I live near the equator, where we c get huge tropical rain storms, streets get flooded all the time and 85% of the cars are Toyotas. We hardly ever see cars breaking down due to the water.

Vauxhall have smashed the design on the corsa air intake. Even when driven by a total melt they sill seem to get through and carry on.

Why is it so hard for people to drive much slower through the water and not splash it into the engines Inlet.. Much deeper water where i am & never had any issues

As a German i'm so baffled by this because in our Driving Tests we get this Lesson hammered into our Mind, not only that the Engine will flood if Water gets into the Front Intaes but in general to never drive through any Water that isn't a normal sized Puddle from normal Rain.
I don't know how thorough and difficult it is to get a License in Britain, i know it's way too easy in the USA, so i'm not surprised by Videos like this from the USA but surprised this is so common in Britain (or at least in that Area)
Where i live in the Bavarian Alps we have a ton of such Fords everytime it rains and i have never ever seen anyone try to drive through them, People instead just take another Route even if the other Route will take an extra 30 Minutes.
I bet there is a different Route People could take in this Area as well or is there absolutely no way around?

There's another route here and it doesn't add much onto a journey. Many blindly follow their sat navs and just find themselves at the ford.
I passed my driving test first time over 30 years ago. I think it lasted around half an hour where I had to drive on the outskirts of Nottingham through a few biggish junctions, different speed limits, a hill start and a turn in the road. Luckily I lived on a hilly cul de sac so every lesson I started on a hill (as I lived halfway up it) and returning from each lesson, I would do a 3 point turn at the bottom and then I'd pull off up the hill to stop outside my house, so I had no issues whatsoever. When my examiner asked me to stop on a road called Grassington Road in Nottingham and then instructed me to do a turn in the road using forward and reverse gears (aka a 3 point turn) I couldn't believe what he was asking of me, the road was SO WIDE, I could have turned a 7.5 ton lorry round there 😂 I knew I'd passed, my drive was faultless. Back then there was no theory test but I was asked a few questions when I returned to the test centre.
I believe there should be a classroom element to driving lessons as well as it being incorporated into the test along with the theory and practical elements.
If there was a classroom element then education could be given regarding driving through water, aquaplaning etc, damage caused to cars etc. It could also be used to give tuition into motorway driving and also teach courtesy on the roads. Increasing numbers of young people show arrogance on the roads.
Most of them would be fine if they went through slow and steady instead of accelerating through.
But Germany is a sensible country with people who have common sense.

I was always taught to drive very slowly in, letting the water settle, build a bow wave ahead of the car and then drive moderately slowly but steadily making sure the bow wave is in front of you and water is not sloshing over the bonnet.

Not surprised at all about the RR Evoque. They aren’t made for this driving, even though they claim they are. Funny how the Ford car got further before stopping.

0:00 The engine of the first car probably broke permanently. The air intake is below the front of the hood in new cars, if water gets into the engine through the air intake, the engine breaks down mechanically and the engine is unlikely to be repaired. Expensive repair if you have to buy a new engine.

I'm a few hours south but it's 22:00 & 13°C at the mo (warm night for Autumn) with 18°C during the day. Last Sunday was a beautiful day, absolutely cloudless & 20°C.
Good to see that the charity 'The British Red Cross' treat vehicles bought with money raised for 'good causes' with such respect. Not. They very nearly needed to shake the collection tins to buy a new engine for that Transit.

Hi Patrik, hope you're well. I read an article earlier explaining this exact incident about the ford. It said that the water in could easily evaporate all the hotness, thus allowing it to show white smoke, which in most cases isn't bad. (Apologies if this isn't correct, I couldn't find the article while tryna write this.) Take care!
