harrison (George's son) and the Purple One himself PRINCE. They cover George Harrison's (The Beatles) "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Prince's guitar solo is a masterpiece! Jay and Amber, you must listen to one. You got to give the people what they want!
If you want more Wilbury related stuff, please react to Jeff Lynne, Tom, Petty, Paul McCartney, and others performing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" in a tribute to George Harrison. Prince has a special treat for you.
From the greatest ever great song and see the enjoyment from each of them no egos ❤ thanks guys😊
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Heading for the Light"!!!!
Beautiful song
Gotta give props to Jim Keitner, the drummer. One of the best session drummers EVER!
Love them all, especially George. I think he finally got to shine for his talent that he didn't get to show as much in the Beatles
He was the first Beatle to have a #1 single.
Another super group you need to hear. As far as I know, they only did one. It was a tribute to George Harrison featuring his son Dahni, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynn, Steve Winwood and the iconic Prince!
Amazing combination of talent in this group. They got together for fun because they liked and respected each other. The fun spread to millions of fans. Too bad there were only two albums with a total of 25 songs. It looks like you have 21 more to go. This one is the one that gets me moving the most. Try the video for Wilbury Twist next and do the dance. Also see how many people you can recognize who dropped in for a few seconds in the spotlight. Another great one is Tweeter And The Monkey Man. It tells a story.
Do "Tweeter and the Monkey Man" by the Wilburys. It's a fun song.
FYI--That is Gary Moore who plays the amazing guitar solo on this track. He was neighbor, and good friend of Harrison, in London.
Don't forget about Jeff Lynne...the lead of E L O!
Roy Orbison was a member of The Traveling Wilbury's They really missed him
For four more very different T .Wilbury songs, please listen to "Not Alone Anymore", a beautiful Roy Orbison-centered song, "Inside Out", "Wilbury Shuffle", and "Tweeter and the Monkey Man", a Bob Dylan centered song. Enjoy! Can't get enough Traveling Wilburys songs!
RINGO did the same thing with his "All-star Band"! The Roster is constantly changing with Even Tom Petty playing at one point!
George and Ringo had the Right Idea... "Let's find out who's in town and wants to get together for a Jam session". Could you even Imagine if Paul and John had followed this concept as well?
Paul could've had his "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and John's "Plastic Ono Band" might've really taken a better turn! At One point, they all might've intersected and said "What the Heck, it's about the Music".
Wilbury Twist is a fun one by them. I also love New Blue Moon.
Amber talked about these amazing independent artists coming together and knowing what to do. Do you know why? Because Jeff Lynne (ELO) is orchestrating it all. That's his specialty. He's the guy with the beard and dark shades who started the song off.
Love this group!! Wish Roy could have been around for the whole span of the band
All amazing icons..Great in every way..But if we had to pick a favorite, its Jeff Lynne for me
Yall for sure need to hear Syeve Martin with the Deep Canyon Rangers...what a treat! Fantastic wild bluegrass.
THE DRUMMER WAS ( JIMMY KELTNER ) JAY AND AMBER 😊, HE PLAYED WITH ALOTTTT OF MUSICIANS AND MANYYYYY TIMES WITH ( NEIL YOUNG ) 😊
Great song. Great reaction. Awesome group! Love it!
You NEED to listen to the Wilbury Twist. 100% pure fun. Great video with great cameos, too.
Poor House, You Took My Breath Away, Last Night, Dirty World, Rattled, Cool Dry Place are great tunes to start a Wilbury journey with. P.S. there are more.
Love the Traveling Wilburys. They were a fantastic group. Love your channel guys. You always have the greatest music. ❤️👍🥰
If Roy Orbison had still been alive they all would have gladly given up the mic to him. His “star had fallen” but he was held in such high regard by these legends in their own right, that when he sang in rehearsals, they would all pause to listen to him. With their support and Jeff Lynne producing, he was just able to release one last big album that became one of his biggest hits. Add to that the “Pretty Woman” movie using his song, not just for the title. And his duet with kd lang for the remake of his song Crying, is highly underrated.
Legends coming together for the love of music, and just having a really good time!
Best supergroup of all time.
Love seeing the difference in your reaction from the first time you watched the TW's.
Now you've seen more of each of the artists separately.
The Traveling Wilburys - Wilbury Twist
A must listen.
This is a fantastic song, thank you for reacting to it!! Love George's lead guitar!!
It was actually Gary Moore (RIP) who played lead on this song. I love George’s lead guitar playing but he could never have played some of those runs.
@@bluesdog645 As good of a guitarist as George was, he was never great.
I imagine them playing this for hours on end, then picking the middle few minutes they allow us to hear.
Yeah! Great stuff! Glad you liked it. Yeah, missed Roy's voice. George Harrison, "Living In The Material World"! Thanks guys.
R.I.P. to Wilbury's ...Roy, Tom, and George....I often wonder what other gems the gents would have given us.
Also, who would be great Wilbury's.....Jim Morrison, Terry Kath, and Johnny Cash.....hmmmmmm?
Peace and love to all
🙏❤️😎🇨🇦
This band and this song is literally a dream come true. I always like to hear Bob take the lead for a minute.
I remember George Harrison was being interviewed and asked what he thought John Lennon would think of the Wilburys, and George said He'd be on the phone begging to be in the Wilburys LOL
Peace from PA ✌️
These legends never disappoint. Each album is one good song after another. Each member takes turns on lead. Love that heavy guitar sound on this one. This reminds me of The Black Keys, a very good band to check out. Eg Lonely Boy, Gold on the Ceiling. And Dan Auerbach’s solo tune Shine on Me sounds like it could have been a Wilburys or ELO track.
"Tweeter and the Monkey Man" is a Bob Dylan song the Willburys did but, but THE HEADSTONES do such a good cover, so good.
Jeff Lynn.... Isnt he just fabulous? Well, tbf they all are/were. A SUPER Group for sure. ❤🎼🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙❤
Gary Moore was on lead guitar, George Harrison asked him to drop in and lay down some lead guitar for the track, he took it to another level, as usual.
You're Not Alone by this group with Roy Orbison was really a great performance.
I love the Wilburys, and this is an under the radar favorite.
You know !!! when they did this i hA🥲D NO IDEA THEY DID THIS I WAS TO HIGH IN THE 80,S AT 55 I LOVE WHAT THEY DID
Only 2 Wilburys remain.
RIP George Harrison, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty
INFO: Havent seen much of the 80's songs so wasnt sure if you had many recommendations, here are some songs which really symbolised the 80's, Bronski Beat - hit that perfect beat, pet shop boys - heart, dead or alive - you spin me around, slade - run away, kane gane - respect yourself, the bangles - walk like an egyptian, marilyn - calling your name
IF you like Dylans writing check out the Wilbury song Tweeter and the Monkey man. George said Dylan wrote it in a few minutes in the kitchen and was amazed at how fast he could write a song.
The late great Gary Moore on lead guitar. You need to listen to Gary Moore's "Still Got The Blues".
THEY JUST MADE 2 GREAT ALBUMS OF SONGS OF ROCK MUSIC YOU GUYS! 😊
Maybe you can add to your future reactions the documentary telling the real story about this band, not very long and it's called 'Traveling Wilburys - The True History Of The Traveling Wilburys Documentary' very worth to see and appreciate the way this band was formed just by an unplanned chance.
This is a good ole straight up rock song. If you haven't already listened to it, I recommend "Handle With Care" by the Traveling Wilburys.
I remember seeing their volume 1 in the store when it was first released and I had not heard about it ahead of time, and I though 'wait a minute, I recognize these guys.' Easily the best album of 1988 and although I know they never intended to ever tour as a group, I thought it would be the tour of the decade. Sad to think only Bob and Jeff are left with us.
And please don't forget the drummer "Buster Sidebury" Jim Keltner. He played drums on all their songs and is still with us.
Ha! I remember seeing Vol. 3 in the store and being really excited as I did not know there would be any more Wilburys. I bought it immediately, and of course began searching excitedly for Vol. 2. Am I the only one?
Would of toured if the man who put the band together( George Harrison) wanted it. (And all I’m going to write comes from
Endless articles and research I’ve done on George Harrison over the last 35 years so I have no opinions of my own) In the mid 90s George answered about there never was a Willbury’s tour in the same way he answered with the Beatles never being able to tour again saying there could never be a true traveling Wilburys tour with out Roy Orbison. All the other members would of toured, as all the other members loved touring. George’s bad taste from being on the road came from
Every experience he ever had touring from 1964 (Shea stadium im was a mess) from Not being able to hear himself and the other Beatles play ove the screaming crowd with the Beatles, to Alan Klein stealing the money made after George put together the 1st charity all-stsr concert with the concert for Bangladesh, to his 1974 solo world tour, where he lost his voice, and the crowd was booing his best friend Ravi Shankar’s sitar infused Indian music part of the concert (which pissed Harrison off to no end) to not long after making the traveling Wilburys volume three Eric Clapton convinced George into touring Japan in 1991 as Eric convinced him by saying, he will back m him with his own band Eric’s Band) which George loved. But by the end of the 1991 tour Eric who partly did this favor for George to do a davie for himself to get far away with his buddy (from where Eric was living mostly in NYC at time) to distract his mind as much as he could from both the horrible sudden death of his 5 year old son Conner from falling out of his high rise penthouse window, to also Eric now becoming newly totally sober after quitting alcohol in he late 80s. And from George being on edge from touring and Eric doing his friend a favor Eric felt George was not appreciating him enough this led to some bickering which Eric later addressed this rumor as true but he said it was just like 2 close brothers having a small spat. And they made up either at end of tour or just after tour was done. So George’s last try at touring did not go well either. All this really continued to discourage George’s feelings towards touring more and more. And just the point that Orbison wasn’t around anymore after the making of the 1st album. George put this band together just cause he loved nothing more to just hang out and play music with his friends. Orbison passing away to George was the same reason why there could never be in his mind a Beatles reunion tour-without John and despite by 1994 when the 3 remaining Beatles got together and did the Beatles anthology which out of that came 2 new great Beatles songs in 1995, (being the lawsuit of Paul McCartney Vs the 3 Beatles was then over and they were all getting along again.) In George’s mind no true Beatles tour could ever happpen cause John was gone
For the same reason no true Willburys tour could never be made because Orbison was gone, but he had no problem, making a second album because he loved playing with his friends, but he was the only one who did not like touring of them all. And George’s main reasons for not touring with the 2 bands he was ever in you I feel you have to respect
He if was going to be away it was going to be with his family, it’s not like he needed the money.
Check out their song "Poor House".

The first time I heard Tom Petty, I heard the Bob Dylan influence in his voice and lyrics. I've been fortunate to see both of them more than once.
This is just pure rock n roll. So loose and dirty/gritty. Awesome!
They made two videos for this album, this one and "Inside Out". From what I can tell, they were both filmed on the same day. It's also an excellent song as well.
"Wilbury Twist" video had John Candy in it! By all means, put both Wilbury albums on your playlist, there isn't a dud in the entire lot. Albums are called "Volume 1" and "Volume 3".. there isn't a Vol 2 bc the guys are silly. Roy Orbison had a solo song called "Not Alone Any More" with the Wilburys backing him that is breathtaking!
Watch on CZcams: Traveling Wilburys - The True History Of The Traveling Wilburys Documentary. It's a very intimate docu with a camcorder. You really get the sense of awe they had for each other. Tom was the youngest looking up to everyone, and everyone revered Roy. It's really sweet.
I'll tell you something. I used to drink and party and run them women if they're not. I have a fine lock, you know? Next day, when I'm reminiscent of somebody. I'm always saying last night
@@allendixon7700 Sounds like you meant to reply to someone else talking about the song "Last Night". That wasn't me though. lol
One of my favorite Wilburys tunes is Rattled from the first album. Jeff Lynn and Roy Orbison are great on that. Also, Last Night, which is Tom Petty an Roy, and Tweeter & the Monkey Man, which is all Bob Dylan.
Jay and Amber i love this and have the CD the second album from The Travelling Wilburys. Roy Orbison passed away before while the album was being made and appear in any songs. Roy Orbison died after their first album.
Love that you reacted to this! Love the Wilbury's. They all were good friends. For a good Wilbury tune by Dylan listen to Tweeter and the Monkey Man.
Who would have thunk it, you put a band together and Tom Petty is on bass🤯🤯🤯
They are having SO MUCH FUN! Good friends composing and playing music for the pure joy of it. Meeting only their own expectations.
Big fan of u 2, and got something a little different. A born blind gentleman named Clarence Carter. His biggest hit was one of my teenage friends’ favorite song. If it wasn’t 4 him, I would’ve never heard it. The track is “Patches”. Now I’m not saying that Clarence is in James Earl Jones league in regard to telling a story, but I gotta say, his impact in telling the story of Patches reminded me of the one and only JEJ. Check it out. I think you’ll find it to be a very moving rendition. Be well and keep being You!
More Wilbur's, "The Devil's Been Busy", "The Wilbury Twist", and "Cool Dry Place". All fun songs. Some Dylan would be nice, "Leopard-Skin-Pillbox-Hat" and "Absolutely Sweet Marie". Plenty more. Roy Orbison has passed by this time and two songs by him you would like are "California Blue" and "Windsurfer".
Roy Orbison was with them for the first album and he sadly passed away before the second album.
Also,It looks like they're having real fun 😊
Mr. Tom Petty jammin' on the bass, the instrument he played in his first band Mudcrutch.
Never heard this before and I loved it
Good stuff! Traveling Wilbury’s are my happy music group.
Roy Orbison was a Taveling Wilbury on the first album. He died before they did the 2nd one.
Absolutely worth checking out! Try Handle With Care next! It’s got the great Roy Orbison vocal on it.
This is a real great banger this song. A pity that Roy wasn't there. However he was probably watching
