  • Oil & Filter change videos are some of the most popular on my Andy Mechanic channel, so, given my WR450F was so long overdue it's first service & the fact I'm heading down to the South Island in a couple of days for a 4 day trail ride, I knew filming the process would be helpful to a number of fellow riders....
The process for an oil change on this 2013 bike is a little more complex than most, it's important to drain the old engine oil from both the left & rear of engine to ensure as much of the old oil is removed.
This video covers the type of engine oil required, the genuine Yamaha part numbers for the oil filter & various O-rings that should be replaced. You'll also need a couple of copper washers for the sump bung bolts too but unfortunately we were out of stock the day I gathered up the service pack.
If you have any questions or comments then please add them below & I'll get back to you just as soon as I can.

The best oil change video for Yamaha on CZcams. Applaud you for not forgetting to make mention of the oil pressure check bolt near the cylinder head.

When you say make sure oil doesn't come out from the dip stick that's not right according to the manual its from the check bolt. Not the oil tank cap. It's located near the gear lever just under the sprocket.

Make sure oil does not come out of the dipstick hole & make sure it DOES come out of the bleed screw on the cylinder head.
      Hope this helps

Changing my oil for the first job one on same bike and it took 2 1/4 quarts of oil … I thought it is only one quart. Must be doing something wrong. The oil comes to the marks on the dip stick while car is level
