- A group that calls themselves 'Save Southern Heritage' flew a banner and Confederate flag over TIAA Bank Field on Sunday ahead of the Jaguars game.
Keep the monuments up and keep the flag flying.

Before and throughout the entire Civil War slaves, who were owned by Ulysses S. Grant’s wife Julia Dent, worked at Ulysses S. Grant’s White Haven home in Missouri, a Union slave state. I am against slavery. If the Civil War was started over the issue of slavery, why did President Lincoln choose Ulysses S. Grant to be his top general? Captain David Camden De Leon, a Jewish physician, was the first surgeon general of the Confederate States of America. I therefore find it strange that the CSA flag has become associated with that red flag with the black swastika in the middle. In 1862 General Grant issued Order No. 11 which ordered the expulsion of Jews living in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Missouri. As far as I know, General Robert E. Lee never ordered the expulsion of Jews living within the Confederacy and General Robert E. Lee’s slaves were freed in 1862. I do not know why some people associate statues of General Lee and the Confederate flag with antisemitism. Many Confederate soldiers were Jewish. I never hear about people protesting the presence of statues of General Grant because of his antisemitic Grant Order No. 11. A number of times in the past I have voted for African-American candidates at various Duval County Florida polling/voting sites. If I am/was a racist, why would I find myself voting for African-Americans? I am not a racist.
I think ignorance can be found in plain sight and u r absolutely right the War between the States (more commonly known as the Civil War) was not about slavery especially since both sides had slaves. It reminds me of the swastika, which is an old Buddhist symbol and even some Native American Indian tribes use it. The Nazi party took a perfectly decent symbol and corrupted it so now most people identify it with hate or anti-Semitism. People's minds have seem to have gotten so entangled that they cant even see the obvious and just want to make mischief. Glad u have a mind to see beyond all the propaganda that they're shoveling down our gullets. 1💜

Hitler is a part of German history but you you don't see monuments to him or the Nazis there.
Traitors and losers belong in history books, not on a monument or other place of honor.
It's a shameful part of our history unless it recognizes the damages done to the lives of those who had no rights at that time, and that includes white women, who were also considered property; and a promise to never return to such brutal times.

It didn't really make national news when Jacksonville took that monument down, unlike when they were removed in New Orleans. I'm glad this happened, because now that I know that Jacksonville has started removing monuments, I can add it to the list of places that I will NEVER visit, or do business in, until the monuments are ALL back up in their ORIGINAL locations!

@@ramseyranch5053 While that would be preferable to the monuments being destroyed, it is not good enough. Military parks usually already have many monuments of their own, I've heard it said that these moving these monuments to battlefield parks is akin to "preaching to the choir". Putting them in local cemeteries may be slightly better, since they usually remain closer to their original locations. My own county's Confederate monument has ALWAYS been in the local cemetery, since it was erected so early that the Reconstruction authorities were still in charge and wouldn't allow it to be placed on the Court Square, but still amounts to their being lessened for the sake of a political correctness which I reject.

@@ronb6182 If you haven’t noticed, the blacks ARE erecting their own statues & monuments, and there’s a new black park opening every week! They took down the statue of Robert E. Lee & other Confederate statues and put up black heritage statues in their place. They have George Floyd statues & parks all over now. I find it very upsetting that Americans have set George Floyd up as a hero! This man was a felon, drug user, etc. not your upstanding American citizen, he was not a hero. His family has been given millions of dollars, why? We should have said no after the first riot and the first statue torn down. We no longer have an American history! And about the other things you expressed, I am a combat Army Veteran, I fought for your right to say what you want, but at the same time I fought (and was wounded) for MY right to say what I want, so don’t shit on my parade!
