The most likely scenario to me seems to be that he thought he was an equal partner in all of this and that the bomb was fake but in reality he was a scapegoat.
What about the scuffle tho? I think he was either friends or thought he was Marjorie's lover and initially was involved in some way but wasn't aware of the full plan and they changed the plan on him the last minute, so he tried to bail out of it. Maybe the plan was originally to strap it on someone else, but when he pulled up and it was revealed to him that he was the scapegoat, they forced him down and put it on him against his will. He was probably told that once he completed the heist the bomb would be taken off and he'd get his cut, but they planned on killing him and taking his cut from the very start.

I have seen the documentary and IMO he was NOT in on it. He started freaking out when the bomb started beeping which in seconds goes off killing him. Poor man shouldn't have lost his life like that.
It wouldn't seem right to me. Why be in on it if you KNOW it's going to be a suicide mission? Of course the killers said he was in on it. A lot of people in confession rooms have leaked the victim as "being in on it" for their own defense.
He was in on it. Why lie... why lie and said it was 4 black strawman that put the bomb on him... He should have told the truth. In my opinion he's guilty because he lied already. What else is he lying about.

My family and I live in Girard, Pa. About 20-30min away from where it happened on Peach Street, back in 2003. Definitely, a very bizarre event. Watched as it was happening on the news. We had also been living in San Diego, Ca. when a man stole an Army tank and drove through the streets, around where we were living back in 1995, too. Never expected to have major news events happen so close to our homes. Thanks for coming through Erie and covering this. I love watching both of your channels, separately. It's great when you two also collaborate together. Great work!
I agree, it's strange but exciting when major news events happen so close to home. Grew up in NY city & heard about things close to home quite often. The most memorable story was when I was about 10 yrs old, walking home home from the grocery store, my dad noticed a huge wooden crate on the curb, right outside of a large residential building. He tried opening it, hoping to find valuables, but it was nailed shut. It was strange to me that it had the word "TRASH" written all over the sides in marker. Later that night, a news report came out that there was actually a body of a dead women inside. She had lived in that building and was killed and disposed of . . . by her own brother.

I agree. But there is a technical, the audio issue - can often barely hear his companions outdoors if they are standing a few feet away. An external mic would fix that, though. 😉
It’s really ann effing injustice and travesty. Poor guy just wanted to live his life quiet and undisturbed, and he was chosen beyond his choice and control, to be a pawn in this crazy thing and ultimately have his life ended.
"Live his life quiet and undisturbed?" The "poor guy' was in on it according to the investigation. Maybe he thought the bomb was fake but that doesn't mean he wasn't part of the scheme.

I covered this case just the other day. But being able to go there now and see how Erie has changed since 2003 is quite an interesting way of informing your audience of this horrendous crime.

Lived in that area for a while, then found out about the story since I wasn't from the area originally. My partner at the time was from that area and knew people that were directly involved
Erie is so small, everyone is connected somehow. It's like playing Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, except in Erie, most people are a lot closer than six degrees.
I forgot about this. I'll say it again.--Careful who you hang out with. Druggies, dealers and violent people are nothing but future trouble.

I can’t believe you are in Erie! This my hometown and it happened about 5 minutes away from where I live. It was so crazy how the whole story unraveled. I knew Lamont was in town because I saw his video but both of you were here? Sure would have loved to run into the two of you!

What's weird is I used to eat at Mama Mia's pizza a lot when I lived in Erie. This was around 2008-2009 Granted , I never knew about this story at the time. Erie is such as unassuming place for the most part. It's crazy that this went down there.

'Mobile at Large' is what I call it. ;) And just because a video can be found online doesn't mean you should look for it. I found out the hard way when I looked for a video of an incident that a famous song was based on. I was NOT prepared for the harsh reality of that. I will NOT make that mistake again.

Was Lamont thinking of a different car than the Geo Metro? There were lots of them on the road at the time. And while they were small, they weren't ridiculously small. Certainly not small enough that people would stare as you drove by.
What he's describing sounds maybe more like a Yugo to me.
Semi-related, but back in High School (late 90s) the Metro was my dream car. Yes, it was tiny and a tin can on wheels, but my grand father had one and he swore up and down on a good tank he'd get almost 70 miles to the gallon. I didn't have a lot of money as a kid and $10 in a tank could have literally gone a long way.

The Geo Metro was originally the Chevy Sprint I believe. Basically a Suzuki Samarai or actually was a Suzuki Samarai with a different body. It was a 3 cylinder. Yeah..bad getaway car

Man this one is crazy. Love watching your stuff to find out about historical events and locations I might not know much about, but it hits closer to home when it's right in your own backyard. As a kid whenever we would drive through Erie and we would drive past some of these places my mom's boyfriend at the time would always tell us the full story like it happened yesterday. Absolutely insane to this day to think something like that could happen so close, and even more insane to see a channel I watch fairly regularly walking around some places I have personally been many times (I popped a little around 6:30 when you can see the Chuck E Cheese my family would always take us to as kids in the background). Surreal in a way. Great video.

There's a story about an hour south of Erie in Oil City a young girl was murdered a few days before Halloween which caused it to be cancelled for a few years.
I heard that Mama Mia's Pizza place had two delivery drivers on that fateful day. Wells was the one that went on that call that ultimately killed him. But I heard the other delivery driver was somehow connected to this case and died soon after. Strange.

that's actually only the current day location of the pizzeria, not where they were located in 2003, they relocated in 2019 due to a fire in their complex and have also had multiple changes in ownership since 2003.
I remembered watching it on the news and it was just so sad.

Yep. I think the people that wrote the movie said they were "vaguely aware" of the story, but with how close the movie and this story are, they either based it more off the story, or just had one heck of a coincidence.
