It looks like that Ranger is a bit different, the 3.2 drawers air from the top of the air box, so even if water gets in the box it shouldn't get drawn into the intake unless the water depth is up to that point. If you attempt water that high then you deserve what you get!

I remember taking a work ute over a flooded bridge in remote west Queensland. I was working alone and I could see another guy (random member of the public) on the other side of creek who had made it. He waved me over and I went for it. The water was flowing fast and over the bonnet, but the ute kept it's footing and slowly I made my way other. In hindsight, bad idea, but it would of added several hours to the drive to find another way over. That was a dmax without a snorkel.

edit: found info on web.... If the cylinder block is made of cast iron, and you pour cold water on over heated engines, there are possibilities of producing cracks on blocks.

    • @MrGoat73

It’s a river that crosses a road, it’s been like that for a lifetime. The big yellow ruler at the edge shows the water depth. In warmer weather at low water level, almost every car will get through. After rain, it’s naturally much deeper, so just turn round & go the long way round! It’s really simple!
