The raw sewage problem never been solved. Tijuana did not operate the water plant that the USA built for them. I guess that they expected the 🇺🇸 to provide the labor fist tot unit as well. Nothing staffed at all. So they did not keep up their end of the deal. Go figure💁🏽

We used to ride sand toys at Buttercup dunes 18 miles west of the Arizona/California border, there are the large metal border walls in many spots, but some spots the only thing is a plastic stake in the sand that says "Unites States of America on one side and Republic of Mexico on the other, we on one occasion came back to camp from there and were surrounded by a dozen border patrol vehicles who had been watching us be drone, we did nothing wrong, but they thought they observed some sort of drug smuggling or something, nothing like that happened. Those dunes are heavily patrolled by the border patrol because it would be really easy to come into the US by sand vehicle and blend in with all the campers and such enjoying the dunes.

I was wondering if this was south of IB. We called this area the slews. We would ride our motorcycles out there. I lived off 9th street behind the Police Station. Went to elementary school west of the library. Remember the HS was beside it. There was a swimming pool there we used in the summers. Went to school at a Junior HS east of 9th street by a Catholic school. Left IB around 74 for the Midwest and never been back. Been wanting to go back and check it out. There is a school friend that still lives there in IB from that time.

He has a whole series on his channel that is extremely informative. As a matter of fact, I think every school should be made to watch so they can learn the real issues that are going on and the trickle down problems associated with border issues. I used to hear CBP communications over a year ago quite often. They were mainly focused on southern AZ and would give coordinates. It was hella remote parts of the border. They would capture a decent number of them on their ATVs and I think horses. Most of the transmissions were encrypted but a fair amount was in the clear and networked into Phoenix metro. I haven’t really heard them lately, so they’ve switched to other comms (full encryption or simplex only). Always sounded rather routine and mundane however.

I grew up there and walked those trails many times back in the 80's Yes, MANY people died there. My friends and I used to catch frogs in that concrete swimming pool @20:00 There was a 1940's era truck in it back then. I'm sure it was a swimming pool of some kind because there was also a house that was dilapidated back then. Those houses in Tijuana are dumping their raw sewage right over in to The US for US to clean up. There is a International Wastewater Treatment plant further up, but that new development seems to bypass it entirely. That area you filmes is known as Smuggler's Gulch. There used to be some decorative driveway entrances all along that road in to the Border Field State Park. The US Government has acquired many of the ranches that used to be there. We used to be able to walk all along the old fence from the gates at the levy where the treatment plant is now all the way to the ocean.

this was a problem all over the usa but they are now closing the combined sewer outlets around where I live. they have been spending the last 10 years or so welding outlets shut and adding lift stations

It is sad that Friendship Park is closed. They are claiming pollution, but the truth is the Federal government doesn't like US citizens being so close to the border. To me it is sad because that is public land and we are not being allowed to use it.

The Mexico side of Friendship border park is way open, you can go right up to the wall in Mexico. I go to Playas de Tijuana (the otherside) all the time. I should do a video. 😂

How awesome border patrol didn't take the time to harass you!
What a shame so much public property is unaccessible to the American public, and so much of it is accessible with a fee.
I live in the southwest and it shows this land was indeed Mexico at one point. Borders get blurry

It was interesting to follow you on Google earth. I wouldn't expect much attempted border crossing in this area, with an overt border patrol presence. Looking at the comments, there are a LOT of other areas, specifically southeastern California, Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico where even armed incursions happen.

I appreciated the ability to see something I haven't seen before... That said, I somehow think if you were to walk right up to the fence from the other side being clearly from ANY other country they would roll out the red carpet and hand you a credit card and whatever else you wanted. They aren't exactly enforcing ANY border restrictions in This Country right now. They are just trying to look busy.
